F9 Video. Honda PC 800

You can see mine PC800 in my member of the month post.
It had just over 300,000 miles on it, and I sold it to a guy who rode it to Maine, and last I heard was still riding it with close to 400,000 miles on it.
I loved mine. I would take it to the kids soccer games at the park, and fill the left side of the trunk with ICE (it even has a drain plug in the bottom of the trunk) and load up the right side with several medium size pizza's for the kids.
The only downsides were you needed to sync the carbs at every oil change to get rid of a stumble off idle, and the plastic body work would crack at the mounting points if you were not carefull.
Many old PC's had popsicles and epoxy holding them together :WCP1:

Strangely, I found myself almost wanting one after watching this video.
I worked at BellSouth with a guy who rode a red one. Well, it was red at some point -- it had faded to pink.
He had an interesting side-hustle of buying salvage bikes, repairing them and selling them with a rebuilt title, or whatever it's called - salvage title maybe? It's amazing what little damage (broken plastics, as one example) it can take for an insurance company to declare a bike "totaled."
I still keep thinking I would like to buy something like that as a track bike, obviously for cheap money.

When I was first looking for a bike I considered this because of the trunks and it was about the correct size. My boss had one and loved it. He would ride it to the Puget Sound ferry (motorcycles get first boarding priority). I ended up with an ST1300 instead for my first motorcycle. It was a little bit big for learning but I rode everyday for about a month on roads and parking lots before I rode to work. I knew that it was made to appeal to car drivers and made to not look like a bike on purpose. I didn't know it was desiged by the Acura division.

I'd like to see Honda bring the PC back looking pretty very much like before. It would make a good town and country bike. Great for around town and moderate/day rides. Sure let Honda breath on the engine a little but keep the bike the same size. Give it FI and modern lighting. Keep it simple and light and not try to make a mini-GW out of it.

I worked with a guy years ago who put 6 Cadillac emblems on his Pacific Coast, 2 on each side and one on the front and back. He could never pass the CA motorcycle test but rode it all over the country.

Not sure if the video talked about it, but the pc800 was modeled after the Vincent Black Prince, with the rear flip up fender etc.
Vincent couldn't give them away, and ended up removing the fenders on remaining old stock, and converting them to normal fenders etc.

I used to own one and it was the probably the best handling bike I have ridden. Loads of space, smooth as silk but those body panels. Then I bought a ST1300.

I can't say it was the best handling bike I've ever ridden as I've only owned three real street bikes, a black PC800, Versys 300X, and STacy. STacy is the nicest ride. Although, I can honestly say, I never had a tip over with the PC800...:rofl1:

I finally got the one that was sitting in the back of my garage running again after a decade now. I forgot how easy riding it is, plus the trunk is frickin huge. 4x12 packs of coke, with a bit of room to spare. I might just start commuting a few days a week on it now since covid has really reduced the traffic to work. Early production 89 model pearl white

Waaaay back when Elizabeth Dole was Sec of Transportation, they pushed the vehicle markets to develop 'safer' machines for the passengers....less to get impaled on during a crash. That included the motorcycle industry.
One proposal had a fully faired bike with no protrusions except the handlebar ends, even solid rim wheels. If I remember properly the resulting technical paper was entitled 'Concept for a Safe Motorcycle'. This came out in the early 1980's. The PC800 design looks remarkably like the proposal in that paper, with the exception of solid rim wheels. If anyone has a stash of bike magazines from that period, there was an abbreviation of the DOT paper published in at least one magazine at the time.

The PC800 attracted me to the ST1100. I was lucky to find a ST1100-A near me a few years ago and still have her.
That's pretty much my story! The PC's in my area were going for more than I thought they should and a ST1100 was less with about the same miles! I'll never regret buying the ST!

There are a couple of motovloggers located in Tampa that I enjoy watching on YouTube. Shadetree Surgeon has couple of old Goldwings and he and Cheyleesi (who owns the PC 800) frequently ride together on their "Too Cool Dad's Bikes" :)

I found the video entertaining once I turn off the audio (very early on). I do like the PC800.
Ha, Shadetree Surgeon's ramblings are an acquired taste for sure. I've been watching him for awhile though and he does all kinds of crazy trips on his Hondas, which he loves. He is also evidently quite a warm hearted individual despite first impressions.

It just occurred to me that Josh (ST Surgeon) might be saying "TWO cool Dads' bikes" but I've always thought he was riffing on the expression "TOO cool" like in "Too cool for school."

Shadetree Surgeon's ramblings are an acquired taste for sure.
Another acquired tasted is the antics of Henry Cole of The Motorbike Show. He's — ok, I guess– just a bit more "character" than I care for. And I'm loathe to trust anyone wearing a flat cap. No good can come of that. :D

I just watched the first episode of the latest series where he takes a KTM 1290 touring through the mountain roads of Gran Canaria. WOW. What a beautiful place.

Cole does travel a bit but maybe it not that hard as he's based in the UK. I've only seen maybe 12eps out of 9 series but Gran Canaria is the first place he's been that I'd really like to see (and ride)!

I can do without the chopper restoration stuff or the Morgan 3-wheeler and just make that whole ep about the KTM and riding around the island. Just WOW.

Wow! A few months ago I gave a non-running one away. With a clean tittle. It completely died out on the I'State and set there for 2 days before I could get a trailer lined up. I was concerned about it getting stolen but evidently no one wanted it.

Ah Shucks..... I still have my barn find...I posted this about 4 years ago...
Hi Everyone
Well here is my story, I am also fishing for information
I ran across a fellow about 5 or 6 years who has a Honda Pacific Coast
parked in his shed, I went there to do some upholstery repairs in their
house and saw this motorcycle while going by the shed, after finishing up in the house
I asked about the bike, it is a Candy Red 1990 ( sold new in 1993) Pacific Coast
Well long story short I have been trying to buy it for all that time because I never saw
it move except to go on a trailer and taken to the dealer about every year for service
fluids changes and such all I ever got was it's not for sale... it turns out the guys wife
thought it would be fun to get her husband something special for his birthday so she bought
this bike and had it delivered complete with a big red bow on it.... They rode it to Yosemite
one or two times and parked it... He was scared of it, so that is where it has sat since 1993 A true BARN FIND
I thought it had 5,470 miles on it... well they called me and said to come and get it out of
their shed last Monday so I hot footed it over there and loaded it up with years of dirt all over it
I checked it over put fresh gas in it and it fired right up....Well after cleaning it up I looked again
at the dash and WOW this thing has 547.2 miles on it, it's NEW it's a kick to ride 800cc gets it down
the road in fine fashion.... It kinda looks like an ST1100 up front but it sure as hell is not.
I am embarrassed to tell what I paid for it but I could more than double maybe triple
it if I put it on ebay....
NOW are there any Pacific Coast owners here on the ST Forum ? or do you have a friend with one? I am looking
for a good forum for the PC but they seem to be very inactive...
Shoot me an email to motorcycledave@mac.com or call me 209-887-3283 if yo can help me out
Again as always Ride Safe
Thanks
Dave
I had a ‘90 PC for several years. Finally sold it two years ago and bought a cherry ‘04 ST1300 with 13,000 on it. Loved the PC and would absolutely jump on that deal! Congratulations, hope you have some great rides on it!
