G'Day...

13°/21°C today, damp, kinda hazy due to... Sahara dust warning...

Was so stuffed from yesterday's chow, could only handle two cups and a slice of SIL's home made Easter-Striezel...

Already busy gardening (GF urged...), we carefully fertilized the lawn, planted some food-plants (peas, sweet corn), spread some flower seeds for them bees, etc...

Yesterday's family gathering was some show again, 4 generations of folks...
Some might be used to large family gatherings, me having lived mostly by myself since leaving home at 18 have my issues... ;)
So I'm mostly observing, watching... it seriously would deserve a Sir Richard Attenborough narrative though...
:roflmao:

GF's sister urged everyone to be there by 1145hrs...
At 1140hrs we were first at the scene... faced with surprise why we're there already... :cautious:
No one else showed up before 1200hrs... ;)

GF's BIL decided to set the BBQ on fire (literally, the flames blazed like 6 feet high)...
so while engulfing the place with a thick plume of smoke he elaborated his superiority by explaining at length and repeatingly to everyone how he always starts his grill with some logs before putting the coal on and how much the propane grill sucks so he uses it only for vegetables...
That lecture took about 45 minutes... ;)

Grand-kid arrived, 7 years of age she eagerly looking forward to her sugar rush and wanted to start searching for treats right away...
So she zig-zagged across the property, tailed by like 70% of the gang, barking commands like LEFT! RIGHT! followed by OHs and AHHs when she finally discovered something... I think she stepped on a few items... some eggs and chocolate bunny's surfaced quite badly crushed... ;)

GF's and her BIL's parents are in their 80ies... their conversations circle in competing complaints about intestines, sore joints and who of them has the most incompetent nurses/doctors, which resulted in generall agreement that pretty much all the medial personell is completely useless...
It seamlessly changed into arguing who of their acquaintance/friends has already passed away... or not... nah! that one fell ill but sisn't dead yet...
As GF's older daughter A has also brough her (5 months) BF along, speculations about when she will finally decide to reproduce came up next and were debated ad nauseum by the old folks...

Logically I stayed out of it... but I stopped (successfully I might add) another declaration of superiority by GF's BIL who started to vent that his newly air to water heat-pump is of course the best near and far, by the innocent (simple) question if it is a monoblock or a split-type unit... which seized him right there and then... :devilish: (FYI: its a monoblock, but they'd forgotten to install a frost-purging valve....)
But: we have to consider ourselved lucky as he normally starts to read out loud whats on the newsfeed of his phone... which is of course also mostly a new model, and the best you could get... ;)

Yeah... that was that...

enjoy your holiday!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee Martin.

It's 49°F and cloudy in Lansdale PA, and completely still. Clouds and a high around 65 are expected, with chances of rain beginning around 2100 hours.

Mrs. Fun worked diligently yesterday and got one small room cleared of clutter and reorganized. I helped where I could but it's delicate because the SIL is so particular about her stuff. Best not to get in between them.

More of the same today.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Martin. 56F on the dog walk with a clear sky, stars and a bright moon to enjoy along the way. got gym class this morning and then an oil change at the Subaru dealer on the 2025 Forester. they take about an hour or so. and they have cookies, cakes and coffee. what else is needed?
the high should be 88F. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.
It's Marathon Monday, with the Boston Marathon happening today.
That's tempered with news of the passing of Pope Francis.

It's 36 and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 61, later.

Yesterday's Easter visit by everyone went well, with plenty of food and fun had by everyone.
We never got a chance to visit with our neighbors, but did chat across the fence.
We barely got the important cabinets baby-proofed, before they (Elouise) arrived. By coincidence, they're also Brenda-proofed!
Elouise had a lot of fun, running around the yard, and Freya actually let her pet her.

Today, I'll try for a gym visit and walk.
Have I mentioned that the Wing is back in the shop? I was able to jump-start it last week, and drove it back, after speaking with the service center. Hopefully, it's just a battery issue.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Thanks for the coffee, Martin, but the only time I ever have a "coffee problem", is when I have none. And I NEVER let that happen.
You've likely seen me declare many times, ... I'm not addicted to coffee -- i simply choose NOT to live without it.
Meanwhile, thanks for regaling us with your Easter get- together... in short, a typical large family reunion. Personalities abound, some stronger and louder than others.
We had our own at the brother-in-law's, but with no drama. Just a nice time.
My sister called me Friday night to announce they were in Nashville for one of their birthdays, and were going out to dinner Saturday night, but I was running the video at church board at church Friday night, and we had bought tickets to a Passover Seder Saturday night. I reminded the caller it might be nice to have some advance notice next time, as I would have liked to be with them. Advance notice, as in more than the day before, especially if I have to ride 3 hours to attend.
Our meetings are rare with all of us, as I'm in Alabama, one sister each in Georgia, Tennessee and Connecticut.
I'm reminded of Keith's admonition to reach out while we can. That's a good idea, y'all.
Cloudy, warm, and 50/50 rain chances today and the next.
I'm not a fan of Jimmy Fallon, but I do like his quip here...
"Don't keep reaching for the stars, because you'll just look like an idiot, stretching like that for no reason."

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and play-by-play, Martin!

It's another pleasant morning here, albeit a little on the cool side at 4°C/39°F, which should eventually climb to around 12°C/54°F. The sun will shine for most of the day, but then the rain comes back, yet again. According to the forecast, the drops should start falling around 5. Must remember to take the cushions off my outdoor chairs and bring them in.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

After all that you might need a day off and GO RIDE to recover.

Well, the sideways rain hit and ran me in from sitting on the deck. It hasn’t slowed the blue jays from cleaning up literally hundreds of dead beetles in the driveway. I can’t remember ever seeing this many flying beetles, since I’ve moved here. I can’t figure where they’re coming from, but several hundred commit suicide every night by flying into the security light, and then falling dead in the drive.

The rain just slacked up, so I’m headed to town for a grocery (coffee) pickup. My choices are 1) Get out in the rain to buy coffee. 2) Probably go to jail.

Thx Martin, I feel your pain!

10˚c/50f, overcast, calm.

Did a coastal walk yesterday, nice, but on the return we ended up at the inlaws place….what Martin said….

A slow day today, it’s a public holiday, we really take the Easter celebration seriously over here.
A beach walk later.

I do have a couple of items I have to do in the coming week, and it really bothers me…I think next Monday will find me in lighter spirits.

Have a good one!
Stu

From yesterdays walk, Fishermen memorial, something like 75 local fishermen have lost their lives in fishing in the USA, both on the Atlantic and Pacific side. Mrs Stus father lost two of his uncles…

Good morning , Saturday night was Our Easter celebration, a Mutual friend of Sharon and I invited us to dinner. Vinny is the person responsible for me meeting my wife 25 years ago,was a good dinner, thankfully could eat and stomach was happy. Yesterday ,Wife was a bit upset as in her kids didn't wish her a happy Easter, dinner was food from Saturday night party. Myself spent so time making a new spot to park for Lady in the tractor shop, and repaired the crack in the left tip over cover . Today need to hit the grocery store for TP and coffee and what ever I forgot last time. Most important have to phone my Sister and wish her a happy birthday, Sis is now 70 seems like yesterday we were kids. Scattered clouds,42 F ten degrees warmer for the high, some wind, going to be a okay day, Thanks Martin for coffee, and everyone have a good day, GIMG_6758.jpg

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 57F, up from 35F and heading for 69F. At least for the next week, no freezing nights. We'll take that. A very slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 15 to 20mph.

Besides church, yesterday, nothing else happened. Today, I'm not sure yet. Chris is still asleep, so she had a rough night. I will probably try to get back to the motorcycle, but I still have some stuff out front to fix from the work I did to the side of the driveway.

You can see by the planter, all the landscaping cloth bunded up. So, maybe I'll clean that up today. Also the lawn does need mowing.

No food/drink until Chris gets up. But you can be assured a Pepsi or two will be on the menu.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Well! I am so thankful that I'm not the only one who has to listen to this. My MIL (90 yr old) wants to go even further, saying she wants to come up to where I live to see the "best" doctors and hospitals (we do have John's Hopkins) and she says THEY will help sort all her ails out...uh huh. And then the very next sentences are "I can't go" "I won't make it" and "I'm scared" when we say we'll find a place for the summer for her. I can't win. The Pic is my last hurrah in the airport while we ate "Cuban" food. Believe me, the MIL can drive the Pope to drink (which I found out he died yesterday, sad).

Welp, back home on a cloudy but mild morning. I would not have minded doing remote work down there JSYK but the wife unit cannot work remote, so here we are. 61F/16C here in SoMD. Work then probably lawn mowing before rehearsal. That's about it, so take care y'all!

Morning all! Overcast and threatening rain right now, though the forecast promises sun later. Currently 7C with a predicted high of 11C.

We had the family gathering at our place yesterday. It was actually very pleasant. The young'uns (in their 20's) did an easter egg hunt my wife had planned. They may be adults but they still enjoy searching for chocolate. I myself prefer just eating it but youthful enthusiasm is always enjoyable to watch...from a distance; exuberance can be loud.....

Easter Monday is a stat here so I have the day off. Not sure what's on for today beyond taking the young dog for a walk. He's bouncing off the walls as he hasn't been out in a day or two which is a criminal waste of his youthful exuberance. There's just something uplifting about watching him bound around with joy doing zoomies at the park or just investigating every little tantalizing smell while on leash. Coming back to life as a dog wouldn't be the worst thing.

In the interim, maybe unpack a bin or two or just read and snooze in the recliner....decisions....decisions.....

RIP Pope Francis.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you have a choice, zoomies over Zoom!

and how much the propane grill sucks so he uses it only for vegetables...
He's right. Propane grills are great for convenience, but impart no carcinogens into the food for flavour. Pacific Northwest salmon grilled on the barbeque...wow! :)

I'm enjoying my second travel mug sized coffee for the day. Peet's Italian roast. Dark, full-bodied without the bitterness you can find in French roast. Sittin' in front of the computer trying to figure out my route down to New Mexico from the Seattle area...and of course the way back. So many roads. So little time.

Chris
