Differences between 2003 and 2007 St1300

I had an 2007 st1300, back in Febuary I litteraly was ran over by a truck. I walked away believe it or not , but my bike did not fair so well. I found a 2003, wandering if there are any differences between performance or anything else I should take into consideration.

The non-ABS 2003 will NOT have an adjustable shield - that was only for the ABS model in 2003 and all models starting in 2004.

The rest is going to be primarily cosmetic, black wheels and various metal parts vs the silver.
 
OK Chuck you got me there I still have black wheels so I may be just a bit slower than you but I have shaved a bunch of weight off my ST so it will be close.

iirc the 03 did not have the metal heat shield on the lower fairing.

I was under the impression that in addition to the heat shielding, there was a slight change in the fuel mapping to help alleviate so of the heat issues. I am not 100% sure though.

It just looks that way since we ride further, through rain, sleet and snow, to get there.

I happen to like the darker silver of the '03 better, but that's a personal preferrence. I would ride any year, any color and be happy.

I would love to see the black '03 wheels on an '06 or '10.

Per the Honda site, the 2012 has a
Front fork travel as 4.6 inches (117 mm)
Rear fork travel as 4.8 inches (120 mm)

I found an old review from 2002 of the ST1300 that reflected identical numbers..

Short answer - No, perhaps some internals changed but it did not result in more travel.

Sorry to revive this old thread. So ALL ST1300model starting in 2004 had ABS? I inquire on a few 2005, 2006 and 2007 and current owner said it’s Non ABS model. I’m looking to upgrade my 2002 ST1100 only after 5 months.

No. It was optional until 2012 I think. My 2010 didn't have ABS but I think all 2012s did. How that applies to STPAs I have no idea.

But I believe all ST1300s from 2004 on had electric windshields whether or not they had ABS.

No. All models starting with 2004 had an electric windshield. ABS was an option.

Nope, only color in the USA. The biggest change came in 2008 with updated SMC and ECM.
