Coolant level check

If he fills it up to the upper level when cold, it will spew coolant out of the overflow vent and all over your back tire etc.

I always wondered why my coolant level has been just below minimum for the past 16 years now, regardless how often I topped up ! thanks for solving one of life's mysteries

Question - new to ST1300////I always only have three bars on temp gauge. Even running in second gear at the dragon tail with 85F+...is that normal?

Yes, completely normal, and it should get to three bars rather quickly.
When you don't have three bars is when you have a problem.
