I'm having charging issues. It looks like it will charge if the usb that is plugged in is held down but not if it is simply inserted. Wondering if anyone has had similar issues and if so were you able to find a fix?

No, I've had no problems, but I did wonder about the longevity of that tiny rubber door to the charging port.

Are you using the cord that came with it or an aftermarket?
I know on a lot of the older GPS systems the old USB 'snout' that plugged into the device was longer than standard.
If you used a 'standard' one it sometimes would not charge.

The USB port on my PackTalk Slim bit the dust just after my warranty ran out. I called Cardo and they sent me a refurbished replacement. I can't get the replacement to sync with the website to adjust settings. It still works but I'll probably replace it before long.

@Weaselinsuit as UP said, some USBC cables don't fit just right, and the rubber flap that covers it can get in the way too. Hopefully that's all it is and not a kaput jack on the unit.

Also inspect inside the plug just to make sure there's no pocket lint etc in there from when you have the unit off and stored somewhere soft and fuzzy.

Apparently Cardo has experienced a failure rate with some of there units.
I fear the same faith on the Sena... those micro USBs are really hard to plug in...
And when they'd also used cheap sockets, with insufficient anchor points, the unavoidable will happen...
MiniUSB (like on the Garmins) had larger, more rigid fixing points...

How far out of warranty are you? Cardo sometimes help even if expired.

Yes have the same issue I believe. If you hold it just right with a bit of pressure it will charge, soon as you let go it stops. Solder joint on the charging port is most likely cracked/broken. I have mine at a Electronics repair shop to see if he can fix it. Dropped it off last week.

How did the repair go? I did the rounds of various shops here and none would touch it. Will keep looking but now also considering just getting the Freecom 4X as I don't really need the mesh.

I got the Freecom 2X as it's just me or me and Mrs. Obo so why pay for 4 more channels.

Be sure the charging port is clean of fuzz and dirt and will allow the male plug to go all the way in. Had this happen on my iphone more than once.

Ted:
If you can't fix it, or find someone to fix it, check out Short Tronics. The owner, Chris, doesn't advertise on his website that he repairs communicators but he has repaired them, he repaired a Sena for me.
Doesn't hurt to ask him. Even if you send it in it only costs $10.00 USD for him to check it, or nothing if you choose not to fix it and don't ask to get it back.*

His contact inf. is in the first post of the below thread.
