Whooshka
Fairly faST old guy
So I bought the Booster Plug to see what it is all about. One can't have an opinion on something unless one tries it out.
It took literally 30 seconds to install once the tank was up. My home and commuting (rarely done now thanks to COVID) is barely above sea level. I have not tried it here yet. I did install it before a week long ride last week. Most of the riding was at altitude on the BRP, the Carolina's (181, 226 were my favs), Tennessee, Virginia, etc. 90% twistie back roads spent at 3-6K RPM. Any brief stint on a 4 lane was steady 80 MPH. After 2 days with it I removed it to be able to compare.
The Booster did remove a lot of the off idle and low RPM twitch, or throttle snatch. I did notice a little more exhaust pop than without. I also felt the bike as being a little rich, hard to explain but throttle response was "fluffy". There was some soot on the Delkevic tips. Perhaps altitude + Booster = too rich? Gas mileage did drop. With the plug and hard riding i was in the 33-35 MPG range over a full tank of gas. Without the plug in the same conditions I was 37-39.
So that is my 2 cents worth. Will I keep it? Undecided as I have yet to ride it around home.
Other Stuff...
The little wind deflector on top of the windshield is coming off. No need for one on a 1300 with power shield.
The wind deflector kit I bought used was awesome. Not 1 extra degree of heat felt anywhere. Somebody needs to copy and produce these.
Tires. One of my buds with his ST had that weird, uneven tire wear going on. After 2 days it increased dramatically forcing him to go home. His tires looked dangerous to ride on.
Another bud was "bragging" how he had 4800 miles on his Angel ST's on his FJR. 2 days later his tread was even with the wear bars. 200 miles later cord was showing. Prompting us to shorten our day and get him new tires. Teem Motorspots in Franklin NC. took us in at 3:30 on a Friday, hooked him up with tires in stock, and stayed until new rubber was mounted. I cannot relay to you what a great experience it was. Customer service there gets an A+++ from us.
That's it. 5 days, 1100 miles. 2 days of rain. 1 night camping. 4 at a lake house in Lake James, SC. Good times had by all.
