I apologize if this is something that has already been known and covered. I don't explore the options in Basecamp like I should and given I'm an IT guy it's a bit embarrassing... but, to my credit, I'm also lazy.

Okay, one thing I hated about Basecamp vs Mapsource was in Mapsource could store all my files on my Upstairs PC and access them from a tablet or other PC in some other room just by accessing the network location.

In Basecamp it loaded everything in a local database... so you'd have to export the file to a Network location then import it back into the PC your were working on.

Well, an option I never notice before showed up - maybe it was always there? - maybe it was a recent update, has shown up for Defining a database location.

Edit - Options - General - '+' next to the Database Option - Some name and a network locaiton - for me that's upstairs in that PC's Garmin folder.

Once that is done, you can import all your other garmin routes into it or whatever you want to do.

Then, I opened up another PC and did the same thing - Made the Name the same 'upstairs_database' and point to the same upstairs PC Garmin folder used in the prev step.

When I did that an it restarted Basecamp, the imported data showed up on my other PC...

Hope this helps and sorry it it's one of those 'duh Joe, we already knew that' things.

Joe, do you know where the default location is?

No, I sure don't, yet... I'm assuming in the garmin directory but may be in program files somewhere..

IIRC: C:\User\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\BaseCamp\Database\...

And: BC will create a new folder with every update (which come quite frequently), so you'll find a 4.3, 4.4, etc... there...
