Changing rear tire and couldn't find anyone who would carry a good Moly that could get it to me by Mon,Tues next week when I wnt to put rear end back together so wondering if anybody found this stuff in a chain, big box store I may be able to pick up.
Thanks

I think your best bet would be to try and get a container of Loctite 51048 at a NAPA store or similar. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for this product indicates that it contains between 60% & 100% molybdenum.

Napa stores can usually have what you want the next day if they don't have it in stock.

I tried several local chains where I am,Mass, but going back to Upstate New York on Monday night. What I'm asking is if anyone has had luck finding a high Moly blend in a national chain.Tried Amazon and other online suppiers, yes available but delivey won't be for a week and ned to button it up on Tues....,the reason I am asking here if anyone has seen a 60%+ Moly blend in a brick and motor store....I'm looking for Locklite 8012....but Honda Moly 60 would work too...

Fastenall usually has it in stock. Well, lets put it this way, I have seen it at one of the local Fastenall's here.

Machine tool places that stock Loctite products also will have it. I'm talking about places that sell calipers, dial indicators, milling cutters, drill bits, etc.

If you cannot find the recommended Loctite product in NYC, something is wrong - EVERYTHING can be had in NYC. It might not be easy to find it or to get to the store in Brooklyn that has it, (alas, the good joints on Canal St are long gone) but it's available.

The locktite stuff is also now known as LB8012 check amazon.

Worcester

I'm in Southern Rhode Island, Wakefield specifically. I have Loctite 8012 I have used exactly once, installing a new tire a few weeks back. You are welcome to it if you want to make the trip. Then:
A. Ship/mail it back to me.
Or
B. Keep it and have a new replacement shipped direct to me.

I'd offer to meet you halfway, but pretty sure my wife has my day booked up...

Thank You RT,That's very generous,I did find a local Moly paste at O'Reily's but doesnt list composition on the label,so I am going to try to find the Locktite at Fastnal tomorrow as there's several in Worcester area,if not I'll go with the Oh,Oh,Oh,...O'Reily's....

Let your fingers do the walking...call first. Not all Fastenall's stock the same stuff. If they have to ship it in for you, ask about shipping charges. If its coming with a shipment from their warehouse or locktite, ask them to waive the shipping fee.

This is something hard to find locally as you're experiencing, and I recommend buying and carrying a bottle with you, so you never have to shop for it at the last minute, and can tell a shop "Use this!"

There's a better Loctite product, more suited to splines. From this thread:

EDIT: There is another Loctite product (LB 8103) that is NLGI class 2. Here are differences between the 8012 and the 8103:

LOCTITE LB 8012
LOCTITE LB 8012 is a black, metal-free anti-seize lubricant with MoS2 and rust inhibitors in a brush top form. Formulated to protect assemblies during running-in periods, it resists high static loads and the MoS2 paste ensures maximum lubricity. It has an NLGI grade of one and is resistant to temperatures up to +400C.
