OK, so yer thirsty for some special caffeine?
Well I've got some rare "Egyptian Pyramid" for you today!
Coffee so old, you'll see yourself as a child in the mirror.
Cups on the table, come git it.

I've missed this group's antics so I guess I got some catchin' to do.
Failed equipment, clogged up service lines and new internet fiber installations in our town are the cause.
Nameless, faceless corporations with "convenient aps" are all the rage nowadays.
This time, I said I wanted a real person to visit me - imagine - the nerve!

But heck whatcha been up to?
I spoke with Keith ( @ibike2havefun ) a few days ago and I know he's back from the world trip with lots of stories.
Who's next, eh?

Y'all have a winderfilled day!

Thx Nick, and welcome back!
Glad the maladies were electronic, and not bodily or tractorial.

There’s a Red Alert for foul weather just north and east of us.
Insane amount of rain is expected.
Counties have their crisis managment up and running.

Where we live, it’s supposed to be just a little wind, 45mph, and the usual wetness.
Thank God the weather people are always right.

A news flash just told us the vine collection of Voss hotel have been secured….priorities!

Today is just holding the fort.
Hope it all blows away soon.

I think the kids will learn a lesson or two today, sweet things comes with a price.

Happy Halloween!
Stu

Ta me duck. The coffee didn't work.
Halloween, meh.
But I do like pumpkin pie, first time I had that delight was at York Harbour, just north of Boston upon the Charles. Is it in Maine? Pffffffftttttt.
Let me have another look in the mirror. No, still nowt.
Today has started fandabulous, blue skies, mild and enough wind to gently stir the trees. It'll stay this way too and we may see 60. It could be a gelato day, we'll be off to Alnwick upon the Aln where Carlo's does a very nice selection of home produced loveliness.
I had to cut the grass again yesterday, it's got to be the longest cutting season I've ever experienced, but with no cold weather forecast it might get done again yet. Pffffffftttttt. I'm sure the first cut was in February, it's blummin nuts.
Av a gud un and remember, bonfire night isn't far away; stuff a Guy and make sure you've got wood. Now that's a tradition worth getting excited about. You'll need some rockets too!
Upt.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the King Tut Brand Caffeinated Beverage, Nick. Good to see you back online. Hopefully the new service will be more reliable and, if you've been a very very Good Boy, faster.

It's a mild 56°F and clear in Rockville, where we expect sunny skies and a high around 81. I didn't make it to the goof course yesterday- around 0800 I started to feel that another recovery day was the right decision, and I was right- but perhaps today will be better.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

G'Day,

partially cloudy, 14°C/57°C, slight wind, no rain in sight...

spent the morning with... spending money...

Trusty Toyota was due for some a new set of winter tires... Bridgestone of course...
So 4 pcs Blizzak LM005, 4 valves, mounting, balancing, installation, depot (summer wheels) for another year... + 20% VAT... € 546,94,-...

Whilst installing proper footwear once the temps get below 10°C/50°F should be common sense, are snow tires mandatory, getting caught on your summer flop-flops during "winter conditions" will cause a fine, and: the insurers will bail out any liability, regardless if you're found at fault or the other driver involved...

So, its winter, officially...

Office, slow day, mulling over creating another cup of my Nescafé 3in1... its hot, somewhat tasty, and reminds of cabin breakfasts in Norway...

Tomorrow is a holiday, GF has the grand-kid over for some "seasonal activities"...

cheers!

Oh, I forgot to mention.

On my way out of Italy last Friday I used the VAT Refund kiosk at the Naples airport, trying to recover the tax paid on a nice leather jacket. However, I never got any visual confirmation that the process had worked: nothing on the display, no printed receipt, nothing. And when I checked my credit card statement on arriving home, there was nothing to be seen. Naturally I presumed that something had gone wrong (likely user error) and the refund hadn't been processed.

On Monday I wrote a cover letter asking for my refund, made and included photocopies of my passport, the receipts, and the form generated by the store, and put everything in an envelope. Knowing that international postage (the refund processing center is in Bratislava, Slovakia) would be higher than domestic, a trip to the Post Office would be necessary. Not wanting to venture out wile feeling poorly, I let the thing sit and ripen on my desk until yesterday afternoon, then went down tot he local Post Office and mailed it.

This morning, I found this email in my inbox:

It's too late, I think, to try to recall the letter. I guess I'll have to send a second letter, but I'll wait a while to see what happens to this one first.

Misadventures in time delay!

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Nick.

Boo! Did I scare you? I'll try again....

We got a scare this morning. There was a ruckus out in the chicken coop, and we feared it was a fox. Nope, worse.
It was a poultrygeist. A fowl spirit.
I plan to call and eggsorcist to help it cross to the other side.
Sounds like an eggspert plan to help it fly the coop!

Ride into work was scary too. Wet, foggy and black, but it was 12C. Will see 16C and some sun / cloud mix for the ride home.

That's all I've got, unless I don't. Muah ha ha.

Scared yet?

Obo.

good morning all. thank you for the coffee Nick, hope your new services work out OK for you.
47F on the dog walk with the company of a clear sky and lots of stars to walk with. and with a small breeze to make it kind of chilly. yesterday went well at the gym and even better at home after a short nap. did some closet cleaning, boy the stuff we collect over the years. and the ever I've been looking for that came to mind once or twice.
don't know what's on the table for today. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the Pyramid scheme coffee, Nick. Good to have you back with us.

It’s still unseasonably warm. Waking up to 66 degrees on Halloween, is just crazy. I remember past years of kids trick-or-treating in parkas. High of 77, with chance (fat chance) of rain this evening.

Boo! Did I scare you? I'll try again..
The IRS called. Did that scare you?

I went to visit the daughter and family last evening and was surprised by how much better the grandson is, at playing piano.

Shoot, I'd be that good too if you gave me 10 years.....maybe

Good morning, all, and thanks, Nick for the Egyptian coffee...very sheikh.

Happy Warmest Halloween on Record. Looks like we'll have mainly sunny conditions all day and into the early evening. It will start to rain at around 8 p.m., but the ghosties and goblins should be done trick-or-treating by then. Hope they all have fun.
19°C/66°F now, 22°C/72°F with a feels-like of 24°C/75°F later.

@Obo, I hope you get the poultrygeist problem sorted out, lest it come back home to roost. That would put you in a peck of trouble.
@Nashcat, that grandson of yours is a talented young man!

Gotta go, the torture chamber awaits. Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Has anyone else started getting "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" responses when trying to view YouTube content? That started happening to me recently. I'm not interested in providing Google yet one more way to track, sort, fold, spindle, and mutilate me so I've elected not to sign in.

So.... you're a bot?

Nope, but I'm logged in via my Google account...

I switched browsers a while back (from Edge to DuckDuckGo) but that's not the issue, because for a while I could still see YT videos, rendered in the DDG Player. More recently I've actually started using my VPN at all times, and the difference in behavior seems to at least approximately correlate in time with that event. I know VPNs encrypt everything and redirect traffic through the VPN servers, but didn't think that would affect persistent sign-in data and such unless they do more than that.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for the coffee, Nick.
I suspect that most of us will be stealing a glance in the mirror on the way by...
Hopefully, your problems remain corrected.

It's 48 and sunny this morning, rising to 78 and becoming partly cloudy, later.

I made it to the gym, yesterday, and did a 4.8 mile walk with the neighbor's dog. She only dragged me half-way!

Today, I'll wait for a visit from the building inspector, and then take one of the bikes out for a ride, somewhere.
My lawn still looks pretty good, but I might give it a once-over.

Enjoy the day,
Steve
