A little 40$ mod I did

I bought the kit on eBay for 39.95 mounted to the crash bars only had cut the cover on the bottom a little was really very easy, I got the idea from a kit I seen at Bob's BMW
Like your mod. I was wondering if it scrapes on turns and if it allows enough stretch for your feet. How tall are you, or better yet... inseam? Is that clamp size o.k. without adding a spacer?

It should not scrape at all. I have a 32 inseam and it let's me stretch out nice! And I did have to add a spacer

The only thing that concerns me about those particular pegs is that the clamp is made of two halves that are riveted together with a sheet over them. Everything relies on the quality of metal used in the rivets. At that price point, I'm not expecting much better than pot metal.

A one-piece clamp would seemingly be a better choice.

If those are Allen bolts, then they're threaded into the clamp halves by the thickness of the clamp (1/8", maybe?). Either way, it's questionable design at a low price point, so I'd wonder about its life span. Everything is held together by a couple of threads, which just isn't optimal.

I'm not poo-pooing the idea, just questioning the hardware.

Way back I had an embarrassing off-duty accident that damaged both my knees. As I have aged, they no longer work as they should. One of the most aggravating problems is that both stiffen up on long rides on the ST1100 (but not the ST1300? puzzle there somewhere). I installed a set of MCL fold-outs but still had the same problem...they just weren't far forward enough. So, I have taken to using them as heel rests. Just a few minutes every hour or so is all it takes for the relief I need. After this experience, if any of you other old guys have this problem, consider Lukesdad14's idea, but mount them forward. Looks good and doesn't cost as much as the blades should you find they aren't enough.

I've been looking at other highway peg offerings, to see if there are any with enough adjustability to be used on a 1300.

I'm with you, in that any peg I'd use would need to be fairly forward.

Search... plenty of ideas here.

Is that peg hovering over the brake pedal?

A one piece would have been better I just couldn't find a round footpeg with them but this will let me know if I like the highway pegs on the cheap side

Lukesdad... any updates or modifications, improvements, or changes to your cheap highway pegs farkle idea after some time and more use? I’ve been mulling what to do for a while and have considered the PSR Blades, but not real excited about the $$$. Have wondered how your pegs would fare in a tipover and also if adding a “frame slider” at a strategic point would help with that, without causing problems with the bike leaning in turns. Any thoughts or comments?

If you look at his link, the clamping steel's fingers have to point down in order for the square piece to be horizontal as shown in his pictures. Obviously, in the event of a tip over, that steel clamp and square bar will touch down first and support the bike. Damage will probably be a function of what the tip over guard hits - I've dropped my bike on lawns and also gravel - barely a scratch on the tip over guards and I'm sure these foot pegs would fare the same. On a city street? It will probably bend the 'fingers' or push the peg outward and up, damaging the plastic tip over guard. Probably no worse than this.
