So, that's where I am at. Carbs on there but its like my choke cable "stretched" but didn't of course. Somehow, during the 2 month interim while my carbs were rebuilt I forgot how to route that cable? the way it is now it will barely close the choke. Yes, I should've taken pics, and did, just not of this because I guess, it that time, I didn't think it would be an issue down the road. So, if anyone has their top off their bike and can take a pic of how the choke cable is supposed to be routed that would be great!

Did find this pic and doesn’t look like it’s routed any special way? If anything mine may be outside the throttle cables but I’m not with it now. So did try to research it

Look close at # 3 and 4 and follow down to the clamp that holds the cable. This bike has heli bars and risers so it may run a little differently at the bars.

I don’t see a clamp and me thinks that’s what I’d missing there is just so much “slack” in it? I’ll pull up on my desktop later looking at pics on 4” iPhone. I have to pull my top off tomorrow and I’ll recheck the routing. Swear it’s the little things drive a guy crazy but having a choke in NE in the winter is not an option;)

Yes, it will be better on a PC than a phone.

Look at the very bottom center of #3 and you will see the clamp. You can also see it in #4.

Aha! There’s that little booger! How the heck I lost that? May be here in my hardware pile hopefully. Otherwise I’ll make something that will work.

Easy to lose the little screw also that attaches it to the mounting point. ;)
It's basically a 'half' clamp shaped like _n

Yep and I didn’t lose the little spring and washer for idle control and tried to be organized but it’s been a couple months since I tore into it. Ugghh. May have to just use an electrical cable clamp or make somerhing to hold it or it won’t work.

Think this may work cut off one ear think I have a screw that will work and a washer? Too cold to work down there today I did check it for for fit on end of throttle cable. Fingers crossed ya don’t know til you try:)

NM I’m a knucklehead that bracket is there and Jim from Romex included the screw for it in the bag of old carb parts. Was so focused on getting the carbs remounted which was a pita overlooked it. Whew!

Hi, I'm at the point of trying to get my carbs off, and I just looked at the choke cable. I just runs from the handlebar right back along the frame. Is it possibl;e you have the choke lever in the choke position which would make it appear the cable isn't long enough?
I want to remove my carbs to clean them after 25 years not running, and I cannot see how in the world I'm ever going to reach the forward boot clamps to loosen them. The manual doesn't say much about it. Can you advise me? thanks, Gerald in Atlanta
