1300RT Reveal 4/29

Actually has NT1100 ish lines... I like the side fairings moving for airflow but seems a bit much... at the moment, I'm very happy with my 1250..

That's a big no thanks from me. I think it's bazaar looking, too angular (although the new GS is worse looking), and the moving side panels turn me off. Doubt if they do much and just something else electronic to go wrong.

Nothing about that impresses me any. I don't like these hard lines and angular shapes of some of the new bikes. It's a short Video and I'm looking at it on my phone but it seems to me those panniers look a lot smaller than my 1250. I was getting a little worried that it was going to be an awesome bike and that I was going to have the itch to upgrade, but I think it's safe to say I don't need to worry.

Yeah, I'm quite happy w/1250... They added lights inside the saddlebags and a power socket in the left one which is nice but something I can do myself so not a huge thing. The GSA looks better in person than in pics... maybe this will be the same, but I'm good for several more years... there's nothing I hate about my RT.

It's on their website now.

What's next? Convertible top and AC?!
The RT is a great bike but I guess to keep moving units they have to "improve" the aids. Following the cage model.

This one is actually the first one I have seen in awhile that I thought "wow, that looks pretty good". I was looking at the color options and then noticed the K 1600 GT - I really like the looks of that one!

Of course, that is before I saw the price on both of them... Ouch. ;)

As soon as I saw it I was reminded of the Tesla pickup, albeit much better looking than said pickup. All the contours appear to have an edge to them. I think it could grow on me however, if I was a bmw guy…..

I stopped by my local dealer this morning to get my BMWMOA Annual Mileage Contest forms signed and went up to a salesman and asked if they had some release information or perhaps a R1300RT in the crate (out of at least 60 new Ducatis, BMWs, and Royal Enfields in the showroom there was not a R1300RT.) He sort of acted surprised when I asked him but he went onto some website and pulled up a 6 minute video. I think it has some K bike angles and curves. Doesn't grab me. They won't have one for "a while" but when he signaled to other employees to come and look several of them chatted excitedly about some of the features highlighted on the video. Improved radar, heated backrest to a new pillion seat, dynamic aerodynamics, etc. At the end of the video was a flash of the new R1300RS coming next. Overall I think the RT looks loads better than the R1300GS redesign but I am extremely happy with my now hopelessly technologically left behind 2007 RT but it won't last forever. At any rate the price of admission will keep me looking and not buying something new. In fact I recently listed my 2018 Goldwing for sale. I think I'm entering into the downsize decade of riding.

In Germany, the base price is €22,890. You'll never see an RT with this configuration at a dealer. You can easily add €9,000 in special equipment.
