Just got my bike back from the shop today. Now I am all set for the season.I had budgeted $2000 for maintence and upgrades. I knew it would be expensive since it was time to rebuild the calipers and replace the rotors. I also needed new tires and had an oil leak at the back of the engine , hence why the bike was at the shop. I planned on about $1000 for the work being done at the bike shop (Tires, oil leak, various fluid changes), figured since it was at the shop save me some work. As for teh brakes I figured I would do the work myself. Finding a good non OEM rotor was the first hurdle. Dealership and the bike shop I use siad EBC was a good option. Well it is if you only need the Left rotor. Checked on line, called EBC and was told nope they only have Leftones still in stock. Kinda odd, so after about 20 mins of searching and confirming I ended up going with SBS rotors.
Once the rotors came in I started to dissasemble everything and clean it. Once I got the calipers cleaned I looked at all the hard wareand decided to replace everything (see pic below). I had budgeted about $500 given the prices of the rotors last summer. What didn't plan on was the cost of he bolts and slide pins. Came to about $80. When I had bought everything it was about $800 for all of it. Ouch! I choose not to go with Honda's as the cost was nuts $475 each.
On a happy note i finally bought an android auto device. I went with a carpuride 502. I liked the fact that I can mount it to my bar and have it out of the way and not sticking up near my hand grip. I plan to add a usb port in one of the faring pockets along with a rubber holder for my phone. It's not the biggest screen 5" but it fits right where i wanted it to. The one feature I really wanted was to have Android Auto. The voice commands with out having to take your hands off the bars is awesome. The navigation is good. I'll probably give my two sense worth after riding season.
