G'Day...

7°/18°C, another glaring, sunny day... but don't despair, the weekend will bring night-frost again... (so good that I haven't activated the irrigation system yet...)

Got my trusty Toyota back... fits me like a well worn sneaker, sooo smooth... and my stereo... ensuring a good mood...

Any travel/riding plans might be impaired in the next few weeks, maybe months...
An outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Slovakia and Hungary... Austrian armed forces assist the containment measures (checkpoints, decontamination of vehicles, etc...)
Zoos have closed, small border crossings shut down, larger ones under heavy monitoring...
Brings back memories from the 70ies, couldn't even leave Vienna without having to pass 3 checkpoints back then... hope it subsides soon...

Office, usual routine (except the commute being more pleasing again ;); it'll peak once the ST is out though...)

Have a nice w/e, methinks ze GF will ambush me with some gardening chores...

cheers!

Thx Martin!
So we better close our mouths, do we?

8˚c/46f, sunny, a breeze, sunny.

Clean house, clean car, mowe lawn for the first time.

Son coming home for the weekend, so picking him up at the airport later.

Told him he could get whatever he wanted for dinner, he chose mac’n cheese….
Says I make the meanest around, and it really feels like the good old days when he still lived here.
Who am I to disagree…

There must be wine at some point later.

Have a spendid weekend!
Stu

Snoop this morning, contemplating whether to eat me or not…..

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee Martin. Keep your mouth closed and your feet on the ground, and you'll be fine.

It's a thundery, rainy, h-u-m-i-d 68°F in Rockville. That's as warm as we'll be all day, evidently, and we may get rained on until around 1500 hours, then again overnight starting at 0000 hours. We badly need the moisture so it's all good.

I have nothing planned for today, which I think I can manage to accomplish.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, because tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks, Martin.

Finally, a full night’s sleep, without the phone screaming a weather alarm in the middle of the night. Four nights of alarms was getting old. Yesterday’s weather was as bad, or worse, as any I’ve seen in 3/4 of a century. Tornado warnings from 2:00 AM, until 8:00 PM. The local TV station aired live weather reports the entire time.

4” of rain, 70 MPH wind, and 3” hail. Needless to say, I’ll be searching for a paintless dent repair shop, as both vehicles now have dimpled hoods. I probably need the roof inspected also.

We get a break in the rain today, with a high of 81, before heavy rain on Sat and Sun.

Oh, did I mention the severe flooding. Pffftt. What a day.

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Martin. 47F on the dog walk with some clouds and stars to view. the roads are wet so we got a light rain some time last night or this early morning.
have gym this morning and the wife said something about finishing the window screen replacement we started last Sunday. sure thing I said as we only 3 more to do. the afternoon high should see 63F and cloudy. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, all, and thanks for the start-up, Martin!

The rain stopped earlier than expected yesterday, the sun came out, and it got way warmer than predicted; I actually saw a few neighbours sitting out on their decks in t-shirts. "Not so fast," said Mother Nature, wagging her finger. Today will be quite pleasant, in that conditions will alternate between "mainly sunny" and "a mix of sun and clouds," but it won't be anywhere near as warm. It's currently 4°C/39°F with a feels-like of 0°C/32°F, and we'll eventually reach a high of 9°C/48°F. Snow's all gone from the little park I look out on, though, and the ducks are back, enjoying the pond and the creek. Slooowly but surely...

@motomac: Glad to hear Carole's doing well, Mac!

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's cloudy and 58, becoming sunny as the temperature rises to 62.

Yesterday, I was supposed to open the restaurant for the delivery of my friend's new washing machine. When I got there, I found that no one had moved any of the items on and around it, in spite of my reminder, so I got to do that. The delivery itself went okay, and I disposed of the used machine before heading to the gym.

I may head to the gym in a bit, but need to go light on my leg exercises, since my right knee is swollen, after Tuesday's exercises.
I've also got to check on the Wing, as I've heard nothing from the shop.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Thanks for the bean juice Martin, glad you got your car back.
Do the authorities require all livestock to wear masks? Hope this passes soon.

Great weather this weekend except Sunday, several tasty event choices for tomorrow, but I can't do all of them. There's World Superbike at Barbers this weekend, the SE Backroad Discovery Route showing at a bike shop in Fayetteville GA, blues and barbecue at a decades-old, award- winning BBQ restaurant, a crawfish boil, and some other things I'm forgetting.

But I've been reminded the STOC in North Georgia is NOT this weekend.

Leaning toward the SEBDR with free lunch, it's only 3 hours' ride. Some may recall i already saw the movie at a shop here in town, but it's worth seeing again and getting out for some riding. I met two of the Route planners lasted time, and they'll probably be at this one too. Super cool guys, close to my age. My best riding buddy is being called out to attend a wedding in Nashville, I'm thinking I'll have more fun than he.

But after the Saturday shenanigans, whatever they may be, it's Stormy Sunday with the alerts, preparations, and all that comes with the possibilities of damage and destruction, as John has already noted.

I'm not required to make any decisions, so I'll figure it out later.

As the late Jerry Garcia reminded us,

Morning all! Sunny with scattered cloud right now and will stay that way for the rest of the day. Currently 6C, the high will be 13C. Actually contemplated breaking out the mesh jacket after the ride home yesterday but probably jumping the gun a bit.

Working from home today as my wife has physio later this afternoon so no ride in but maybe I can sneak out later. It truly is an addiction. Plus a nice break from the madness.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Martin & All from a sunny, with clouds, kind of day in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 40F, up from 25F, and heading for 47F. According to the weather guessers, we "might" get some rain, later in the day. We'll see. I'll know once it's on the ground. A slight breeze now, but later we'll see the winds coming out of the NNE @ 16 to 25mph.

@motomac Great news Mac, glad to hear Carole is doing well!

@ST1100Y Martin, yeah, it sounds like our bird flu here. Our previous Administration in control, decided to fix the problem was to have the farmers destroy a large percentage of the chickens. Which of course, caused egg prices to skyrocket! :censored: Let's hope, those over there in charge come up with a better solution! :think1:

Well, I just had a heck of a night. I had a rough time getting to sleep, and a few hours later, my stomach decided to wake me up. After that I couldn't lay down, so I had to prop myself up in bed to try to sleep. I woke up a bit ago, and don't dare eat or drink anything at this point. It should make a great day! NOT!!!

Yesterday I pulled the clutch apart on the cop bike. What a mess! It looked like someone took a torch to it!

I didn't think it would be good, but, wow! I do have another that I'll be installing, once I can replace both baskets!

Hopefully I'll be able to eat soon, or maybe I'll just try drinking a Pepsi and see what happens.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Yes, kinda comparable to a full blown Brucellosis outbreak... jumping species and such... isolate, eradicate infected livestock...
Devastating to the farms and industry, creating shortages and dependency in imports...

BTW: that clutch is toast... literally...

That bird flu is nasty stuff. It's not just the chickens it impacts but also cattle herds and people.

Part of the issue with eggs in the US, is that they tend to be produced in very large "super" farms which ordinarily helps keeps costs down due to efficiencies of scale. Unfortunately, when you get a virus it spreads quickly and requires culling of the birds, which given the size of these farms, means a lot o' dead chickens. Not the only factor but a significant one.

You'd think that chicken prices would drop though...i mean cook it thoroughly of course.
