2025 WoodSToc 3 - Aug 14 - 17, 2025 - Kingsclear, NB

New Brunswick is known for naming every little clump of houses, as well as hamlets, villages, etc. Road-signs don't always indicate where you are, but no worries, you're not lost! The map to which the link leads you, will show "Upper Kingsclear". From there, look for Mazerolle Settlement Road - our venue is at about the midway point along that road.
Btw, the venue's name as shown in their website, is a bit misleading, since there's no grill! However, its a prime location, with not only domes, but also tent camping, as well as an increasing likelihood of cabin completion. By "completion" I mean their plumbing and wiring still must be connected to the buried piping and wiring. Of course, I'll keep an eye on the place, and ST-O people will be the first to know!

I understand Marine Atlantic offers discounts on precooking starting Nov.29, for a short time. I understand the discounted price may be 20%. Well worth it if you want a cabin, and are traveling to and from Argentia as I plan to do again this summer. Good to know you have a date set for WoodSToc again.

Are you you positive about the domes, there was talk of them not keeping the domes when we stayed in August.

It was a fun event I would go again but Cherie doesn’t want to go to motorcycle event next summer so I will look for something else.

Just trying to figure out the logistics plan for getting over and back from the Rock... best times, routes etc. Also need to get a new trailer to haul, or get The Leech's suspension fixed, but I digress.

Current vague idea is Sydney to PAB, am or pm crossing tba. Unsure if it's better to sleep on the ferry overnight or cross during the day and stop in Stephenville or Corner Brook for the night. In Mrs. Obo style we'll be "roughing it with at least 3 stars." We won't tell her the ferry has no stars except overhead... LOL

Make our way across Nfld sightseeing. Unsure of how much time to allot for this. 7 days, more.....? Things to see, things not to miss... Nfld newbies, lol.

Finally depart Argentia for Sydney, Saturday or Monday night, with a layover at Chateaux Obo* until leaving for WoodSTOC Thursday afternoon. Local sightseeing would liklely be included...

Thurs night, Fri, Sat - enjoy WoodStoc.

Depart Sunday noon for Chateaux Obo.

*We may also try and factor in a visit to Fortress Louisburg in Sydney. Mrs. Obo's a big history buff and never been there. I've been there twice, but it's been a long time. We may do it before leaving for PAB, but contemplated doing it on the return sail, and cutting down on the home layover sleeps before WoodSTOC.

Last time we went to Newfoundland we took the daytime crossing and then spent the first night in Rose Blanche at the Lightkeepers B&B. It was a isolated spot to spend a night, the other guests were on a bicycle trip which impressed us.

Having enjoyed most of what NFLD has to offer on a motorcycle, 7 days is not enough. You can spend that alone on the west coast of the island from Rose Blanche to L’Anse-aux-Meadows.

Don’t skip the Port-au-Port loop and Lark Harbour. Both spectacular!

Louisbourg was equally excellent and interesting. Lots of upgrades to buildings and parapets but the location had lots of that old world charm.

Good luck with the planning. Don’t hesitate if you have any questions.

All cabins are now showing on the booking page..... unsure if the photos are of the actual insides. Photos only of the five, one bedroom (sleeps 4 with the pull out sofa) ones. No photo of the larger 2 bedroom unit.

@Happy Rob Marine Atlantic sale - 50% off, BUT only valid for trips Dec15,2024 - Jan31,2025, that are booked by Dec 6th. :(

I was all excited until I got to the fine print.

I'm mostly going to be camping around Newfoundland this summer but I do need my mainland fix. I lived and worked in Fredeericton for 15 years so it will be good to have a decent visit in the area.
