• Start with a City beginning with A
    • This is BY STATE
    • Similar to the Tag contest, there will be one thread per state
    • Post a picture of your bike AND some sign, building etc which clearly shows the city/state you're in
    • The next person posts from a city with the name beginning with B, then C, D, etc
    • You can't posts back-to-back pics, you have to wait for a person to post the next city
    • Once Z is reached, the game starts over with A
    • If your state doesn't have a city beginning with the next letter in sequence, it's okay to skip that letter
    • If the location sits for more than one month, the person that posted that is open to move it to the next letter.

The World Wide game is a bit different as it is by whatever is considered a geographic type of regional category, state/province/village etc. and all those will be in the single World Wide A-Z topic.

Starting off with Adamstown (which does double duty as a Name tag for me). Knowing what difficulties we are having moving the MD tag (thought about going after it today but decided western MD was just a bit out of range, especially since I don't know exactly where the tag is...) I'm more than happy to have help from all and sundry but also willing to plug away on my own if it comes down to it.

Checking my Rand McNally road atlas as well as my DeLorme MD Atlas and Gazetteer, I see there are no entries for X, and only a limited number of Ys and Zs so when we get to Round 4 there'll be a need for a few repeats. But that's a ways down the road (so to speak).

<crickets> So, we've had a crappy winter. Now it's over so I'm giving this a bump, and B for Boonsboro:

Don't make me play alone!

C for beautiful, bustling, downtown Coatsville. I can't believe NOBODY else is out today (*) ... it doesn't GET any nicer. (*EDIT: I meant out moving tags. There were of course LOTS of other bikes out there...)

Drat, forgot about the A-Z game and didn't check it before I left. It does get nicer than today: Wednesday was awesome.

Well there's always tomorrow. Damascus, Darnestown, Deale, Dawsonville, Derwood, Dickerson, Davidsonville are all within relatively easy reach and I'm ineligible to play for the next month unless I get some help...

Okay, I've waited two months. Been through here more than once since I became eligible to set the tag again and never stopped to pick up the easy "D":

D for Dickerson.

Meant to get this posted up yesterday but no matter. Clearly nobody else was waiting on it...

Do we have an "F"?Emmitsburg20150823_122700.png

So I am forced to continue advancing through the alphabet of MD towns on my own, eh? So be it.

Bagged the F on my way to move the MD tag today... what a great day for it.

"F" for Funkstown, just south of Hagerstown. (Thanks to Blrfl for prodding me to skip Frederick as too easy and obvious.)

All I know about G is that if, left to me, it will be neither Gaithersburg nor Germantown unless I can find something especially interesting about them.20151010_133731MDFunkstownWebsize.jpg

Technically a day early, but I doubt anyone else is going to Bruce me so...

G = Gaithersburg.

H for Hagerstown. That's it for me for this year, unless there's a new player suddenly added.

We open the 2016 MD A to Z tag season with I for Ijamsville.

As near as I can determine, there's really very little "there" there. Had to hunt for a while to find something with the name on it; Heaven bless the Methodists for coming to the rescue in my hour of need. Much better than the Ijamsville Post Office, which either doesn't exist as a recognizable entity or else is cleverly camouflaged as someone's house. Google claims it exists but you could not prove it by me.

Well, I went out and got it this morning so I guess I'd better post it. Funny thing is, I'd forgotten that I got the I back in March- thought this was the season-opener. Glad to see it wasn't.

And today I got the K, being serendipitously in the area while on my way home from a weekend trip.

K for Keedysville.

Six weeks between letters. Tsk, tsk; I'll try to do better.

L for Lineboro, just barely in the state.

You can't tell from the photo but the two bronze plaques to the left of the engine house door are the names of Lineboro soldiers (KIA I think) from WWI and WWII.

This month's selection: M for Middletown

Almost had to abort the run when my phone (doubling as camera) jarred loose from the X mount on a rough bridge crossing. FORTUNATELY it lodged in the space between the forks, the tank, and the left side pocket, but it busted the protective tempered glass and also did in the screen itself.

Diverted to a local mall and got it fixed (replaced screen), then on to finish the mission. Phew...

Lesson learned: ALWAYS use the rubber securing device that RAM so thoughtfully provided... even if it does add two seconds to the routine every time I mount up or leave the bike.

O for Olney, which may be it for the year unless we get a mild day somewhere around Christmas:

Q for Quince Haven Estates, a subdivision just at the corner of MD 28 and Quince Orchard Road.

And so begins the 2017 MD A to Z season. If I'm diligient and lucky with the weather, I could finish the state this year.

I bring you R for Rockville. This was an easy one since it's where I live, but I didn't have time to get farther afield.
