Which Tires are best for my 2010 ST1300A?

The answer is very much an issue of personal preference - I think it is impossible to objectively state "this tire is the best".

Personally, I prefer Michelin PR4 GT tires, this because they last a long time. They are expensive to buy, but total cost of ownership is very reasonable.

That's a loaded question! :)

You will get many answers. I just installed Bridgestone Battlax T31's . Some like the more expensive Michelin PR4's .....good luck

Jarrett:

If you are selling the bike, as indicated by your post For Sale: 2010 ST1300A 15958 miles., you might be better off to discount the selling price by the average cost of a new set of tires (don't forget to consider installation costs), and then let the new owner choose the tires they want. I think that would make the bike more attractive to a potential purchaser, especially if the purchaser is familiar with ST 1300s and has their own preferences about tires.

I've used Bridgestones since 2009 with no issues.
If you purchase this brand, just make sure you choose the GT specification, ie: Battelax T31 GT.
They added more reinforcement for heavier touring bikes.

Any thoughts on Avon"s?
I had a blow out on the rear when I first bought my ST and wanted to try Avons, they are not made for these heavy bikes.

+1. I was just about to post the exact same suggestion when I saw Michael's post.

I’ve run Bridgestone BT021,& 023. Dunlop that I don’t remember the model, they were the worst by far! And Michelin PR2’s, 3’s and I am putting a set of 4GT’s on this weekend.
I got good mileage and service out of the BT’s but I am a Michelin guy. I run them on both cars, the bicycle and the ST.

I use Pirelli Angel GT tires. I usually get 10 to 12 thousand miles out of the rear tire and about 20,000 out of front tire. These tires are great for rain and for cornering. I have had no issues whatsoever with these tires. I think I paid $250 for both front and back tire. I have used these tires ever since I purchased my ST1300.

I have had both the PR4 GT rated and Battlax T31 GT rated and prefer the T31's for the weight that I carry.
They are both good choices!

I have Avon storm 3d's on my bike now. Good tire. I had Pirelli Angel GT's prior. Avons were just as good for me and less expensive. They replaced them with Spirit St's.

Thanks for asking. I'm about to buy my first set for the ST1300 I picked up last October.

Appreciate this! I ride rain or shine and appreciate input on wheels from anyone else who lives and rides in the cold and wet. I find rain isn't so bad if I'm not nervous about my traction. Any wet riders from the UK care to chime in? :)

If you mount you're own tires, you won't want the Bridgestone! If you go to a dealer, that's a different story!
After a bout of ham fistedness by yours truly, my bike is currently in a dealers workshop (not Honda, but the mechanic has a 25 year history with Honda).

They called me today to tell me that the tyres are getting a little on the low side, and there's a weird depression on the front one. What did I want them to do.

After a quick discussion about prices... and the guy being astonished at my 11k miles on a pair of BT031s, despite their recommendation for BT023s, they're putting 31s on it again.

They also spotted that the dust seals on the brakes are perishing with age... I laughed heartily at the 4 hour labour quote for that...
