I recently switched to a Nolan N103 helmet and really like it so far. My only question is how to lock it. I've got a modified Helmet Guardian mount under my Givi plate but the N103 doesn't have D-rings. I was wondering how other users are locking the helmet.
Thanks,
Mike

Well on the ST1100, it fits in the Saddle Bags (and the Givi trunk too).
But without D-rings (How does it strap to your head?) you might have to put it in the trunk.

I have a little lock also hanging from my trunk to lock to.

The Nolan helmets have uick release chin strap that doesn't use the traditional D-ring. It actually works out pretty nice (except for locking).
Normally, I put my helmet in my top box but I was asking the question more for the times when I'm traveling and there's no room in the side bags or top box.
I may need to look into a gun lock with a short cable.

Hi Mike,

Check out this picture.

For times when the bags/top box are full I have a cable lock that I thread through the passenger hand holds and then through the chin bar.

Works really nicely.

Contact these folks, they have just what you need (I have one on my ST). I don't see it on their web site, and I'm too lazy to go take a photo for you, but is a metal tab that slips through the helmet ratchet and then allows you to lock your helmet to a lock.

If you PM me your email address I will send you a photo via my cell phone (I can do that without the hassle of the camera) been a long week for me and I woke up early so I'm still tired.

Here are the slip through plates that work for the ratchet style chin straps.

I either put my 102 in the side bag, or on the seat, free for the taking. No one has taken me up on that offer yet.

Gun lock. Set your helmet on the passenger seat and run the gun lock through the passenger grab handle and the chinbar.

The lock is plainly visible, and therefore should convey to would-be thieves that they're out of luck.

A bicycle or gun cable lock works. Also consider the kind meant for skis which is usually made to handle moisture and crud without corroding.

The helmet hanger from AirRider looks like it will work perfectly. Thanks for all the responses.

It will fit in the Pan topbox or the saddlebags of an ST1300.

I also have a Master brand cable lock from Home Depot that I can use as already mentioned: Run the cable lock through the passenger grab handle/s then through the the visor opening above the chin bar. I often also run the cable through my jacket and leave that locked to the bike as well. This is when I'm on a trip and have other stuff in the saddlebags.

I also have a few of the airider thingies that slip through the ratchet part of the chin strap but find either of the above methods quicker than taking the seat on and off.

Now that I'm wearing a brand new Schuberth C3 there's not a chance I'll leave in unlocked on the bike unless it's on my head. Most comfortable helmet I've ever owned, but VERY expensive....but woth it.

I have a N102. What I have done is grasp the side with tab. If you look at it the strap that it attaches to is a loop. I simply slide the tab across the loop and hang the helmet from the loop.

Other good options have been mentioned. The short gun lock which might be had for free from your local police department or the tab that goes through the ratcheting side of the clasp.

I am moving from my N102 to a Shoei and I will miss that quick release.
