Brian, you know we want, nay, need photo's of an ST11 in Israel. Its Christmas after all, not that you'd Know it in England at the moment.
I can't imagine you won't find a Yuasa in Israel.
Welcome to the table Brian.
Upt'North.

Most of the people in Israel probably don't know it's Christmas either... ... I kind of doubt it is a popular holiday there.

Brian: Go ahead and get the Yuasa YTX14-BS battery. It's the OEM specification battery, not cheap but good value for the money. It will do the job reliably, and it will probably last for about 5 years. There is no benefit in your climate to buying a more expensive or exotic battery. You also don't want to get a cheap off-brand battery, because it is no fun to get stranded somewhere 2 years down the road when the thing fails.

Typically 8 years on Yuasa here and only replaced at that time because I felt I had had my money's worth out of them. Also have the same Deltran Battery Tender since 1995, which has helped to maintain the long battery lives.

Weren't there two different YUASA versions avail?
I reckon a YTX14-BS (200A) and a YTX14H-BS (250A)
My original YUASAs were great, the replacement ones (genuine YUASA) were worthless.
I ride year around, so there is no need for battery tenders.
IIRC, there was lengthy discussion somewhere on this forum about original YUASAs vs replacement YUASAs.
Again, IIRC, there was someone that was pulling originals out of new power equipment and offering them for sale.
As I said, I've got excellent service in 4 ST1100s over 100,000's of miles with the MOTOBATT units.
And having the extra set of battery terminals makes for a very clean set up if you add accessories.
MOTOBATT holds various battery patents and are involved in quite a bit of motosports from what I understand.
But you rolls the dice, you play the game - it's your money.

Count me as one of the ones that would never buy another YAUSA. My last one lasted 3 years and quit with no warning. I am now running a shorai lithium battery, but I don't know if I could recommend it or not. It has been trouble-free and it turns to bike over a lot faster than the AGM battery but I've only had it a short time so I don't know what it will be like in the long run. It was not cheap but neither was the yuasa that let me down. When I bought the yuasa, I thought "spend the money get a good battery" and it turns out it was money wasted and then you read other people who get good deals on batteries that may not have the biggest name but they work just as good or better. Live and learn.

As far as I know, lead acid batteries are like incandescent light bulbs in one respect. Nobody can predict how long an individual sample will last.

Just out of curiosity, what brands are available to you in Israel?

yeah, I was going to ask the same thing. Seems pointless to list a bunch of different battery recommendations that aren't available there anyway.

OP, tell us your options, and we can probably provide some guidance. The stock Yuasa model number was provided in the first reply, use that as a cross reference for what you can source there.

I reckon the OEM ones had the pink imprint... as did the ones you could order via the Honda dealership... highly priced, but 5 years life expectancy...
The regular retail types have a white imprint, cost noticeable less and feature about 1/3rd of the lifetime... lucky if you'll get 2 seasons out of them...

I bought this one in April 2019; will return to this thread in a few years and post an update.

I thought there was a difference between 'original' vs 'replacement'.
I get over 5 years out of my 'cheaper' AGM MotoBatts - but mine never see a 'battery tender'.

I went with a Shorai LFX on both my ST-1100 and FJ-09. I believe the one in the ST is approaching 3 years old, 2 yrs on the Yamaha. So far, so good! And they weigh just slightly more than the box they ship in!

How is the Shorai in the cold (30's) Pat?
I use Interstate. So long lived, and reliable. I do use Deltran Battery Tenders year round though.
