What size battery (sealed lead acid or AGM) do I need
for a 2007 ST-1300? I want to buy a replacement one, since I have no idea how old the current one is.
I got the bike, used, a week ago.

Thanks.

Yuasa YTZ14s or equivalent. Careful where you buy, tons of counterfeit out there. I got mine from RevZilla this summer, not cheap but I know it's the real deal.

Not worth it to me to save a few $$ only to be stuck somewhere paying for a hotel, looking for a tow and or buying another....cheap or fake batteries cost more in the not so long run IMHO.

Battery’s plus carries our battery.
They know which ones with bike model/year.

Your battery should have a date and series number on it somewhere , 12,14 or 20 and may use different prefix's (etx, etz ..) just make sure the + post is on the correct side to be safe . AGM batteries are better and are becoming more common. I used a number of different batteries from amazon with no problems that included some overnight camping that got into the mid 30's f. Just use the ones that have good reviews. I test mine every spring. Things that kill batteries, heat, cold and not being used. And a Yusa battery is not a few bucks more, 2 and 3 times more.

If you go AGM, know that some battery chargers/maintainers will not properly charge an AGM battery. Read the instructions that came with the maintainer/charger.

Your money your choice, my money my choice, right?

I don't believe in buying crap and rolling the dice, I prefer to buy known good quality and remove doubt and worry about those parts from my travels.

Reviews on Amazon or other sites are out of the box or short term reviews, such as a few days or weeks, I ride tens of thousands of miles a year, most people ride hundreds of miles a year, and such for them a battery that lasts 3 years and 5000 miles is "good" hmmm....nope I'll stick with name brand quality.

But again, my money, my choice. You all spend your money how you want.

I had a crap YUSA once . I put 12000 miles this past year, 18000 the year before so my review is NOT short term. Do what you want but chill Dude.

I'm impressed, I rode more....that wasn't my point, who swings the bigger stick isn't the point, and I'm chill but my point is, you cannot rely on Amazon and YouTube reviews as long term, or by riders who ride as you do, same conditions, same miles, etc, most are either paid, fake or short term out of the box reviews and basically useless and Amazon sells tons of garbage and knock offs....like I said your money, your choice.

my original Honda supplied Yusa battery in NEW ST 1300 lasted 6 months then dead as a doornail. All batteries are a crop shoot. My current 5 year old $60.00 Walmart battery fired up very well this 35 deg f morning. Your money your choice.

So, as I'm shopping on Amazon and other places, what model numbers or code numbers do I need to look for?
YTZ14 ...? Is that a designation that's specific to one brand of battery, or will various brands still use this number?

The physical dimensions I need are (specs on the Yuasa YTZ14s) :
AMP HOURS: 11.2
Dimensions:6 in. x 3 7⁄16 in. x 4 3⁄8 in.
Weight:8.6 lbs.
Metric Dimensions:150mm x 87mm x 110mm

********************************
I see AMAZON has a "Mighty Max" battery with that same model number,
also 11.2 Amp Hours, and dimensions of 6"D x 3.44"W x 4.38"H.

Both the Yuasa and this knockoff from Mighty Max have the same 230 CCA cold cranking amp rating.

So, the same size and same power rating. It's also a lead-acid AGM battery.
For $35.

I agree with you 100%. But not to upset others , so " In my opinion " :crackup: :twocents1:

The YTZ14S denotes the type, capacity, physical dimensions, post orientation, etc..
From memory so don't bet on it.
Y = Yuasa
TZ = High performane AGM
14 & S I can't remember- Maybe capacity and chemical type.

The reality is that Yuasa is one of the biggest players so you will see their reference number used to cross reference on other manufacturer and vendor sites. As long as it is equivalent to the YTZ14S you should be good as far as fitment. Chemical type and quality is another story. Just as with any product some are better, some are worse.

One thing to watch for is the CCA. Some are listed as equivalent to the YTZ14S but have less than the Yuasa 230 CCA. Higher CCA is good. You don't want less.
