-1/+2°C today, overcast, in ze morning all horizontal surfaces covered with a thing layer of "powder sugar"... all melted by now...
Yep, that's what actually arrived after the "snow warning" issued last evening... pfffff...
But we've already learned that this is only "industry snow"... whatever...

Cold, humid, windy, more sleet expected for the afternoon... the car washed last Friday is dirtied up again... pfffff...

Placed an order in Japan this morning, '00 ST1100 will be due for the timing-belt shebang... customs will have a field day...

have a good day!

Good morning everyone,
Thanks for the coffee.
Starting at -4C (24.8 F) this morning and going up to 0C (32F) this afternoon with sunny breaks.
Hard to believe that I have only 2" of snow here on the west coast of Newfoundland.
Here I go being Canadian again... temps in metric, travel in kilometres, snow measurement and weight in Imperial.
Hope everyone has a great day.

good morning all. thanks Dave for the coffee just what I needed after the dog walk. it was 36F on the walk and a carbon copy of yesterday's walk. moon up high at 12 O'clock, no clouds and not a lot of stars. but as always an nice walk.
yesterday's electric blanket shopping trip went well. we escaped Wal Mart with a blanket and only a few other item's in the cart. I used the blanket to pre- warm the bed then turned it off as I got into the bed. it was great.
got gym class this morning but with a different instructor for 2 weeks as our instructor is headed to Italy for 2 weeks.
the afternoon is open to what ever comes a long. the high should hit 68F. enjoy the day

stay safe

Morning all, and thanks Dave, for the coffee and getting us going.

@st110y "vertical surfaces" had a dusting? Did you mean horizontal? (Vertical though when you are laying down.) It's all about perspective.

-11C here and yesterday's snow ceased overnight. Bright moon out under mostly clear skies for the commute in to work. Should reach -4C and mostly cloudy later on.

Remember: she'll have fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-bird away.

Obo.

G-g-g-g-g-ood-d-d-d-d m-m-m-m-m-m-morning everyone

Thanks for the hot black bean juice Dave.

It's 18°F and feels like nothing in Rockville. Supposedly it's clear but who really knows? It's dark. Sunny skies and a high of just 28 await, or so I'm told. Between the cold and the snow still on the ground from last week's falls, no golf for me for a while. At least not outdoor golf; I may try the indoor range / simulators at the local PGA Superstore.

I can feel the cold air from the window in front of my desk drifting across my fingers, so it's time I got the office windows sheathed in plastic. That's going to be a nuisance though, because to get to the window I'll have to clear my desk, relocate two monitors, and take down the blind, then kneel or stand on the desk to hang said plastic. I've got a total of nine windows left to do. Ugh, but the end result should be positive (warmer, and lower heating costs) so I'll soldier on.

Stay safe and well (and WARM) everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good morning!!! Certainly a lot of you up early this morning! Thanks for the coffee, if the spoon stands up in it, it's dark enough.

I witnessed an amazing close call yesterday that I thought I would pass along since it definitely woke me up. Wife and I saw the danger at the same time. Four way stop, two lanes plus turn lanes at all four approaches, traffic in our direction had a red light. A middle aged driver in the rightmost go-straight lane is impatient, rapidly moving his head right to left, repeat....we both knew this dipstick was going through the red. He did, hit his gas and jumped straight through the red. The driver approaching the intersection from the right was able to come to a stop just a few feet from hitting his right side. To the left was a bagger rider minding his own business....going about the speed limit, 40mph, and too close to miss. The rider was apparently very attentive, hit the brakes and made a very hard left, paralleling the offender by just a few inches....no contact, he maintained perfect control of the bike. His response was amazing since the offender was not visible to him 'til he was into the intersection a bit. No contact, both near-victims were terribly close to making the evening news but both were extremely alert and responded well.
Light changed and we went on our way...part way down the block, the biker was at the window of the runner, shouting constructive criticism and recommending strange sex acts directly into the driver's face.

Stay alert, this sort is out there apparently fishing for some excitement or just plain stupid.

Thx Dave, love the funnies too!

8˚c/46f, grey, 20mph breeze.

First walk in almost two weeks…that took a lot of energy today…

Now to cook some old school dinner…salted cod.

Have a good one!

Good morning, folks, and thanks for the coffee, donuts and giggles, Dave!

We'll have a mix of sun and clouds today, but no precip that I can see. -9°C/16°F with a feels-like of -17°C/1°F are the current numbers, and the high will be somewhere in the vicinity of -6°C/21°F with a windchill of -12°C/10°F. Looks like there's a "polar votex" coming through at the beginning of next week, so we'll be bracing for a few days of major brrrr. Well, it is January, and this is nor the Caribbean, eh?

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Morning all and thanks for coffee and donuts.

I may be a bit coffee'd out this morning. Just waking after I drove 20 hours straight through from Florida to Wisconsin. Kept thinking I'll stop when I get tired and well I just kept going. Must admit I'm too old for that nonsense but it sure feels good to be in my bed and not to have to get back in the car today. Part of it is my hotel choices are pretty limited traveling with the Doberman and as I get older skeezy hotels just don't work anymore.

Back here in the frozen tundra we have 4 whole degrees this morning warming up to the mid 20s. Not to worry this heat wave ends in a day or 2 with more cold air coming.
Think that's it from here, we're not moving too fast this morning..

Have a great day and remember be safe out there.

@ibike2havefun by the time you get the last of the 9 windows done, it'll be time to take the plastic back off.....

Well, the job of getting the plastic onto the office windows went WAAAAYYYYYY faster and smoother than any of the previous ones. Perhaps my technique is improving (e.g. cut the giant plastic sheet to width before attempting to stick it onto the tape, so that I'm not wrestling with a lot of surplus encumbrance), but a lot had to do with switching from a hair dryer to my electric heat gun (on High, held about a foot from the plastic) to do the shrinking / tightening / wrinkle removing step. What had taken perhaps a tedious half hour per window was accomplished in about two, maybe three minutes, and with a vastly superior final result.

[EDIT: my wife walked in, looked at the window, and asked whether I had done it yet. Since she wasn't certain I'm calling it "Good enough" and "Job done".]

Perhaps also consider not skating on that surface, just yet...

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Dave.

It's 17f and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 29, later. Wind will be 10-20mph, so it will feel colder.
On the subject of ice, the dog and I passed a lake on our trip, that someone had shoveled the snow off of, in order to make a hockey rink. I guess the ice is thick enough.

I got out to the gym and dog walk, yesterday, while Brenda was busy covering our new cabinets with shelf paper and putting away some of our pots and stuff. We had to make another trip to Home Depot for more shelf paper, and more shelf papering will occur, today.
I did some shopping, while she was bowling, and we met for dinner, afterward.
I also did some cleaning in the basement, since every horizontal surface was covered with dust and debris which was disloged by our builder.

Today might be a gym-only day.
Once Brend is satisfied with the condition of our new shelves, I may start bringing kitchen items back in from our trailer.
I measured the front doors and old refrigerator, and I'll need to remove the refrigerator doors in order to get it out of the house.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Me no like wakey-wakey before shiny ball come up. A late start for me today, ugh. Thanks for the joe *slurrp*. Gonna ooze into my chair and let that percolate down through my innards until I'm properly infused with the good feels that caffeine brings. Once I am safe for human contact, I'll head in to the office.

Oh, and it's 21/-5....like anyone really cares. I don't. Take care y'all...& stuff.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the cup, Dave.

Brrr. 21 and clear, with a high of 46. A little cool, but I need to change the oil in a couple of vehicles before next weeks surgery. Thought about getting the truck done at the dealer, but with prices starting at $450, I decided it’s not that cold in the driveway. Dang truck’s too tall to get in the garage, out of the wind.

Getting colder next week. 11 degrees on Wednesday morning, when I report to surgery. Wear pajamas, they said. Pfffttt. My 11 degree pajamas have wires and a controller.

Stay warm

John

Well Martin, don't we all need someone around, to tell us what's up, down and sideways?
Pfffttt.
Keith reminds us all, of the advantages of experience. Well done, sir.
Oldbikefixer, I bet that near miss was something to watch. Better than being the rider, I reckon. Noting the driver's "clues" shows you were paying attention, and that will often serve us to help stay alive and unbroken... thanks for the reminder.
Our "snow" event has passed, and fully melted, but the forecasters are already mumbling and hinting about another, next week. Apparently, these folk have forgotten we're in flipping Alabama, and that ain't s'posed to happen down here!
Clear and cold today, and thats enough of that.
Bundle up y'all, and don't forget yer mittens.
And where's Ray?
