Hope everyone is well.

I'm servicing my bike water pump. I'm confused about the propeller shaft depth. Prior to removing the propeller, I measured an Oem depth of 23.78mm per pic. My 2010 service manual reads 24mm spec.

A while back I read about a couple of members discussing the depth as 21mm per 2005 bulletin.

If I attempt new parts and install with 22mm depth, the prop blades hit the water pump housing. Am I missing something?

Thank you in advance, Rick

The water pump depth was not one of the errors noted in the service manual on the sheet that was circulated a while ago. I'd go with the book's recommendation. HOWEVER, I'm sure @Igofar or more knowledgeable folks will chime in.

24mm, gently pressed in, while supporting the bearing, or you will push the bearing out of spec and side load it.
You can install the bearing and mechanical seal, then use a depth spacer of 24mm and use a large C-clamp to press it into the correct depth, again, while supporting the bearing.
Do NOT touch the white or black seal on the mechanical seal, as even the oil from your fingerprints could prevent it from mating correctly, and cause leaking.

The first photo appears that the bearing was not supported, and pushing the shaft through can push the bearing out.
The next picture is where I’ve been seating them with good results.
The last picture was a simple c-clamp in a vice, and I used a flanged nut and a bearing driver plate, that together are a perfect 24mm with a hole large enough for the shaft to pass though.
This was just set up to show you how you can use a c-clamp.
When installing it, the cover would have kept you from seeing the prop etc.
