Vacuum fuel valve rebuild kits are $22.95 from Big Bike Parts. Here is a link: http://www.bigbikeparts.com/templates/product.aspx?ProductGuid=5-601&GroupGuid=16&catalogNo=
Here is a link to a video of the rebuild :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2APRgiXcuGU . It's for a GL1500 but the petcocks are the same.
The petcock leaked the 1st two times I tried the rebuild but on the third try it worked fine (knock wood). I found the big bike site looking for a video to see what I was doing wrong the 1st two rebuilds. I think I paid about $40 for my kit so hopefully this link will save somebody a few dollars.
I know that a lot of people bypass the fuel valve and I was going to do that when the valve leaked after my first try. I'm glad I kept at it because this rebuild is cheap and easy. I am glad I've got it back and the bike is as the engineers intended.
