Mornin’ y’all, well almost morning. The pot of Folgers is hot and ready, so help yourselves. I’m moving slow, so biscuits aren’t quite ready, yet.

It’s a little warmer this morning, at 14F, with an expected high of 23F. Just a little too nippy to enjoyable. Tomorrow is back to single digits. Warmer weather is on the way! However, it’s a couple of months out. Pffftt

John

"Coffee is always a good idea."

I dunno why its called beauty sleep...
I wake up looking like I've been run over by a truck...

-3°/-1°C, overcast, foggy with slight drizzle in the morning, with push and shove by the winds, the car provides the slight sensation of hitting a patch of ice here and there...

Despite office duties being kinda dull and less creative as the actual trades, not the conditions I'd prefer to climb around on rooftops and stuff...

Spotted a rider zis dark morning, some kind of sports-bike you've to maintain a fetal position on...
Ah the youth, more luck then brains I think...
dust, dew, particles of tire wear, paired with the humidity absorbed by the salt cover the deck with a snot like substance... at times even the car reacts like a cat on laminate flooring...

Alright, back to urgent tasks... have to safe the world and stuff...

have a good one!

A bit cooler up in the Ohio region through tomorrow anyway. Its a splendid thing
to look out the window, see a snow covered truck, and just smile and pour another cup.

y'all have a great day!

hugs.......a good source of warmth

Thank you John. The sky is clear, the 1/2 moon on the rise and 44° for the start. Going to sunshine and 72°. Womantriker was glued to the TV and the inauguration all flippin' day. I had to go to the lounge in our building to watch the Buckeyes dismantle the Irish. Ciao.

Ay up me Southern Duck, just back from Berwick-upon-the-Tweed, I'm ready for a coffee. Ta.
The weather is OK, it started just around freezin and won't get too far away from it, but the sun is out and any snow is over 1500ft or in Tennessee. They predict a storm, I say, pffffffftttttt.
I've got some motorcycle trousers to wrap up which will sell on ebay by tomorrow, there's already bids on them and my new waterproof leathers should be here today or tomorrow.
The B will want a blast off the Optimate too. Blummin winter.
Plus Er'Indoors new Shoei cheek pads have arrived so I can sort them out.
But first, coffee.
Av a gud un and remember, you can do it all again in 2028.
Upt.
Pffffffftttttt.

Morning all, and thanks John, for the coffee.

Cold here this morning is an understatement. -23C with a windchill of -31 and only a few clouds. Cold enough the beard froze walking from the car to the front doors of work today, and that's not too far. Even the snow cracks when you walk on it. The Sun's supposed to come up later and push us up to -9/-14. It's a venerable heat wave.

Heard there was some sort of commotion South of us yesterday. Nothing really on the news here. Guess the election race was news and yesterday is just old news. Wonder if our new leader race will make the Southern news?

Hope everyone has a great day and keeps warm.

Obo.

good morning all. thanks John for the coffee. 32F on the dog walk with a bright moon, some stars and a few clouds to enjoy as I walked. I have a trip to Walgreens this morning to pick up some med's and maybe a stop at Wal Mart and my day is done. the high should see 57F with 15mph winds. enjoy the day

stay safe

Morning and thanks for the coffee John.

I think I need to report a robbery. All of my "F's" disappeared overnight! In fact, there is a deficit. Like @Obo (is that a good thing to say?) It is -23C (-10F) here at my little house amongst the pines. It might hit the mid teens (in F's) today as a high and I believe it is supposed to be even colder tonight. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. I do admit the fresh snow from yesterday does look pretty nice out there!

Today will commence with meeting a friend for breakfast in a little while, some stops for reloading supplies and dinner tonight with another friend. I expect to hear a lot on the radio today about staying inside and warm...Pfffffttttt.

Stay safe, be careful and make sure there is a heavy coat nearby!

Scott

Thx John!
You can blame the weather on the government.
We do that, all the time, it works.

4˚c/39f, showers, calmish.

Drove Mrs Stu to doctors office to draw some blood.
She got an following up appointment for tomorrow.
Hope she can travel on Saturday…..

Now to train the cat to use his newly installed pet door in the garage….I see scratches on my hands in my near future.

Safe travels @ibike2havefun ! Hope they let you back in the country upon your triumphant return.

Have a good one!
Stu

Todays situation at the North sea……Ray to the left, as always

It has here, I remember seeing Carney's miserable face and someone of opposite gender, er name escapes me.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, John!

It's cold here too - not quite as bad as what they're getting Down East, but cold, nonetheless. -15°C/5°F with a feels-like of -23°C/-9°F now, going to -12°C/10°F with a windchill of -20°C/-4°F in a couple of hours. Mix of sun and clouds today, and the moon looks pretty cool this morning; it's as if someone took a sharp knife and cut it exactly in half, vertically.

I have to start work a little earlier than usual this morning, as I'll be away for about an hour and a half around midday so that the tooth torturer can take a major Xray of my jaw to see if the latest bone graft is doing any good. Fingers crossed.

@ibike2havefun: Safe travels, you two! Have a wonderful trip!

Everyone have a great day, stay safe (and warm) and go safely (and warmly).

Patty

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, John.

HOLY CRAP! It's -1f/-18c this morning! And it'll only get to 20f/-6, later...
The 10-15mph wind will make it seem colder.
If I had any thoughts of going skiing, that temp just killed them.
I know that some of you are experiencing colder temps, but just no...

Yesterday, I took some time to snowblow, and brush off both cars. I left them in the sun, and most of the residual snow is gone, now.
I also cleaned the old refrigerator, so I can put it on the FB marketplace.

Brenda was going to make dinner, for the first time in 4 months (!), but found that the new stove kept tripping the breakers when she turned the oven on. I texted our builder about that and a leak she found in the bathroom, and he was over within 10 minutes, and the electrician came here later in the afternoon and fixed the electrical issue. Arc-fault breakers apparently aren't appropriate for the oven.
We'll have a visit from the plumber at some point, but we're using a larger coffee can to catch the drips.

Brenda got tired of the endless repeats, and inauguration stuff, so we broke out the Fire Stick to watch season 2 of the Reacher series. Stayed up until 1:00am and got to episode 6.

Today, I'll sit INSIDE, and maybe get to the gym.
Brenda promised to make the broiled chicken that she had planned, yesterday, before she heads out to bowling.

Kieth, enjoy your trip.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Folgers John. Presumably by now the biscuits are out of the oven and ready for eating, that is if the cold hasn't rendered them into hockey puck firmness in the meantime...

It's 9°F here in Rockville, feels like 1. We'll peak at about 19, under partly sunny skies. I guess, given what @Obo and @sah48 and @steve3b3 are reporting in their locales, I'll forbear to complain about it and just shiver quietly as I hold my hands around the coffee cup to retain sensation in my fingers. Ah drat- the cup's a double-wall insulated model so the outside doesn't get warm. Time to find another strategy.

Safe travels @ibike2havefun ! Hope they let you back in the country upon your triumphant return.

@ibike2havefun: Safe travels, you two! Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks to both of you for the well-wishes. What's the penalty, I wonder, for overstaying a tourist visa in Laos or Vietnam by about four years?

Things to do before I depart:
  • Pull travel documents from the files and ensure they don't get left behind inadvertently
  • Put snow blower back in the shed, rather than leaving it on the front porch
  • Clear desk, or at least reorganize it
  • Move prescription sunglasses from car to travel gear
  • Pack meds
There's probably more to be done but this is what comes to mind.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. See you in about a month, unless I can find a way to check in from overseas.

Good morning all!
John, thanks for the biscuits, coffee and the start!
Did you accomplish enough cooking to provide nourishment while you convalesce?

I feel the cold for those where it’s well below freezing! That’s why I’m spending the family’s fortune here in the sunny south.

Another cool day here, 53/61 with a NE blow.
Hugs to all! Especially Dave & anyone else that needs them!

Morning All and Thanks for the coffee John. Guessing those biscuits are done by now. Could sure use a cup today moving a little slow. Spent the last day and a half driving from Wisconsin to Florida. We had 1 lonely degree when I left the frozen tundra and it didn't really warm up to just past the Florida border. Was 20 in Atlanta and that's cold for Southerners. Supposed to be a pleasant 54 degrees this afternoon here in Ocala.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and remember be safe out there.

Currently -12* with a wind chill of negative stupid.

Trash day. Not fun. It may get to 8* by the time I go get the cans back from the driveway. Until then it will be coffee and a Short Film Festival (literally short films, like 5 minutes or so).

Not much else going on for a few days while this strange storm front is in play.

You cats be safe and layer up.

Interesting note, on my drive south I saw 4 motorcycles on the Interstate, 2 solo riders and 1 pair. All were south of Atlanta and all were heading north so temps were in the mid 30s at best. 3 of the bikes were Harley RoadGlides not sure what the other was. My opinion of Harley riders has improved greatly!

Morning all! It's dark and frosty here, -1C with a -5C windchill. Still a far ways off what some of you are experiencing, my condolences, that is downright frosty. They say there will be sun later so it may warm up a bit to 5C. Haven't decided if I will ride in or take the car. It's not so much the cold on me that I am concerned about, having enough subcutaneous insulation, but rather the co-efficient of friction between tires and road as there will likely be frost going in.

I get to spend the day in training after being gang pressed into joining the office OHS Committee. All day tomorrow too. Apparently it will involve things like investigating workplace accidents (nasty paper cuts don't you know) and assorted other safety related things. There was some reading material I was supposed to read and neglected to do. If there's one word about that at the course, I'm out of there which actually means I'll just grumble under my breath....but it will be a lot of grumbling and involve some language best uttered sotto voce :D .

Keith, have an amazing trip and hope all goes well. We'll need pics and my t-shirt size is XXL.

Right, best get this day on the road so that I can put the horror of bureaucratic induced ennui to rest.

Hope everyone has a great day and get the details up front before you say yes!

Thanks for the coffee, John.
I don't know why @Obo and @Peppermint and their frozen friends decided to gift us with this frigidity. They can have it back. I've tried this winter sampler, and would like to return the unused portion.
Pfffttt.

Ah the youth, more luck then brains I think...
When training new riders, I would often tell them, "You are starting with a large bag of luck, and a very small bag of skill. Your goal should be to put more skill in the second bag until it's bigger than the bag of luck."

Tonight we're told it will be 12° and snow is expected, mostly to the south of us. Whaat?! We inaugurate a new President, and the whole world freaks out and turns upside down. It's s'posed to be warmer as we go to the South, innit?

In the end, I suppose it's only the natural Order Of Things, returning to a normal state of affairs from the recent feelings of insanity.

Whatever the cause, the world is still turning, the sun stays mostly in place, my dog still loves me, and I still have a job.

And bills to pay.

But some things will be different now, and not necessarily in a bad way.

Carpe your diems, y'all.
