Good morning hooligans, handy-folk and heroes. There's dark roast in the pot, and for those of you still up and saying "Obo, it's too early for coffee" there's some dark amber liquid you can sample: El Dorado 12 year old rum. It's a blended mix, with 12y old being the youngest.

Currently 3C and foggy, headed to 8C and rainy later on. I was just watching a fat raccoon out back at the bird feeder pole, having a nightly feed on everything the birds thru away. When that gets scarce, they climb the pole to get seed from the feeders, or just pull the feeders down and haul them off to the tree line.

Yesterday saw the mud in the bathroom get sanded, but no haircut. I also removed a solid door to our downstairs and a french door to the kitchen, and moved said french door to where the solid door had been. As the hinges were not in the same spots, that required remounting hinges in the door jamb as well as moving the striker and the door stop trim. Retrofitting used stuff is always a pain. The door frame where the old french door was, then required patching to fill the mortising for the door hinges as well as the striker. Removal of the door stop trim, and patching of those holes also took place. I'm also not sure why said doorstop trim was held in with 3" nails, when brads would have sufficed...

I see parts of the US had nasty tornados again (aren't they all nasty??) with quite a few deaths (32 I last saw in the news), and likely other casualties as well as property loss. Hope everyone is well, or the best they can be, that is affected. Mother Nature's a cruel beast sometimes.

Hopefully everyone's well, and either having fun, or fast asleep. Either way I wish you well.

Hugs, coffee, rum, prayers, handshakes or a mix of and or all,
Obo.

Good morning, everyone. Too early for coffee, said no one, ever. Thanks for the dark roast, Obo. I’ll pass on the dark rum, at least until after sunrise.

It finally quit raining, after getting 3” yesterday. Temperature is 58, but dropping throughout the day. Nothing planned for today, except for the possibility of picking up some Chinese food for lunch.

good morning all. thanks for the dark roast Obo. I think I will pass on the dark rum. but thanks for the offer. 42F on the dog walk with a clear sky and a bright moon to wash out the stars so you had to look really hard to see them. still as always an enjoyable walk.
wife said last night the she wasn't going to dog training. that she just needed a break. I said sure, we will find something to do. so today is up for grabs. the high should see 73F with clear sky. enjoy the day

stay safe

"If you're trying to impress me with your vehicle,
it better be a coffee truck... "

G'Day,

1°C zis mornin', gray overcast, won't get over 7°C... even colder tomorrow, they already issued a "snow warning"...

Nespresso maker is out of hibernation, the water tank topped up, capsules in the dispenser aside, mugs in the cupboard above :coffee:
Self baked dark grain bread, smoked Norwegian salmon from certified fish farming (@STooRay will cheer), "barrel-butter", local, made from milk off happy cows, creamed horseradish and mustard dill sauce as 'taste neutralizers', OJ to wash it down... choose your poison... ;)
(and have the fish-breath of a house cat for the rest of the day like us... :roflmao: )

despite the cold temps ze GF's garden awakens, snow-dots, primrose, spring snowflake(?), broom, violets, forsythia, etc... already blossoming...
Tulip leaves pierce the ground, lilac begins to show leaves, even the Marple tree show tiny drives on his twigs, ensuring us that it survived...

Not long and we'll have to aerate, fertilize and mow the lawn again...

enjoy a relaxing Sunday!

Good morning, and thanks for the early start, Obo.

It's foggy and 49 in MA this morning, rising to 64 and becoming cloudy, later.
More rain, tonight.

I cleaned up my friend's parking area with the backback blower, and fixed his broiler issue, before coming home and doing a bit more clean-up here.
Brenda ran out of luck at the casino later in the afternoon, and we dined at the restaurant.

We have no real plans for the day, but maybe I'll play tetris in the shed for a bit.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Hey all, and thanks for the coffee Obo. Storms weren't too bad in Birmingham, but we did have noise and water, but now the dark skies appear clear because a big bright moon is unimpeded by cloud cover. It is lightening - not lightning - as if the sun may be making an appearance in a short while.

Haven't heard the local news about damages or injuries, but did learn of tornadoes touching down elsewhere in the state. No rain forecast, 15° cooler than yesterday, putting us in the middle 60s.

I got the chainsaw put back together yesterday with new needle bearings, new e- clip, and new washer, and ran it with the bar off and the clutch cover panel off, just at a fast idle, and the clip didn't come off. I have a10-second video, but it is unexciting to watch. I'll put it to the wood after church.

The bike shop canceled the Victory demo rides, but didn't let anyone know. Kerry and I met up over there and it was a pretty day to ride, but we just hung around for a couple of hours looking at the new BMWs and Ducatis. He sold traded his KTM Superduke 1290 for a Harley Pan Am, to go with his GSA, HD cruiser (I can't tell the dressers, one from another), Hayabusa and GSA. There are a couple others in his stable too. But he doesn't have a Bushtec trailer.

But one of Kerry's friends passed away a couple of weeks ago, and in his will left Kerry a 2023 Slingshot. Kerry says he doesn't like it, and may sell it.

One of my best friends is in the hospital, he's 83 and had a mass removed from his brain. He already survived bladder cancer years ago, but other than that he is doing well. Oh yeah, his house completely burned down a month ago ...he is still hoping to find the arrowhead collection he has built up over 60 years.

Now that it is somewhat light, I don't see any new deadfall out here in the back yard. But that one tree that concerns me the most is still standing. He's gonna be a problem one day. The one in the center... maybe 70 feet tall. Have as good a day as you can...

Good morning all!
Thank you Obo for this mornings hot start!

It’s terrible the way the weather rips up people’s lives! Those that were in the path of destruction,
didn’t have much of a chance!

We’re off to add more pounds to this ever expanding waist line!

Currently 73/85F building to a thunderstorm later today, that south wind is going to keep us off the water.

God bless all this storm victims!

Back in '86 when I was in the Land of Oz the company I was working for had a special every morning by adding 7% Bundaberg rum to their coffee (limit one cup of course), so @Obo I'll try it just once since this 12 year old probably has a little more octane!

Anyway back to business!

rain today & cold tomorrow, well its still March after all!

hugs

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Obo! The rum sounds like a fine blend, but I'll pass as well for the moment.

It's a mild but grey, very wet day here, and although one might cheerfully say "yay, at least it isn't snow" and "it's yet another harbinger of spring," we're not naive enough to think winter's entirely done with us quite yet. In any case, the temperature range of 10°C/50°F to 15°C/59°F is most welcome, especially considering that our annual (and 200th) St. Patrick's Day Parade is happening today. Unfortunately, since it's going to rain all day, everybody involved, from the Grand Marshall, to the cops on duty, to the marching bands, to those stuck up on the floats, and all the spectators and kiddies in attendance are going to get soaked. That's not unusual, since our St. Paddy's Day Parade usually takes place in icky weather - it's been known to happen in snowstorms, sleet and bone-chilling cold. Mind you, that never seems to have deterred anyone, the parade always goes on and the turnout is always huge. Just means that more Guinness and Irish coffee gets consumed after the event. At least it's mild today!

The news and images of the damage caused by those awful storms are jaw-dropping. :( I'm so sorry for all those lost and for everyone who had everything they owned blown out from under them and their lives forever changed. I know Missouri got ripped up pretty badly - hope our members there are OK. Also saw that Alabama got hit, so glad to see your post, Mark.

@SupraSabre: Bob, I hope all's well with your #4 son and family.
@STooRay: I hope Peter enjoyed his birthday party! Loved yesterday's forest pic - looked like something out of The Lord of The Rings; I was half expecting an Ent to jump out at you (not that Ents can jump, of course). Also hope Mrs. Stu is on the mend!

Everyone have a truly fine day, stay safe, go safely and do something kind for someone.

Patty

Thanks Obo for the coffee and rum! If I'm gonna ruin a potentially productive day, it'll be because of good rum and not rain! I slept until after 8am! And it was my own bladder that woke me...when you dream of taking a piss, you should stop dreaming right away before it becomes reality.

The severe weather season has begun and we're supposed to get a little of it later today. Woke up to 62F/16.5C but the low was 52 back right at midnight...a warm front has definitely crept in. Sister in AR reported fire warnings, 2 hailstorms, and a dust storm in one day. Frogs and locusts are next.

Getting stuff done outside before it comes down. Get the riding mower started and flat tires fixed, put new rubbers on the snowthrower, walk the dogs, to start with. Then once everything is wet, probs work on some electronic things in my bsmt office/cave. Need to run to the store for tire tubes. Take care y'all!

Morning all! The sun is just starting to make an appearance, for the moment it looks like a mix of cloud and blue sky. The weather network says a mix of sun and rain for the day, which means they don't really know so try and cover all the bases. Currently 4C, the high will be 8C.

Was thrown a curveball yesterday; was all set to get to chores I had planned when I was informed a trip to Costco would be a good idea so I off I went to face the hordes. It was busy but not yet Costco crazy busy. Provisions were obtained and I got out relatively unscathed. Not having any kids at home anymore sure changes the Costco calculus though. Drum sized containers of peanut butter or mayo or whatever no longer seem to be a good idea as their shelf life no longer matches up with rate of consumption.

Not sure what's in store for the day beyond a good vacuum; Bernese Mountain Dogs are worse that Golden Retrievers for fur everywhere, I would not have thought that possible. Will need to take said Bernese for a walk today as I didn't manage to get to it yesterday and guilt + his energy are strongly motivating to get it done today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning Y'all, got a good night's sleep for once. Haven't watched the news yet, so praying for the folks effected by the Tornados. 39 F high of 47 F raining, may dry up for awhile this afternoon. Not sure what I will be doing today, most likely hit grocery store. Feeling a little stiff from fixing my Dad's tool box that I inherited. Bottom drawer had a broken slider , was spot welded to the box , but used pull rivets to reattach said piece. Getting off of the floor is still physically draining for me it seems. Thinking of selling it, but then there's that sentimental aspect to look at.
It's a craftsman, made in the USA and is as old as I am. Thanks Obo for coffee and STinner for the comics, y'all have a good day and stay alive. G

Good afternoon most, good morning to those in Mountain, Pacific, or Hawaiian time

Thanks for the coffee and rum @Obo but I'll pass on both. Too late in my day for coffee, and I'm not much of a rumdum though there are those who would argue that latter claim.

It's 67°F in Lansdale and cloudy, with rain expected to start in a couple hours. We've been to breakfast then had adventures in the back yard. My sister in law wants to put in a fence, because one neighbor in particular is constantly encroaching on her property. His own back yard has been a bare patch of dirt / mud (entirely of his own doing: he ripped it all up and turned it into a morass some time ago) for a couple years, and he appears to be trying to alter the drainage toward her yard.

She had a property line survey done last fall, but said neighbor has repeatedly knocked over or removed several of the stakes because he doesn't like where the line actually is. So, there's bad vibes and a potential legal action in that direction.

In addition to that boundary her property touches at least six others, including one that has fast-growing vines that spread aggressively. They've taken over a large area, well beyond the owner's property, and will continue to spread until checked and ripped out, after which it will be an annual project to rip out new growth and defend the border.

Another neighbor had placed several tools, a couple wheelbarrows, numerous 5 gallon plastic buckets, and miscellaneous other whatnot detritus in her yard. When we started removing said junk she came bellowing out to confront us. The situation could have escalated and turned ugly but calm prevailed and an ugly scene was avoided.

We met a third neighbor as we were following the survey stakes, as we had inadvertently strayed into his domain. That meeting remained amicable and reasonable, and in fact that owner had a copy of the plat which showed all of the property lines in the neighborhood so it was quite helpful.

It was eye-opening to me, though, to discover how many people around here are vigilant about activity in their back yards. And touchy about unexpected visitors.

My SIL will probably need to engage professional services to get her way back area cleared and cleaned up. It's not a job I would want to tackle.

That's all the fun I need for today.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.
