Ay up, ow at. Fine and Dandy? Good.
The Italian Dark Roast is ready, crepes too, help ya'selves.
The wind died down and the frost picked up, as it does. Nice sunny morn and clear skies abound. Temps are supposed to be 25 to 37. Snow above 1500 ft. Not a riding day.
We'll be off shortly for a bit of cupboard filling at Alnwick upon the Aln. There will be few if any some'ats accomplished today.
Pffffffftttttt.
Av a gud un and remember, it's wild out there.
Upt.

Thx Ray!

0˚c/32f, a breeze, snow maybe.

Monday afternoon we was hit by a severe snowstorm.
Luckily I had parked the car at a shop by the highway, so Mrs Stu could drive to work.
Got the driveaway cleared yesterday.
Could be worse, could be showelling coal….

Impossible to walk these days, so I’m on hold for a week or so.

@Flexit There’s always snow at Geilo….the pic I posted Monday, was taken midst july, temp 4˚c….

Have a good one, and don’t forget to pfffft!

<YAHHWN!>.... o_O where is that mud... <hands groping across the table> :coffee: <slurp!>... ahh... much better...

Office... dull... tallying projects together, in 5-digit price ranges... (hence: Achtung baby, must stay focused...)
We've +2/12C here today, a nice pinkish-fiery sun-raise this morning (bit of an end of the world impression), partially cloudy, and a storm warning... gales >80kph in ze afternoon... :wind1:

Noticed a nice crack in the windscreen (wasn't visible last night), running vertical from the top edge, already 2" long, increasing...
Due to bad "modern" car design with no overhang and short skirts, hence overly exposed rear wheels, paired with production cost savings and the darn lobbying (mudflaps not mandatory anymore; in the past 2/3rd of the rear wheels had to be covered), windscreens (and paint) have been demoted to consumables...
Already had a small hit/pitting glued last year, the long, growing crack however will require replacement... again... must be like the 6th screen now... OTOH not bad for 29 years on the road...

anyway, enjoy your day and hold on to something heavy...

Morning all, and thanks Ray , for the coffee. Who you calling a Dandy?

-3C here and snowing. We never got the snow showers they called for yesterday, rather we've just been getting snow. Not heavy, mind you, which is good as it's been doing the same constant white cascade for 18ish hours now. It's supposed to pop up to 2 later on and switch the fluffies to liquid. We'll see, unless we lose our eyesight. Unlikely that. unless the coffee's been run thru a radiator with glycol still in it. That be nasty, innit?

Looks like the network outage of 2025 is fixed. Reminds me of an old IT trick to make your job never be cut. Take a network cable and cut it right at the stress relief on one end. Tape it back together securely with a some tape and mark the tape with the words "do not remove this jumper." When you need some OT, at the end of your shift, replace an important cable with this one. It's then just a matter of waiting for the OT call. Your overtime hours worked depends on how long it takes you to find the issue, or who's asking. ;) Daddy need a new pair of handlebar risers...

Gotta run, it's OT calling.

good morning all. and a thank you to Ray for the coffee. it hit the spot as it was 35F on the dog walk. there was a sky full of stars and I just got a look at the moon before he made his get a way to the west. the clouds must of got blown away by the breeze we had going on. yesterday it was a 33mph wind and this morning its closer to 15mph. My weather is no where near as exciting as everyone else's. and I like it that way.
not sure whats in store for the day I guess I will just have to wait to see what the wife has in mind. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian roast and crepes, Ray.

It's 19°F and windy in Rockville (14 mph form the WNW, making a rushing noise in the bare treetops) so it feels like 9 below zero. UGH. It'll be sunny but windy with a high of only 26. Brrrrrrr..

Here's a photo of what's left of my cousin's house in Altadena, CA:

All 76 homes on their block, plus most or all of the hundreds of homes between them and the mountains, are gone. But at least the cousin and her husband are safe and well (enough), and escaped with the important papers and electronics, and their pets.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

-2c this morning when I went for a 5k walk (skiing trip imminent, got to get those muscles half working), beautiful blue sky. Rest of the day..... hmmmm got to get across to see my nearly 3 week old granddaughter (oh, and the parents too!). Then at some point...

Have to fit a new tyre and brake pads to the sidecar. Tyre was done but they couldn't balance the wheel, so I bought a new toy for the pricely sum of £25 and it worked, althought I'm not sure that Chief of Staff will be too impressed with the new conservatory ornament when she gets home.

Unfortunately, space is tight in the garage so I'll have to fit the wheel and roll it out into the cold before I can access the caliper for the new pads... brrrrrrrrrrr

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and crepes, Ray!

Looks like it has finally stopped snowing, and it will eventually be a little warmer today. The current temp of -11°C/12°F with a feels-like of -20°C/-4°F will climb to -5°C/23°F with a windchill of -12°C/10°F by mid-afternoon. I suppose I'll have to go dig my snow shovel out of my locker at some point and comply with the rule that says we have to keep our balconies clear. It'll have to wait until my hands are working, though - way too painful right now.

@ibike2havefun: That is dreadful!! I'm so sorry your cousin and her husband (and so many others) lost their house and belongings in those terrible wildfires. I'm glad they and their pets were able to get out in time and are OK.

Everyone have a good one, stay safe, go safely, be thankful and count your blessings.

Patty

Morning all! Dark and early again. Our old dog woke me with her constant pacing so I got up to take her to the run. She's back asleep in her bed and I'm not. It's 6C here with a predicted high of 7C and cloud with sunny periods.

Keith that's awful for your cousin. The devastation from those fires is horrible.

I may, or may not, try to ride my bicycle to work today. Depends on whether I can get a bit more sleep or not. If not, my daughter will kindly chauffeur me there. Can't be exhausted and drive but no one will know the difference at work :D.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's 18f and cloudy, here in MA, rising to 27, later.
they're forecasting a little snow here and there, but nothing significant.
The wind is still running 20-30mph.

Yesterday, we met with the blinds guy, and he later sent a quote for new vertical blinds for the kitchen and living room. I'm glad we only spend that kind of money once in a blue moon.

The kitchen has pulls on all of the drawers, and the bath has a new TP holder and robe hooks.
The contractor's assistant says that we'll have an installed microwave over the stove, today, and asked where to find the shower door parts.
He said that he'll be removing excess material and tools, before cleaning the cabinets and other surfaces.

We had a low-key day, otherwise, and celebrated our anniversary at our local Mexican place.

Today, I'll try again for a ski day, and we'll find dinner somewhere.
I don't expect the skiing to take all day, so I'll try to do some shopping, in between.

@motomac, Good to see you here again. Still riding the Wing? Mine's parked at the dealer's storage for the winter.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning, everyone. Thanks, Ray.

Only 14F, this morning. Brrrr. High of 35 expected. The winter storm hits tomorrow morning, with a guess of 5-7”.

Yesterday, was 2 separate blood draws at offices only 1/2 mile apart. Maybe I should have asked the first nurse for an extra vial “to go”. Then an EKG, followed by 2 hours of training on post op activities. Then 20 minutes of cardio. (It was a very long walk from parking lot to hospital.). Then a quick CT scan, followed by the 20 minute walk back to the truck.

Welcome back, Mac.

John

Cold daaaaan souffffff too.... Coffee sounds good, thanks!!
Welcome to the site!
:canflag1:
Whisker Bill

Good morning all!
Thanks for the hot start Ray!

John, I’m wishing you a speedy recovery from your operation! Here’s hoping the pain is somewhat bearable!

Keith, that’s horrible news! They will be a while recovering from that loss!

44/63F with another cruel NNE blow, at least it’s supposed to be sunny all day.
Enjoy your day!

I'm back. Thanks for the coffee Ray. No snow here in SoCal. Fires are way up north of Hollywood. I have sold my ElliptiGOs and after 2,200 consecutive days of not missing a ride, am a quitter. Ciao.

Welcome back to the prodigal son!

2,200 consecutive days? WOW. Slightly over six years without missing a day. IMpressive indeed! Got a mileage tally for that? I'll bet it's north of 66,000. That's NOT the profile of a quitter.
