The warm freshly baked Almond Croissants and Italian Dark Roast are ready, help ya'selves.
It's Thursday and you know what that means.......it's Thursday, all day.
Just got back from Michael's, borrowed a lift early on to adjust the aux belt up on Er'Indoors motor and check the emissions for the upcoming test, all good. Now coffee.
The weather is cold but not fodgy, still for now but Storm Éowyn arrives tomorrow. They're saying 80 mph, I'm saying cripes I hope not!
We'll be off to Alnwick upon the Aln shortly for a bit of shopping top up and I need a bulb, I hate buying bulbs. It used to be so simple! Just like me.
Av a gud un and remember, if you want a lift get in before the day starts.
Upt.
Nashcat, good boy.

Ah, Croissants, now we're talking...

-1°/0°C, overcast, gray, drizzle, damp, unpleasant, no sunrise, only brutal LED headlights... air quality index: purple, should improve to yellow by noon...
wondering if I should slap the windscreen cover on, prevents icing, saves the scraping of such in the evening...
GF slid down the exit ramp of the parking garage leaving her workplace (hospital) in her Skoda last night, ABS rumbling... good that the automatic barrier at the bottom opens fast enough...
In particular situations all those driving aids basically demote you to a passenger, passive freight, dead weight, ballast...
You sit there, splayed between the wheel and the brake pedal, observing, helplessly, hoping, yelling "STOOOP!" inside your head...
Yep, that freezing drizzle ensured frosted car windows and slippery spots in exposed areas...
I like the skillfully crafted "old school" independent suspension in my trusty '96 Toyota, competently sticking to the road whilst informing your about everything...

Home coffee absorbed, so is the office instant mix... :coffee:
Slow day... no large projects to work out... yet... one shouldn't praise the day before the evening...
Newsfeed broadcasting the usual background noise... sensing some Unruhe though...
Spares (inboard panniers) for GF's NT700 still in back-order, expected at warehouse Jan 27th, shipping after that...
Should also get her some T32's, but waiting if an Exedra G547 shows up to order the batch...
Shipment from Japan with my ST's w/pump arrived at the customs yesterday at 0653hrs... will see how long they hold back the process to justify their existence...

have a good one!

Thx Ray!
Early risers get an extra day, according to the chinese.

3˚c/37f, rain, calm.

Currently two threats to our trip to Gran Canary on Saturday.
1.Illness, all the 4 others travel companions is down with either corona or flu….pfffft
2. Storm Éowyn, predicted 80mph crosswind on the runway….pfffft

Last night I was asked if I would travel alone in case the others didn’t get better…
Turned out there’s only one correct answer to that.

@Nashcat Prayers for a speedy recovery! We sooth for you!

Now to be consultant for my fishing buddy who’s planning to build a sauna…

Have a good one!

Now that's a familiar sight... ;)
Typical, out of sight, out of mind... till they stop working...

Dirty filter is quickly resolved, rinse, shake, install... but I'd also check the blower wheel for accumulations, hindering proper air-flow...

Mornin’ y’all. Thanks for the coffee and almond croissants Ray, but don’t you need to post the nut allergy warning? On second thought, if someone had a nut allergy, they probably wouldn’t be on this site, anyway.

There’s a warming trend today. Starting off at 17, feels much warmer than yesterday’s 5. This afternoon will be sunny and 41. That’s warm enough to sit outside to feed the birds, but not quite warm enough to crack open a frosty adult beverage, but it won’t be long now.

@Nashcat Prayers for a speedy recovery! We sooth for you!
Thanks, I seem to doing fine. Up, and walking with a cane.

John

Morning all, and thanks Ray, for the coffee.

Glad to hear things are on the mend John!

I need a bulb, I hate buying bulbs. It used to be so simple! Just like me.

Yes, the new younger bulbs are much brighter than the old ones, whot?

Whot's not bright is the amount of red on the thermo meter. It's in the brrr range again. -22/-29 headed to -5/-14.

It's not motorcycle weather, but I'm moving on with Summer plans nonetheless. Booked our Newfoundland ferry trips yesterday, at just over Cdn$800. 2 folks, bike with trailer, 1 night's cabin. We're going over on the shorter day crossing (7 hrs) and coming home on the longer overnighter (16hrs.) Surprisingly, most of the berths were booked for our dates in August '25. Let the rest of the planning continue. Nest step is I've decided to buy a new trailer to pull, and I'll sell off The Leech in the Spring. The Wing just doesn't have enough saddlebag room for 2 up travelling, which is sad given what the bike is. STella has wayyy more space. If I have a couple of new Wing beefs, it's the poor fuel tank size and the poor luggage capacity. Oh, and the Apple Carplay setup. It's so complicated and not at all convenient.

Hope everyone is having a great day and that your car chilli ice block has melted.

Obo.

Good morning, all, and thank you indeed for the coffee and almondy goodness, Ray!

It's still cold here, but not quite as cold as where Obo is. Right now, we're at -10°C/14°F with a feels-like of -16°C/3°F, and we'll get all the way up to -7°C/19°F but it'll feel like -12°C/10°F. It's clear enough right now that I can see a bright, pretty sliver of moon, but that will change quickly. The snow will start sometime around 10 this morning and will continue falling until sometime this evening.

So far, I don't seem to be experiencing any major ill effects from yesterday's shingles jab. The arm's a little tender, but I have neither sprouted horns, nor have I turned into a puddle of protoplasmic goo with eyes. But the day is young...

@Nashcat: Good news! The worst part is over, now for the healing. Don't skimp on the PT, that's a good boy.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning all
You are amazing John! They rip you apart and you just carry on!
Please keep up the good work!

We’re off this morning, headed back to our winter home, my sister has signed up at wonderful place for senior living. She won’t be alone anymore, at 87 she is very mobile and full of “all get out!”

A cool 37/53F with a NNW blow, here in Brooksville, I’m hoping it’ll be much warmer by the time we get back to our digs.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee and croussants, Ray.

It's 8f/-13c under overcast sky this morning, rising to 29f/-2c, later.

I made it to the gym, yesterday, and cleaned up a bit in the basement, but mostly hunkered down inside.

The contractor just arrived to install the bathroom cabinet and pantry door handle, which should complete the project.

I'll try to get to the local ski hill, afterward. I've found that if I get there around 11, some of the early birds are leaving, giving me some parking opportunities in the closest lot. The hill is small enough, that a few hours are all I need, before I get bored.

Since the temperature has gotten above 0f, I'll see if I can get the old 'fridge out to the shed, without cooling the house down. Refrigerator doors will need to be removed, to get it out, though.

@Nashcat, Hip, Hip, Horay! You enjoy that new hip.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

It's 8. Eight. Degrees. Fahrenheit. -13C I think? Yow. It's tempting to take a quick ride to say I rode on the coldest day, but getting dressed for it sounds like WORK. Ane I've gotta trudge through it to work today anyways I guess. Ugh, my ADDled brain can't right now....

Thanks for the hot joe and eats! I'll need all the warmth I can get today. My handlebar muffs arrived yesterday. They look like they'll do but man, they STINK. Like fertilizer. They've been airing out in the garage all night but dunno if I'll keep them as they give me such a headache from just a few whiffs (I am terribly sensitive to smells). Testing them would be the only reason to go for a quick ride...that and to maybe pick up some Dunkin. Ah, grand aspirations.

I'd better get a 'going. Dunno where I'm going but I gotta get there quickly. Take care y'all!

Yikes! I hope there's coffee and croissants left at this late hour? Thanks Ray I'll gladly take leftovers. Cold and damp here in central FL this morning so I started previewing next weeks Mecum Motorcycle Auction. Totally lost track of time I think I started 2 1/2 hours ago! Some wicked cool stuff from back in the day some not so special stuff too. Buyer beware and know what you're looking at.

Hope everyone has a super day remember be safe out there. Maybe be extra careful, hide the checkbook and credit card if you sign up for online bidding!

Dang, I plum forgot to ask if anyone wanted a real breakfast. Standing up, unaided, I was still able to crank out bacon, eggs, and biscuits, with a dab of strawberry jam on the side.

Stepping outside at 27F almost feels balmy, after the weather at the first of the week.

Good afternoon to those in Europe, good morning to those in North America, good night to the Kiwis and Aussies. I think that about covers the possibilities.

Thanks for the coffee and almond croissants Ray, and for the rest of breakfast John.

It's 80°F in Bangkok, where it's 2230 hours. We've had showers, naps, and I've had a fabulous bowl of "Jungle Curry" for dinner, courtesy of the bar/restaurant next to our hotel.

We missed any exploration of Bangkok but that's okay, we'll be back someday. Tomorrow we push on for Laos. We'll also fall under the care and management of our tour operator, making the next three weeks quite simple from a planning and logistics perspective.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.
