I am traveling to Dallas area in July with my family and wonder if you have suggestions to do some interesting things around the area . Museums ,art galleries ,airplane museums and car stuff would be interesting for us . Please let me know .
Thank you ,we will look into some of these . Also not sure of how hot the weather might be and if the humidity will be high .Anything indoors!
I have been to the Dallas Aquarium, kind of fun. It is in an old office building, so it seems you are always going up and down stairs. Lots of things to see, probably 2-3 hours if you take your time.
Frisco has a video game museum that you can really nerd out at (if that is/was your thing). I took the kids and showed them the old Atari and Intellivision I played with as a kid. They were amazed by the "arcade room". Kind of cool that they have an entire wall of playable consoles of all ages.
The Colony has Scheels sporting goods. It is like a Cabela's/Bass Pro on steroids, they have a ferris wheel inside the stupid thing. Next to that is a "Hard 8s" BBQ (expensive, but worth it for the experience and great food).
Quite a drive from Dallas (great motorcycle ride though), Saint Jo has a really cool private Artillery Museum that is a lot of fun! It is free, but they do ask you to donate or support their small shop. It is larger than pictures make you think, lots of artillery pieces and small arms.
Avoid the zoo(s). You will die of heat exhaustion.
For car/plane museums I haven't been to any. I used to occasionally do the "cars and coffee" that were Saturday morning thing, lots of cool cars - probably too hot in July though.
Have fun on your trip!
Ryan
July-August in Dallas is always around 100F/37C. Humidity does vary from day to day, especially if it rains. I don't think it is too bad - but I have also been to Houston. Everything is subjective!Thank you ,we will look into some of these . Also not sure of how hot the weather might be and if the humidity will be high .
