The Best Tank Bag

So I am looking for the best tank bag I can find for my ST. Cost aside, in no particular order, here are what I consider to be the most important points in finding a bag:

- Very large capacity without obstructing view or controls (this includes the horn honking problem with the Honda bag)

- Magnetic (to be able to easily remove the bag to access the fuel door)

- Waterproof

- Prefer a strapless design, but this may be unavoidable due to my large capacity requirement

- Sleek(er) design than just a rectangular box (the Eclipse comes to mind)

So price aside, what is hands down the best bag out there? The wife and I want to go motorcycle camping, so we are trying to increase our storage while still maintaining a fairly sleek look.

Why Magnetic??? I am a charter member of the "Don't Touch My Tank" society when it comes to tank bags... You have 2 FAR,,, superior options than that,,, and a far better looking bag too IMHO!!!:duck:

I had the Luggage locker on my ST and quite frankly,,, can not figure out why EVERYONE,,, didn't have one!!! It looked so COOL,,, on my bike I left it on almost all the time!!!

Another idea where the tank bag does not touch the tank I am using now on my BMW is a SW-Motech tank bag offered through Twisted Throttle... I am using the Trials QL on my BMW and they have a bunch that they say will work on the ST smaller than this,,, and even bigger too...

hey guys

cyclegadgets has a flip up bag that pivots up and away from the tank so you can fill up with ease. dont have the link but look in the storage link when you go to the site. www.cyclegadgets.com
a bracket is bolted to the cap ring and flips forward
i think it will be my choice very soon. many different sizes

i bought one of these for the fjr a couple years ago. can't remember the name of the manufacturer. anyway, great idea and works well for a lot of folks, but not practical for those who have a lot of cockpit accessories that would prevent the bag from flipping forward. i would have liked it if the bag flipped backward instead.

I second the vote for Bagster.

The base unit is designed to fit perfectly over the tank, with 2 zippers and a snap for easy access to the gas cap, and they make several different bags that hook to the base near the handlebars and snap to the base near the gas cap.

It takes 10 sec to open things up to add gas, and protects the paint job quite effectively.

Those are all good looking bags, but seem to be much more than the Honda bag ($99.95). Is it worth the extra money? How difficult is it to get the Honda bag out of the way for fueling?

yep. you'll have to call the american distributor and order. i bought the tank liner and the sherpa bag. together it cost $340. that's a lot of dough and i don't have it yet (~3 weeks to deliver), but i sure do like the way it looks in the few pics i've seen. conq has some good pics: http://www.conqsoft.com/
