You guys have been holding out!!!

Why isn't Rt116 north of Oliver Springs on our radar??

I had to find this while out riding the trails in my SxS.. Did the tour to Brushy Mountain State Penitentrary. I now shall return soon with the 2-wheeler.. That section near the Pen is some serious "grind your foot pegs off" turns with beautiful asphalt..

Shhh!!!!!! We've called that the "Prison Road" for years.
It runs from Brushy Mountain State Prison (now closed) to Rocky Top (that used to be called Lake City).
When the prison was operational (that's where they kept the really bad boys), if you stopped at the '25 miles' curve sign, the black SUVs would come out and ask you questions as to what you were doing.
It makes the Gap look almost straight. ;)
It's 25 miles of some 'interesting' stuff to say the least.
I rode it one time and quit counting curves at a 1,000.
There used to be an open pit coal mine that it ran through the middle of but I think the mine is now closed.

I'll await the date! LOL
FYI- when we get to that road.. I'm running it both directions.. I see in the article they mention running it clockwise rather then counter??
I guess I need to get another Triple T together - 116 would be one of the roads we run.

Hmm, 116 is not a 'circle' so they must have 'added' some roads.
I like to run it from the prison to Rocky Top (south/west to north/east).
The prison now has tours, often guided by former inmates. ;)

Yes. Just did the tour last sunday. An ole geezer former inmate gave our tour. Very interesting place. He was in with James Earl Ray on the escape. Extended his term 10 yrs. For that.
