Good Morning from the 43 Heit Bahama ranch.
I'm up and have the pot potting and coffee coffeeing.
Enjoy the lovely smoothness of "Old Paint" courtesy of Phil's Paint shop in downtown Bahama.

Yesterday yeah, I was painting the garden swing and swing roof and trying to do it before more rain rains.
My son asked for some help with this wheels - seems the turbo was not turboing.
So a voltmeter here, and an ohm meter there and we got it adjusted and working.
No need for the BFH this time.

He's looking to buy a 5-6 yo pickup. Anyone seen prices of vehicles lately?
Absolutely ludicrous - and that's no rapping. My first house was about the same price as trucks these days.
Well, heck - hopefully I'll git the swing done today and put another project in the book.
It's great riding weather that's slipping on by...

Y'all have a wonderfilled day! @Obo is that you???

Ta me duck.
Riding in the snow? Meh.
32 to 43, sun and cold with a gentle 9 mph breeze from the west. It'll have to do I spose. They keep mentioning the sn word. Pffffffftttttt.
The used SW motech pegs arrived yesterday, very nice in a heavy sort of way. I don't know if they fit yet but I've got a grinder. 3 actually. They seem to have a concentric adjuster and a huge rubber area which seems hardly worn. Nice.
I might have a play later.
I got the genny running with some new fuel in it yesterday, all good and now the power will obviously stay on all winter. Pffffffftttttt.
Av a gud un and remember life can be better if you're concentrically adjusted. Just ask Stoo.
Upt.
Any food Nicholas?

G'Day...

relaxing Sunday... hopefully...
Fresh Cappriccio, self backed bread... now couch, feet up...
washer is rinsing the summer mesh gear, I guess I won't need that for a couple of weeks...

Spent yesterday morning at at motorcycle apparel shop...
basically because I wanted to have a live look at REV'IT products... GoreTex 2-piece in particular...

And there one can observe another symptom of the "the demise of the classic motorcycle sport-touring" issue:
limited availability and odd designs...

One one side you have the standard, Quasimodo stance, 1-piece, Power Ranger outfit in screaming colors...
then the urban rider style (revival of the cafe racer) with all kinds of hoodies and jeans...
on the other rack the Transformer's style: pseudo ADV styled suits, bulky and stiff like space suits, with gazillions of buckles, straps, zippers and stitched on cargo pockets, offered at astronomical price ranges, majority in beige and white, obviously a PITA to clean afterwards...

So what if I don't want to look like a Dakar attendee while walking towards my ST1100?

So we skipped that, went on a food run, spent the afternoon rummaging in the bike shed, reorganizing tools and stuff...

have a nice Sunday!

So I was curious about this "end of Sport Touring" thingy and asked the internet for some answers.
Well - sure enough there is stuff out there from several years ago and to our current scene.

Here's some stuff I found. Interesting I think.
Personally I never paid much attention to motorcycle trends other than Goldwing.
My feeling is; "if you like it - ride it!"

Here's one from our very own Forum: https://www.st-owners.com/forums/th...uring-motorcycle-doomed-to-extinction.187750/

Morning all! Revenge of the Mind Rodents this morning. Dark, chilly and rainy as far as I can tell. We may see bits of the sun later...or not.

I'm reliably informed that furniture shopping went well yesterday. We have a new couch and some bedside tables enroute. Nap testing to be conducted at a later date.

Further window cleaning is on the agenda today. Managed to get about half done yesterday so the mathematical odds are leaning towards getting the other half done today depending upon elbow sufficiency and inner eyelid inspection.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the paint shop blend, Nick. Pour me a bucket full of semi-gloss please, and while you're over there my plate could do with some b&g. Mmmmm, thanks.

It's 38°F and clear in Rockville and, unlike yesterday, pretty much dead calm. Of the few leaves left on the trees in my line of sight out the office window, not a one is stirring- nary a twitch. We expect partly sunny skies and a high around 60- pleasant indeed for the middle of November.

Yesterday's trip to the ukulele jam was thoroughly enjoyable and it was great to see our friends, albeit rather briefly. It's got me to thinking that perhaps the uke is an instrument I might be able to play at least at a mediocre level. My capacity for music-making has historically proven quite limited, so I'd be doomed to disappointment at the quality of the result but it sure looked like the various groups were having fun and were very accepting of beginners. One of my cousins is a retired music teacher, and she wrote a few months back of the health benefits of musicianship- among other things, it's fabulous stimulation for the brain, and I know mine is slipping rapidly through lack of use. So, keep yer ear plugs handy. It might happen.

Following the music fest we made a spur of the moment decision and took in Red One- the usual light, fluffy, entirely predictable Santa-is-in-jeopardy-and Christmas-must-be-saved sort of stuff, but it stars Dwayne Johnson so I was more than ordinarily receptive. He might be my favorite actor ever (sorry Tom Hanks and Alec Guinness and Humphrey Bogart), if only because he's so willing to do the silly, campy stuff as well as big action.

Today's plan doesn't exist, or if it does I'm unaware of it.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Hey gang! Thanks everyone for the BD wishes! Greatly loved and appreciated!

Speaking of the decline of the Sport Touring era. I had two ST's; a 2004 and a 2010 and put good miles on them
but I got tired of the ergonomics and once I sat on a 'Wing(owned 3 of them) there was no looking back. Yes the 'Wing is a behemoth
at 911 lbs but once you're rolling it's light in handling and of course there is the comfort on the 'ol arse!

my 2 cents......

hugs y'all!

Hmmm, yeah same here, Dave. Hope yer better!

I loved the look of the ST, but my arse and back appreciates the 'Wing for long trips..

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Nick. 41F on the dog walk with Mr Moon and some of his cloud buddies to enjoy. the star group must be somewhere else as they didn't show up.
wife is headed up to dog training in Coolidge this morning. I got some things to work on here so I'll stay home and see what I can complete of my things to do. top of the list is start to write out Christmas cards. it's that time of year.
I have a few things to clean up in the spare bedroom/storage room and decide if it's a keep or toss item. our high for the day will be 58F. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, all, and thanks for yet another "special blend," Nick! Hmm...notes of lead and turpentine...that'll make your eyes water!

The sunrise was pink and lavender this morning, with a huge, bright moon still shining in the sky. Anybody else see it? We have another chilly, but gorgeous day on tap, with oodles of sunshine and temps ranging from -1°C/30°F (feels like -4°/25°F) to 8°C/46°F with a feels-like of 6°C/43°F. The excellent weather bodes well for our upcoming hike, which will take us along some 13 km (almost 9 miles) of trails that criss-cross a small mountain (large hill?) called Mont Rigaud (pronounced ree-go). This one is a little longer and a little more challenging than the one we did last week, so I'll have to pace myself accordingly.

Right, must rustle up some breakfast before heading out to meet the rest of the masochists hikers. Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely. And take care not to trip over those rocks and tree roots hiding under the leaves.

Good morning, all. Thanks for the coffee, Nick.

Depending on the source, it either 36 or 44, this morning. I’m not going out to check. Mostly clear.

Yesterday, while out in the yard doing something (I forget what), there were 15 bikes that went by the house in a group. Not a Harley in the bunch. All were RT, RS, GS, FJR, and possibly some Tenere. It looked like one of our event group rides. I can’t find anything on Facebook that mentions a local ride. Maybe, they were just lost. What struck me as strange is that they were all properly geared up and riding approximately the speed limit. Make Motorcycles Great Again.

Good morning, all! Thanks for the coffee, Nick!

I got up early - for me - to watch the final race of MotoGP. Should be a barn-burner. Lots at stake.

Not sure how the day will shape up but the sun hasn't made an appearance, yet. It's supposed to get to 80 degrees today. We'll see.

Church this morning. This I need.

Have a blessed day!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Nick.

It's sunny and 44 in MA, rising to 63, later.
Another beautiful day.

Yesterday's trip to the restaurant was uneventful, except that my friend's potential contractor didn't show, due a time conflict. I changed out his heat sensors, and went back home.
Brenda and I went shopping for stuff for the kitchen and bath, after trading text messages with our contractor. We'll spec the bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and let his plumber buy and install them, so the trip to the big box stores was mostly to see what we like, and get him part numbers.
We did pick up a porch light, which should got well with the new siding and door. Brenda wants some ring doorbells, so we began that search, as well.
Dinner was at Goodstuff Smokehouse, which was a pleasant change. I had some ribs and smoked turkey, and Brenda got their smoked chicken sandwich special.

Today, when Brenda gets to the house, we'll leave again for breakfast at Carl's Oxford Diner. Trip Advisor and Yelp don't do it justice.
After that, I haven't a clue.

Keith, our D-I-L plays the uke pretty well, and she has a smaller version for our granddaughter. Granddaughter gets all sorts of accolades when she randomly strums, her uke...

Have a great day, and avoid deer...
Steve

Morning everyone, and thanks for the offer Nick. I'm going to play it safe and stick with the Black Rifle. Paint thinner just has such an awful aftertaste.

I did try a blended Scotch from Costco yesterday, their Kirkland brand, just to see if it was any good, and it was half the price of Crown or Jack. Yes, I know, those 2 are not scotch. It's OK, gets fair reviews, and after one drink over ice it's not bad, it has a slightly sweeter taste that leaves me unsure if I like it. I'll say after the sample last night, I'm still not sure if I'll buy it again.

My sister who lives in CT came down south to visit our other two sisters (they're in TN and GA), so yesterday I ride the GSA to meet her and our cousin near Huntsville, to see the land Mom left us. Used to be a pasture for our grandfather's dairy cows, but it's also been planted in corn, soybeans, and cotton through the years.

The chicken coop, barn, and dairy barn and the other out buildings are all grown over, as you'd expect after 15 years of neglect. Much of the farmland in the county has been carved up and sold for homes, as I suspect will happen to this land as well. It's a little more than 40 acres, not an empire by any stretch (think Yellowstone and 6666 ranches), but my grandfather lived a simple dairy farmer's life.

It was a bit sad, nostalgic and wistful. I recall when I was 9yo Papa had me on an old McCormick tractor (Nick) pulling the disc across that pasture, "breaking new ground." Of course, that was AFTER we had removed all the stones on the land... by hand.

My introduction to farming.

Had a nice breakfast at a restaurant, appropriately named The Homecoming, where they specialize in grits, cut and ground locally. I'm not sure how you can "specialize" in grits, but they've done very well in a short time. My sisters and I ate at their original restaurant nearby, when we tossed Mom's ashes in the Tennessee River. It was her idea, don't judge me. Now the restaurant has moved to swanky new digs in downtown Guntersville, as they started in a wooden building on the highway.

Now, interestingly, I had ridden up there as I mentioned, and when I found the restaurant, I locked my helmet to the bike (I installed an aftermarket one to the engine crash bars a while back), and after breakfast I got dressed to do the farm... and realized I had brought the wrong keychain, the one that did not have the helmet lock keys on it. You don't need the key to lock it, only to unlock it.

We're more than 2 hours from my house, Roz could never find us, and wouldn't want to drive up and save me, and there was no place to buy another helmet to get home. Crap!

Well I had parked in front of a bicycle shop, so went in to see if their bike mechanic had any ideas . I had several, like using a Dremel cutting wheel, etc. But Michael the mechanic had a pair of bolt cutters, and snip! snip! he freed the helmet without damaging the lock or my Neotec 2. Saved the day!

And so that's the news from Birmingham and Guntersville, where at least one rider was dressed warmly for the low-40s temperatures, and learned he needs a better plan for carrying or stowing the key to his helmet lock.

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Nick.

@Sadlsor Yup, proper planning is obviously the key.

4C headed to 9C under cloudy skies. The dry mud got sanded, wet mud got applied. Christmas decoration bins got brought into the house, which was a blessing in disguise. Seems after putting up a few items, Christmas has trumped the ongoing renovations, so I've got a break until the new year.

Today will likely involve buying winter tires online for the new car and installing the winter tires we bought last year on the Mrs's suvw. Tire prices are awful, starting around $200 each out the door and on the car.

Hope you all have great day, and aren't two tired.

Obo.

Thx Nick, nice taste, and it unclogged my sinuses!

It got a bit late last night, my MILs flight was heavily delayed, and to top it off, she had put a bottle or two of red wine in her suitcase.
All her expensive clothes are now in a burgundy red nuance.
Felt actually sorry for her….
Got home after midnight….a saturday lost.

Been for a walk.
6˚c/43f, 30 mph wind from north, will be 50mph later. Hail, rain.

@Sadlsor That picture brought water to my eyes…djeeez I need a drink.

Have a good one!
Stu, now even concentrically challenged
