good morning all. and a thank you to Ray for the coffee and eat's. 46F on the dog walk with a lot of stars to see and enjoy. seems the clouds stayed home(where ever home is). not sure what is on the list for today but the high should see 71F. maybe a visit to the desert or air museum. we will see. wife is not going to dog training today. so that opens the afternoon up to what ever we want to do. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, all. Thanks for the coffee, Ray.

I’ve been awake since 4:00, tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable. Pffftt. Checked the weather report and discovered that rain is expected this afternoon, so now I know the reason why all my joints are painful. Nothing helps, but to get up and start moving. I’m not sure if movement helps the joints or just takes my mind off the discomfort. Anyway, it’s warmer today with 33/55 being the prediction.

Waffles might be the cure….with plenty of bacon.

John

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian roast and garden fruit goodies Ray.

seems the clouds stayed home(where ever home is)

Home must be Wooler in the UK and Rockville in Murrilyn, US of A. It's cloudy here but not raining, and 36°F- a welcome warm-up from the recent past- headed for 62 (!!) with partial sun.

Today is the day for the local Japanese American Citizen's League "mochi suki", the annual winter social event. Mochi is a doughy substance, traditionally made by pounding cooked rice in a giant stone pestle, with bamboo mallets until it becomes a sticky mass. I'm not sure what happens after that, but the kids always enjoy the pounding part. I'm on call to help out, as usual. Today's roles will be stuff toter, getting items from the storage unit over tot he event venue (and presumably back, later), and probably serving line flunky when the food is to be distributed.

Along with House of the Rising Sun, I've set my sights on learning this other little traditional ukulele ditty...

Maybe I can find a bass uke player and do it this way, too:

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

First time i ever heard Link Wray was back in the 70s, when he and Brian of the Stray Cats collaborated on a rockabilly album. I think the former's band was Link Wray and The Fish.

Hope there's no cat squeezings in the coffee, Ray. Oh, wait, that would be Nick who would try that. Yeah, Dark Italian Roast for the win today.

Your clouds are widespread, because there's no Blue Sky (favorite Allman Brothers song, going back to music) here today, 10% rain chances with water expected for Monday and Tuesday. But who can think that far ahead, with only one cup of coffee in 'im? Not me.

Besides, I'm still disturbed by Stoo's Volvo commercial... it's almost as perplexing as the new Jaguar commercial, with no car in it.

It's a strange, strange world we live in. And I can only add to the strangeness.

Have a strange day or a normal one. You choose.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, Ray.
I'll hold off on anything else, until Brenda arrives in an hour or so.
There's a breakfast place up to the north, which had been closed, but is re-opened, and we thought we'd go there for a change.

It snowed overnight, and I found about an inch of the white stuff on the truck, this morning.
Current temperature is 35, and it'll rise to 46, later, with partly cloudy sky.
We may see a bit more moisture, this morning.

Brenda and I did some Christmas shopping, yesterday, and checked out the Kohler store for a shower door, since we were in the area.
Traffic was awful, and we made the decision to return home, and try again, maybe on Monday.
The electrician was here, yesterday, and we now have a fine assortment of switches and plugs in the kitchen and bath. The kitchen lights actually work!

I have a whole lot of nothing planned for today, so I'd best get busy.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

G'morning all, and thanks for the coffee and nom-noms, Ray (not to be confused with "birdie num-nums").

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Yep, it's snowing in Montreal, but it won't be in Ottawa, it seems. Temps will be hovering around freezing today - maybe a degree or two warmer in Ottawa, with clouds and perhaps a few raindrops. I'm just doing my final preps...making sure I haven't forgotten anything crucial (like my work laptop, that would not be good), and I'm out the door.

@STooRay: You're a sick puppy, Stu. That's why I like ya. Lol!!

Everyone have a good one, stay safe, go safely. I'll check in if I can. If I can't see you on Wednesday!

Patty

Morning all! Still dark here but definitely overcast. It rained overnight but sun is promised along with a high of 10C.

We managed to get my wife's phone issues finally sorted yesterday after a couple hours on the phone, wading through various "service" menus/prompts and 3 customer service agents. The hackers got into her email and used it to takeover the Sim card to her phone. They also tried to get the Taylor Swift tickets from her email but she managed to thwart that. Good reminder to use longer complex passwords.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Ray.

Today will see us erecting something recently killed. It's a Christmas miracle. Yes it is possums.

You'll be erecting dead possums? Were they really dead, or just pretending?

Weather here has warmed up from yesterday's -17C all the way up to -2C. It is however snowing heavily, a fine granular snow, at a hurried pace that's then whipped up by frequent gusts. It's supposed to head up to 2C later on, and the transition to rain of wet snow. I've already been out in the car this morning in this mess, and no plows have been about. There's no black pavement anywhere so the goal is to keep it between the existing snowbanks and away from oncoming traffic.

Maybe I'll even get the snow tires installed on the car today. They are installed and balanced on rims, but it's been too cold for me to bother with them since Wednesday. To further add to the never ending car saga, Mrs. Obo car (18 months old) who I left with Thing2, sent an email yesterday saying there's an engine issue and to stop driving it immediately. Thing2 knows nothing about cars, not does her BF..... but I managed to facetime them and get it pinpointed. Low coolant is the issue, but a quick look online says this is a semi-common issue around 18months for these car, which this car meets the criteria. It may be a head gasket issue, which is often the fix the dealers to under warranty. Great, just great. 5 hour away car issues, yet again. Sigh. I know, it's not life threatening, or costing well above my life earning capacity; it's just "one more thing on top of another" it seems. It'll all work out though, so someone once said who never had anything go wrong. :)

Hope you all have everything go right today!

Righty then, I'm off to snow blow again.

Obo.

Dead erect possums? Well at least they died happy. It was a late night working last night so I got to sleep in a bit today. Thanks for the cups of Joe! Gonna be a pretty nice day here in SoMD, up to 60F! Some garage work planned, work on the wife's brakes (when it rains it pours), then attend a friend's Shiv-a who passed away Thursday. He was a good man and rabbi for our kid's mitzvahs.

Take care y'all!

Morning Ray & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 34F, up from 21F and heading for 52F. A cold front is coming, so tomorrow, it is only supposed to be around the mid 30Fs! o_O No breeze yet, later we should see the winds from the NW @ 6 to 8mph.

I did it! The shed now has power! :hat3:

So, now the tractor should be happy with a constant current flowing! :)

We'll be heading off to church shortly.

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) will come later.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads!

Evenin' y'all.

Well she's stopped snowing. Actually it was about 3 hours ago.
I got the yard re-blew for the 2nd time today. (Wait, isn't that 4 times??)
The snow's fairly heavy now as the temps got up to about 5C, but it never switched to full rain. All in, we got about 30cm/12"/1'.
Currently -2C, headed down to -8C by the morning.
I'll have to make a trip to the petrol station later on as all my gerry cans are empty.

TTFN (ta ta for now)

Obo.

Link Wray and The Fish.

Perhaps the were in the 70s, but in 1958 the were Link Wray and His Wraymen. Later there was a band Country Joe and the Fish. I'm sufficiently uninformed that it might be that Link Wray assumed the pseudonym Country Joe later in his career and I just don't know it.

no Blue Sky (favorite Allman Brothers song, going back to music)

Or Mr. Blue Sky, from ELO...

The hackers got into her email and used it to takeover the Sim card to her phone.

Who knew that was even possible? I guess the hackers must've known, among others. Will she change her phone number now?

Robert Gordon with Link Wray, Fresh Fish Special was released in 1978. That may have been what i was thinking of (it's been a while).

And I'm familiar, of course, with CJM and the Fish. Woodstock, etc.

Thanks for the correction... i just remembered there was a "fish" in there somewhere...

No, the cell provider restored the Sim card. The real issue is her email. They've locked her out and we're waiting on Microsoft to respond to a request to restore it to her. I foresee longer and more complex passwords in her future.....

Complex passwords & MFA won't really help if it's an email bombing attack. There are lots of easy ways to sign up any email address to a crapload of legit sites. You end up getting the "approval request" emails in bulk (assuming you're email filters don't remove them all....)

And if hidden in there is one (or more) emails with active content... all you have to do is read or preview that email and all your saved logins on your PC (session tokens - think along the lines of cookies) are then shared with the bad actors. Voila, they have access to all your accounts.

To help ward this off, turn off the reading pane in your mail, if you're not expecting mail from someone then delete it, and don't open attachments from unexpected folks. Ever.
