Decent weather again today, high of 80 with 10% rain chances. Thanks for the coffee, Keith!
I'm only up at this hour because I'm pushing buttons at church this morning, and I didn't get my nap out. I could easily press the sheets another couple of hours.
Yesterday was ultra- relaxed, and I never left the house except to drive the John Deere around the front and back yards. The weed eater may get a few spins today after church, and it may not. There is no sense of urgency... is that bad?
I do have a new surging issue on the mower, though. It's like a Harley rider stopped at a traffic light next to you, when he looks over at you and revs his motor over and over, seemingly to annoy you. (OK, in fairness, and not to discriminate against all other annoying loud pipes afficionados, it could just as easily be a sport bike rider...) The mower does NOT have loud pipes, I'll have you know, i was merely trying to use an example you could relate to.
But it is very regular, meaning the rpms rise and fall in very distinct, quick intervals. Like, it's in 4/4 time, about 120 beats per minute. A ukulele student could grasp that description.
So anyway, I haven't tackled that yet. What do y'all think? Fuel pump maybe? Or fuel filter? I only run non-ethanol in it, the engine has less than 30 hours on it, and once I replaced the starter solenoid at the first of the year it has run great, and been very reliable. But the regularity of the surging could almost remind me of a lumpy camshaft, but the sound is not nearly that rapid. It is so evenly timed, a fuel filter doesn't seem likely.
And the gas in it can't be more than 2 weeks old, if that. Guess i could check for water in the fuel, but again... the evenness of this engine speed issue is really curious.
Hmm. Now that I've run this thread off the (fuel) rails, I need to get the bike out and get to church. Y'all enjoy the fine brew Keith has set before you.
And if you're planning to play your ukulele, don't forget to trim your fingernails.
EDIT: it took me so long to post mine, John has come and gone. How timely. Wonder if he had any ideas?
