It's a day of rest, ahhhhh, let's have some Dark Italian Roast and there's a very nice breakfast fruit crumble and Greek yoghurt on offer too. It's good. I'm going in for seconds, maybe thirds, maybe ........
We have an unwelcome guest, it's Bertie, the second named storm of the year, 44 to 51 f's, winds presently 18 mph and climbing to 49 mph tonight.
It seems to get windier after that so tomorrow could be a hoot. Pffffffftttttt. At least the dump of snow is but a white memory. Didn't even have to break a sweat with the shovel.
Today is a mystery at the moment, my body is saying do nowt old geezer, I think I should listen.
Av a gud un and remember, listen.
Upt.

Good Morning from NC!
Thanks for getting the pot started, Ray.
What? Ahhhhhh I guess I will have some of that fruit crumble - muchos grass.
Tell Bertie to take a hike and take her winds with her!

Yesterday's antics involved taking down a dead tree and chopping it up into bite-sized pieces.
But the tree was - well, it was a "hangar" stuck on another tree.
Mr Tractor made short work of that - oh yes he did!
While he was out, he helped with ruts in the gravel driveway.
Some leaf blowing rounded out the outdoor funities.

Today involves getting my friend's JD 455 working with the Powerflow.
Meezuring, and such. It should be fun.
One never knows what one will get into with another's machines!
I'll keep the BFH handy just in case...

It's cold today on the prairie.
40 deg is cold in NC. @STooRay (albeit not as cold in your town).
My friend said he'd have the garage heater on - Bless you man!
At those temps, my hands feel like two balloons!

Y'all have a Winterfull day!

good morning all. thank you Ray for the Dark Italian roast. 51F on the dog walk with a waning crescent moon that's bright enough to light most of the walk. stars and clouds are back to their spots in the sky to see and enjoy.

77F for the high today, that will be a nice temp to work out in the garage on cleaning my work bench. I'm sure something shiny will catch my eye and that will keep me from the bench but sooner or later I'll get to it. enjoy the day.

stay safe

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian roast Ray, and also for the crumble.

It's 41°F in Cincinnati and cloudy. Clouds and a high around 56 are expected.

It's a day of rest

It's a day of travel for me, as I make the trip back home.

cleaning my work bench. I'm sure something shiny will catch my eye

That shiny thing will likely be the wayward 10mm socket you've been looking for ever since you last set it down, and it raced away to its hiding place under everything else on the bench.

While at the Ansel Adams exhibition yesterday I recognized a young woman as being one of the violinists in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She was momentarily startled, then very pleased, when I told her without preamble that we had enjoyed yesterday's concert.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good coffee, Ray, and i thank you for it. Got up early without an alarm, because I fell asleep last night on the couch, watching Alabama half-heartedly play Oklahoma, and the scoreboard amplified their effort at the end.

Oh, and i also had a tall tumbler of blended Scotch on ice. I slept great.

I've already been outside with my coffee, and as it's 36 or so again, I recall what happened yesterday when I sat out in the cold and posted on the Saturday coffee thread. Distraction and discomfort made for a shorter commentary than it otherwise could have been. (I hear some of you now, muttering under your breath, "Well praise the Lord.")

Did Snoop fetch one of those mind hamsters y'all keep talking about? Is that what's lying on Stoo's rock?

I hope you don't strain yourself changing the filter, Dave. If you do, I can recommend application of ice and scotch, during recovery. For internal use only, of course. I read about that remedy, somewhere...

I also have a tall dead tree out back, and winds have already taken the top out of it. It's poised to fall on a chain link dog pen that I've never used, but it's at the edge of the woods. It may be useful some day, and at the least, I don't want to have to tear down a bunch of crushed up and mangled chain link fencing. I don't think that would be good for my chainsaw. But if I don't take that tree down, it will eventually find its own way to earth in a horizontal format.

Yesterday I meant to remark on Keith's Ansel Adam's exhibit. (But, you know. Cold.) My photography mentor was a huge fan, and taught me a lot about proper exposure and b&w darkroom techniques. But now, film is kind of like wagon wheels... they're seldom used anymore, so they're aren't many wheelwrights that you'll find.

But I bet you didn't tell the violinist you mistakenly shared with the internet, that you were going to a Mozart concert, did you? Well then, we won't spill the beans either, and to your credit, you did publish a correction, unlike the New York Times. Or as Levin calls them, the New York Slimes.

Gosh, I have things to do today. Because in the middle of me doing those things yesterday, Roz wanted to go see Bonhoeffer at the cinema. It was good, I thought, but really if i could choose, you know I would have gone to see Gladiator 2.

Has it warmed up any yet? No, it's not. But at least we don't have Gertie blowing over our shoulder. Good luck Ray, and batten 'em down.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.
I'll try some of that fruit crumble, too.

We had a day of rain, yesterday, but it's "Fair" and partly sunny this morning.T
The temperature is 41, rising to 47, and we'll have 20-30mph winds, with gusts that will go higher.

We had a quiet day, yesterday, but Brenda visited the laundromat for a bit.
The electrician came by, and did the work on the breaker panel. We also spoke about the lighting and switch hardware that we wanted.
He also verified that there was wiring buried behind the drywall for over the kitchen island and bathroom vanity.

Today, I'll head over to my friend's restaurant to try a quick fix for his drain leak.
Have I mentioned that I hate plumbing??
Maybe a late breakfast at Carl's with Brenda.
I'll try to get out for a walk, maybe with the neighbor's dog.
Dinner back at the Chinese restaurant.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and delightful breakfast fare, Ray. Sorry to hear about the upcoming storm, that blows. Hope Bertie clears off quickly.

Blue sky and puffy clouds are visible through the window at the moment, but that won't last; the rest of the day will be grey and overcast. It's a mite chilly as well; the current temp of 2°C/36°F with a feels-like of -3°C/27°F will only manage to rise one more degree.
I made the executive decision to forego today's hike, for a couple of reasons. For one thing, the gathering had us all up a bit late last night and my energy level is a little low. For another, my fellow club members are hiking Mount Royal, the lovely mountain that sits right in the middle of the city of Montreal, and they've opted to to make their way up to the main lookout via the system of trails that include a couple of long sets of stairs. The stairs can be somewhat challenging, and I just don't really feel up to it today. Too bad, because Mount Royal is nice and close and the trails are really nice and as you can see, the views of Montreal and beyond from the top are great. It's all good, I can go anytime, the mountain isn't going anywhere.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Good morning all!
Thanks for the hot start Ray!

I managed to load & deliver the trailer into storage yesterday. I had to wait on repair to the Ranger, which they actually covered under the recently expired warranty.

We’re off the Calbot Head for a working visit.
It is a historic lighthouse, etc. here on the Bruce Peninsula.

Enjoy your weekend!
A round of hugs to all!

Mornin’ y’all. Thanks, Ray.

34/55 and partly cloudy for today.

Can’t do much today. Don’t have any money! Well, I have money and can’t get to it. The bank noticed a fraudulent charge of my debit card last Wednesday and put a hold on the card. Thursday, they issued a new card, to be delivered on Saturday, but it’s a no-show. Friday, I went to Tractor Supply for dog food cause I still have a checkbook, but my check was declined at the register. Yep, checking got shut down, also. It’s a good thing the cashier recognized Teddy. She said they were supposed to notify the sheriff’s department, when someone tried to pass a bad check. Teddy had some cash on him, so we got the food and came home. Can’t wait til the bank opens tomorrow. I may just pay off the mortgage, get what left, and find another bank.

I’m not even going into my phone call to a non-English speaking rep on the phone. Can’t wait. They open at 9:00AM tomorrow, so I may be on the news channel by noon. Can’t wait.

It's a nice day here in SoMD, sunny and up to the mid-50s. So, today will entail outside and garage work, meaning I have to tank up on Joe early to make it through my day. 3d printer is humming in the background with the next project...its not fast so I can leave it for hours in the hopes it doesn't fail.

Today I have a snowblower to re-auger and a couple mowers to get ready for next season. Then suck up some more leaves. Notice no riding? Yeah well, the rain put me behind and turkey day is coming. Say, how big a bird (birds?) can I fit into the panniers? Or I could put it into my 60L top case...interesting test. Inquiring minds want to know.

Take care, y'all!

I think you'll be OK.
You can get 16 US gallons of turkey in there. That's a lot of turkey.

Morning all! Chilly, grey and damp here. 7C with a massive jump to 8C for the high.

Yesterday was a furniture shopping extravaganza; counter height stools and a sleeper sofa. The sofa is pretty neat. It's a queen but instead of one big bed, it's two singles that fold out individually, meaning one side can stay folded as couch and the other extended out like a chaise.

Not sure what today holds in store but no doubt I'll be informed in due course.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Afternoon all, and thanks for the coffee, Ray.

It was sunny earlier, but it's clouded over. Currently 6C headed down to 1C later on.

The heavy rain from yesterday and last night ceased by sunrise, and the pavement has mostly dried up; other than some puddles. The two Christmas trees are decorated, and it's starting to fall all into place. Just have to wait and see what hiccups come about, as isn't that the norm when all seems to be going as planned?

Hope everyone's had a great day so far and that it only gets better.

Obo.

Afternoon Ray & All from overcast & cold, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 37F, heading for 49F :rofl1: Yeah, it's NOT going to make it. There is moisture in the air, but no rain/snow yet. The winds have been blowing hard (up to 29mph) , since yesterday, I had fun filling in those trenches with dirt flying all over!

By the time I finished yesterday, I was pretty much DONE!

You can see the white coiled waterline in the lower left. It goes out to where you can see the blue waterline against the shed, just passed the stack of block.

What's left of the electrical trench

And where I ran out of wire, right at the outside outlet. I'll make that outlet to a four plug outlet and tack on a plug to the Tractor shed wiring.

Not much happening to day, other than church & weather.

Breakfast & lunch are history, along with a Pepsi.

Anyone :wht13: , Have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
