Where's the damn coffee?
the-office-michael-scott (1).gif
It's OK the pots on and the Dark Italian Roast is particularly thick this morning. Not even a hint of tractor oil and detritus.
The weather, it bloweths still and will still bloweth. Pffffffftttttt. The sun is out but it's making no difference to brrrrrrrr.
Easy day planned, but we know where that will go.
Av a gud un and remember, no one ever sung I'm dreaming of a white holiday. I think I can hear Noddy warming up.
Upt.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian roast, Ray. Looks like you're in for a day full (dayful? dayfull?) of "ICK". Stay inside and administer regular and generously-sized doses of antifreeze of Scottish (or even Irish) origin, would be my suggestion.

It's 22°F in Rockville. Not warm but we don't have 50-mph (gale to severe gale force) winds to contend with. No, we've got mostly clear skies (an assertion I haven't as yet personally verified but hey, I read it on the internet in a weather forecasting app so it MUST be true, right?) and expect a high of 28. Sunrise is scheduled for 0725, sunset for 1650, I guess it's not quite summer yet, despite that we've begun adding daylight time to both ends of the sun's daily above-the-horizon routine.

Maybe some grocery shopping today, and I really do need to sit down with the pile of holiday cards and get them dealt with. For some reason, though, that's a chore and not a joy to me. Oh well, needs must.

Uke practice first though, before any of that other stuff.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the Italian coffee, Ray. Do you make it with pasta water? It’s delicious.

A breezy 24 this morning. Feels like upper teens, according to Teddy. He went out and quickly came back indoors and has resumed his sleep, which was interrupted by my coffee slurping. High of 42, with clear skies and plenty of sun.

I may go for a walk in the woods, after it warms a bit. I need the exercise before I get the hip replaced next month.

G'Day...

at the very bases its quite simple...

Coffe chenistry.jpg

woke up way before 0700hrs, rain and winds pounding on the house...
we finally gave up and got out of bed shortly before 0900hrs...

You'll find a selection of Nespresso capsules on the kitchen counter, mugs in the cabinet right above...
If the machine starts to make ruckus, top off that water tank...

~1°C morning, 5°C max, heavy overcast, drizzle, windy, ghastly...

Self baked bread, bio "barrel butter" from happy cow's milk, MIL's strawberry jelly (no idea if such can grow "happily" in their bed, rumor tells MIL 'made it with love' though...), soft boiled hen-fruits from happy Pterosaurs (means they weren't kept in isolation, had lots of yard-time instead), etc...

Finished my 2nd mug, oil pressure constant, idling stable now...

last night ze GF switched on Christmas...

photo_2024-12-21_17-10-42.jpg

Yeah, Santa is out riding again, Rudolf seems kinda peeved over being left out... or after slurping too much punch, dunno...

Then she started to randomly punch buttons on that stereo remote, obviously with increasing frequency/frustration...
All stations airing either hosts yapping utter nonsense and/or played-to-death Xmas songs...
Resignation sat in... she switched to the 32GB SDcard filled to the brim with my personal best off music collection, all across from the 70ies till current day (but an obvious focus on 80ies and 90ies though)... [random shuffle]... there you go... just music, no talking, the mood brightened...

Currently she's wrapping presents... silently, focused, obviously enjoying the task at hand...

I will have to leave this place tomorrow morning over parking restrictions...
Yep, the whole city is short time parking... 0900 to 2200hrs... max duration* 2hrs... only exempt are Sat, Sun and national holidays...
So to only park my, already heavily taxed car at her place would cost me € 33.80,- a day (€ 2.60,-/hr)... pfffff...
But even paying that wouldn't prevent me from receiving a ticked, as I'd to relocate* the car every 2 hours... twice the pfffff...
So I'll take cover in my home complex sub-level garage... music, DVDs & BDs awaiting me... nice...
She has a "resident parking" RFID on her windscreen, € 120,-/anno + issuing fees... pfffff...
Working in Hospital administration makes her "essential", hence no days off during the holidays...
Me in the private sector OTOH, we're closed till Jan 7th... nice...

Anyway, enjoy a calm, silent Sunday everyone

cheers!

Thanks for the coffee, Italian roast would hit the spot. A balmy 8 degrees F here in the frozen tundra no wind and I saw a few stars when I took the dog out. Is there a chance of seeing the sun today? The big cause for celebration is as of today the days are getting longer!

A mostly quiet day here of house cleaning with the Packers on the tv in the background. A friend has threatened to "meat" for lunch at a bbq to take advantage of my vegetarian wife being away.

Hope everyone has a great day. Remember, be careful out there.

Brrrrrrr, may I please have an extra large coffee today? I think the water in my coffee maker has ice in it ...
2F (-17C) here this morning and maybe 12F later today under more or less sunny skies. The next day or so are thought to be about the same before "warming" to more seasonable teens at night and 20's during the day.

My son and grandson are due in a couple-ish hours for a visit. They are bringing a friend who needs to use a couple tools to replace a sight on a rifle. It will be nice to have a few minutes of mayhem with the grandson!

I was going to venture out for a few groceries later today. The lower temps might change my mind, it is to be determined. I have all the ingredients for chicken broccoli alfredo so maybe I will just focus on that!

Be safe, be careful and watch out for frostbite!

Scott

Good morning all and thanks for the coffee. Starting off at -4C/24.8F on my side of the island going going to a high of -7/19.4F. Wait, that's not going up! Blowing snow out there. I did a brief ride 3 days ago and now I have to wait for a thaw at the end of the week to get the old girl under cover.
Stay warm and safe everyone.

Brrrrrrr.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's sunny and 7 degrees here in MA, rising to 19, later. brrr...

No gym, yesterday.
Instead, I took the neighbor's dog for a walk in the Outback. It was snowy and tracked up, but not frozen. We even crossed the "Floating Bridge of Death" safely!
The electrician came by, and completed most of his tasks in the kitchen and bath. Hung the island light, bathroom lighted mirror, under counter lights, and various other electrical things. He'll be back to wire the power to the toe-kick heaters in the kitchen and bath, at some point.

Today, we'll have a busy day.
Freya needs to go to the boarder
Brenda will do laundry,
We'll finish packing for our trip.
We've got a date to attend our neighbor's Christmas gathering.

Have a great day,
Steve

Good morning, all, and thanks for the viscous Italian Roast, Ray! Any panettone to go with that? Or maybe a mince tart? 'Tis the season and all that.

The sun is shining in all its glory today, but it is fuh-reezing out there. Bone-chillingly cold. Snotcicle cold. It is currently -16°C/3°F but feels-like -23°C/-9°F, and we'll reach a high of -11°C/12°F with a windchill of -18°C/0°F at around 2 p.m. Mr. Sun first made his appearance at 70:30:47 this morning and will set at 4:17:01, so we are only being blessed with 8 hours and 46 minutes of daylight today. But as others have pointed out, that will begin to increase, now that the solstice has come and gone.

I will have to run a few errands today, so better get me woolies on. Everyone have a good one, stay safe, stay warm, go safely.

Patty

Morning all and thanks for the coffee, Ray, and the the pods, Martin.

Cold here, just like Scott's & Patty's necks of the wood. -18C and sunny right now. It's supposed to warm up quite a bit "number wise" the next hour, bust still be cold all day. -10C will be the high, less the windchill at the time.

Thing 1 & 1a arrived home Friday night and Thing 2's pilgrimage is today. Hopefully the main roads will be decent after the storm that swept thru. She's on mostly divided highway, but does have a mountain pass that's sometimes less than ideal in poor weather. It should be open today, and when I say mountain pass, it's absolutely NOTHING like the Alps etc. It's a 50km section that reaches about 365m.

If all goes according to plan, the house will be full tonight. She's also bringing her cat, so we'll see how the intermingling of her and ours makes out......

Hope everyone has a great day and avoids cat fights.

Obo.

Snotcicle cold.
Oh, I know how cold that is. Not here in the South, but when I was stationed in Connecticut. Never heard that twist of phrase before, but there's no mistaking the experience or imagery.
You obviously need Ray's Italian, so I'm assuming you already have. Thanks for sharing, Ray.
It's below freezing here this morning as well, fortunately it's all on the outside of the house. Likewise we're fortunate the accompanying lightest touch of frost, is out of doors as well. The high today is hardly worth mentioning, but we're to have a warning trend the next four days, "they" say.
My chainsaw repair is holding up quite well, after the first 2 e-clips bungee jumped off the output shaft... before securing their bungee. I won't be seeing those two again, and i wouldn't use them if I did.
Christmas week will be weird, in the middle this time. Office lunch tomorrow, work half day Christmas Eve, then back to work on Thursday.
Is like to have Martin's work schedule, but not at the pain and nuisance and cost of his street parking taxes.
I have plenty of firewood ready to be burned, and it's the perfect time... but Roz has so many friends having Christmas parties, that I'm never home until late at night... there's no enjoying a nice warm fire, if you start it and just have to go to bed.
Y'all be well today, don't skid on the roads, and don't get blown away.

A mostly quiet day here...
Yeah... I was looking forward to a quiet day...

but suddenly the piercing sound of the doorbell cut through the silence... uh-boy... DIL scratching at the door... even my GF rolls her eyes... ;)

me like:

zis will postpone supper for a very uncertain amount of time now... grrr... I'm starving... o_O

Apparently MIL is taking an extended nap, so he's bored... :sneaky:
So he now sits here for like an hour already... exchanging anecdotes and family events from a loooong time ago with ze GF...

can't catch a break, can I... :roflmao:

Good morning, 43F cloudy going to 48F by 11am just before it supposed to start raining. Agenda for to day see if epoxy has cured ,Andy next door gave me a small Voltmeter for my Dodge Van ,advised me to glue the tiny wires so they don't break off. Well yesterday went to do that and wouldn't you know it the ground wire already broke off. Yeah got it reattached and glued ,did I mention I hate Soldering that small of a connection . Now where to install said Voltmeter. Rest of the day napping and eating .
Thanks Ray for the coffee. Cheers and safe travels . G

Morning all! It's just starting to get light out. 8C currently, a high of 9C to come. Rain. Again. All day. Easier to shovel than snow I guess.....

Have been informed we will be driving today to Langford to pick up our daughter (40 Minutes or so) then back to Victoria (15-20) to the pedicare place where they will enjoy said pedicares (1.5 hours) and then drive daughter to airport (30 minutes) so she can catch a flight to Calgary to join her boyfriend and family. Not sure exactly what I will do for the duration of the pedicares but have been provided with lots of helpful suggestions of the errands variety. Thankfully, I work tomorrow..... :D It's actually not as onerous as all that and it is the only chance that my wife will get to hang out with our daughter over Xmas so I'll grin and bear it and go look at tools (the inanimate variety) while waiting for the ladies get pampered paws.

Other than that, further items will be returned to the house and place accordingly and I hope to get a start on my home office.

Hope everyone has a great day and takes time to paws for reflection!

@ST1100Y There's a reason people go away for Christmas (or at least tell folks they are....) ;)
Should I share his telling about him having killed 119 mice this year... en detail?... that alone was a 20 minute ordeal... ;)
But, and you can't make such things up:
right when it got really "juicy" the [random] setting on the stereo thought that CCR's Fortunate Son seem appropriate... I nearly lost it... :rofl1:
So, we had a dinnerlunch... gnocchi with gorgonzola... and a sip or two of the Blaufrankisch... now I feel dizzy... :bannana:

Afternoon Ray & All from mixed clouds & Sun in Southern Utah!

Currently (@ 1:40 PM) it is 58F, up from 26F and heading for 57F (I think the Weather guessers think we don't pay attention to their Forecasts). The winds are blowing from the S @ 8 to 12mph.

For all of you in the frozen North:

Coffee-4.jpg

We had a short Church meeting this morning, and get to enjoy a quite afternoon, except Chris keeps coming up with "things" for me to do! :well1:

I'm still waiting to hear back from the Insurance Agent that I contacted, but I'm not sure when I will, with her in Samoa, so I will continue to sit tight and wait.

Tomorrow, we'll have my youngest son and family here, and with three little ones at the age of 8 and younger, should be fun.

Breakfast & Lunch are passed and I'm still drinking my Pepsi from Lunch.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
