I just installed a set of Staintunes on the new 06 St1300A and am getting the gurgling/spluttering sound on decelleration...almost sounds like it wants to backfire. Do I need to get the bike re-mapped for Staintunes? I have made no other mods to the power train.

You also may need to upgrade your FPR ( Fuel Pressure Regulator ) Turbo City Tom ( www.Turbocity.com ) make one that works well with the STainetunes.
This site can not be held accountable that once you got to Tom's site you will spend more money on Farkeles than you intended to.

Around 4K miles ago, I too added Staintunes to my 05. I run without the baffles and can hear the deceleration "gurgling" you have referred too. I believe, as posted here, that this varible was always present, just not as noticable with stock cans. I have never had a full out backfire occur on my bike.
I am still "on the fence" about adding the FPR and K&N. The old school Hot Rodder in me will most likely cause me to go that direction one day.

The sounds we hear from aftermarket pipes are all a part of the improvement of my "Riding Experience" I was looking for.

That popping on decel is always there you just couldn't hear it with the stock mufflers.:03biker:

I agree!
..the emmission control system adds air to the exhaust via the PAIR valve on decel to help burn off unburnt fuel...this popping and splattering is usually muffled in a 'restrictive' stock muffler.
Even without a PAIR valve 'injecting' air, this backfiring can be apparent in very free flow exhausts with air mixing with hot 'fuelie' gases at the rear of the muffler.
