Wiring question. This is probably easier then I think but all of you are smarter then me.

I’m looking to use the factory switches on the PA for lighting and such. Attached are the photos. Do I just connect the plugs to the appropriate connection in the rear and wire my device to the front factory connector?AE529DC8-0892-47C9-9A61-C8120B947947.jpeg92E7B9B6-C00B-4C20-918B-C6DCF7A4F248.jpeg7FABB19F-1C34-4594-80B0-D7F27A15AAA5.jpeg

Okay, the little green square plug with 7 or 8 wires running to it is your switches on your handle bar. The other 6 wires just run up under the dash on either mirror (3 wires to each side). I didn't use the diagram, I just checked for continuity on the green square as I flipped switches until I found the one I wanted.

If I recall there was a power wire, ground and then 3 pairs for the switches. If you tell me which switch number you want to use I can tell you the wire color. The siren and strobe relay are the two that used to hang off the radio bracket (I read you converted to a passenger seat, so I assume you pushed those into the tail section). I am running two leds so I ignored them as I didn't need them.

I believe I wired it so my switch completes the ground. Let me see if I can snap a quick picture and mock something up.

Thank you,
-Ryan

Here you go. I assume Switch 3 and 5 are both the relays that i haven't messed with. I also assume that is the black connection. Lots of assuming here! ;)

So basically, I tapped into the 12v for my power wires to the front, ran my grounds to one of the switch 4 legs and ran the other switch 4 leg to the ground on the connection. The switch interrupts the ground, works great for two led driving lights.

Ah! Forgot to mention I put in a in line fuse from the 12v connection between the power wires. I didn't want to chance something burning up.

Also, the rear seat release is amazing in comparison to removing that cover.

Thanks,
Ryan

That’s the ticket, thank you, any chance you have picture of your jumpers? I think I tried the opposite, put in power, grounded the LED and it lights but no switch. I’m going to put 2 LED driving lights(2 pair), one 6k, one fog. Number 4 switch with 1and 2.

Your assumption on 3 and 5 are correct. 5 is the siren and 3 is a pulse. I’m going to try and stay away from them to avoid trouble.

I can snap a picture of them when I get home from work. I basically took spade connectors and trimmed them to fit the green block. The other wires I just crimped on the bullet plugs to utilize the round connections already there.

You don't need to utilize the power or ground on this harness, I did because it was right there and I liked the idea of leaving everything completely intact.

Have you ever made the horn work? I'm looking for pair of horns and connect to horn button. I haven't looked at it in wirings diagram yet.

Okay, here is what I did to connect the stock wires... Not my finest work, but I was being lazy - don't judge me. Oh yeah, I ran out of inline fuse connections, so I made it work. ;)

Ground. Connects in to both side "ground" wires and goes to switch 4:

Power wires from the front to a 5amp fuse, on to the "12v at key". little "y prong" crimp connection between the ground and the switch 4. I am especially proud of that with metal exposed and all. ;)

Honestly, I did this all when I was on the fence about driving lights in the normal "over the mirror" position - so I threw it together to temporarily make it work. I will probably find the other half of the connector and hook this up correctly if I keep this same design. I am kind of thinking I want lights lower down, so I am looking for alternate mounting spots.

Have fun!

Yeah, I thought mine didn't come with one - but it turned out the horn button was just a little outside its housing. I mashed it and started working just fine. It is a quiet "meep meep", but it does work.

Unless it has been altered it should have wiring for the stock horn. Looks like a lot of folks change it and add a relay anyway, so it would pretty easy to add an entirely new wire if it isn't there.

Awesome thank you. No judging here, better then a lot of my stuff. And I get the not sure this is the final arrangement, hardest part for me. Thanks again.

I was over thinking the lights as I often do. The are high beam 6000k, low beam 3000k. So I thought about the relay and blah. Turns out when you turn on the yellow it drowns out the white anyway. But they work on switch 4, 6k, switch 1, 3k. (I was going for switch 1& 2 hence the NC relay.)

I printed this picture and it was 8.5 x11. It made it so easy. Thank you!!!

Glad it helped! You inspired me to clean up my lazy "temporary" job. I received the connection ends today, I will make a harness that can easily be plugged in like yours.

Awesome, post pics, this will have to hold for a few weeks, I put tape on the bullets until I get back and have the “right” connectors. Really want to try the NC relay.

Okay, here are pictures of the finished harness to try and redeem myself. I did end up cutting off the round plug connections on the stock wiring, but I replaced them with a four prong connection, so it looks pretty good. I didn't play with the relays this time (sorry) I might dig back into in the future just verify how to connect it all together. That actually might take me looking at a manual though. ;)
