Reed Valve Block off - negative effects?

Hello,

I recently did my first valve check/adjust and in the process took a look at my reed valves (pn 18601-MCH-003).
Two were missing, one was glued shut. Evidently the previous owner has different feelings about quality maintenance than I do.

My option here are to either source 3x new reed valves, which seem to cost about $25 each + shipping (when they even are in stock. Seems like lots of places don't even have them).

Or to block off the whole system using block off plates which seem standard for Hondas of the era (about $50 total shipped).
Advantage there is it would make the underside of the Airbox and valve cover removal easier for future valve checks.

Would I see any negative effects removing these reed valves and installing a block off plate (as well as remove and blank off the pair hoses under the airbox)? I have a stock exhaust and no other performance mods.

I know I wouldn't see any performance change from this - just verifying my understanding that there would be no mechanical risk to doing so.

Thank you! :)

I eventually remove pair valve system from every bike I owned.... .there is zero mechanical risk.
Simplest maitenance on the system, ... block off plates... pull the pair pump off the bike, block open airbox outlet.
-- (Why leave the pump on if its deadweight?)

Parts left out dont break....

removing or disabling PAIR causes no problems, and offers no performance increase. I have one ST13 with pair removed and disabled. And another with the entire pair as stock. No differences in this respect. Several different methods can be used at the reed valves,, such as cap plates, marbles jammed in the hoses (very old school),,, or as I have, plastic caps. It's all up to you,,, CAt'

My OCD wont let me do a halfway job... so some pics...(not an ST, but those reed valves fit 151 Honda bikes)

Pump ripped out...

Airbox port plugged...

I remember seeing blocking plates for the ST13,, a while back,,, nicely engraved. But not lately. There may plates off other engines that fit. CAt'
You could probably figure out what bikes use the same reed valve covers and see what plate covers would work the same.

Thanks for all your responses. I will likely cap them off in a couple weeks.
I don't like the idea of some of them working and others not. I'll also of course remove the vacuum lines and pump.
Appreciate your help
