Has anyone figured out exactly what the Phoenix Police Dept used to insulate between their gas tanks and the motors on their "ST's" ?
In MCN I read that they used the "same" type of insulation that is used under auto hoods - I have seen a lot of different materials used under the hoods of the cars that we have owned.
So far I've tried (1) Carbon Fiber welders mat, (2) 3/16" Nomex cloth, (3) 1/4" thick double faced aluminum covered bubble insulation.
They all worked (a little) the bubbles were best, but they all let the heat through after riding several hours at over 80 degrees. Some of these materials can withstand a couple thousand degrees, but they are porous, I need an insulation that blocks the heat from getting through.
