Good morning all ye drinkers of the mighty caffeine!
Welcome to Sunday's caffeine and tawk at my place.
Today's brew is "Cafe Bustelo". It's a mighty fine Expresso coffee, not too strong and mucho goodo.

Also too, I've made some fresh biscuits, paired them with some Irish butter and NC honey.
What?! Sausage too?! Yes - this IS NC y'all, where we FRY everything.

Yesterday's antics involved replacing some sprinkler heads in the backyard.
There's nothing like a new sprinkler head to show you just how bad the old ones were!
I did a bit of shop cleaning and tweaking of equipment after all of the projects I've had.
Whew! Sometimes the shop gets away from me.

I've ordered some stuff for an upcoming project and awaiting, and awaiting...
Yeah, it's more stuff to bury in the property. Weird huh?

Leaves are keeping me entertained as they wait until I complete the blowing.
Then they all jump together again. It's kinda funny.

Tonight it seems we'll have some wine and conversation with some friends.
I'm sure we'll hear EVERY detail about their trip.

Y'all have a winderfilled day!

Ta me duck, there's an early coffee, then there's an early coffee and this is an early coffee.
I'll eat whatever you're doing, it's all strange on the left side. But no, what are they called, grits? God awful stuff.
The weather is mild, still, cyclonic gloom, but it's OK, better than some alternatives I could think of in November.
Er'Indoors has an hankering to fly somewhere, so we may be looking for flights today. We haven't flown anywhere since 2011. It'll be for next year though, our travelling is done for now.
Other than that it'll be domestic some'ats until lunch after a steady start.
Nick, your visitors tonight and your terminology reminded me of a work colleague from a few years back, we called him 2.3. If he asked me if I'd had a good holiday, my typical reply would last less than 10 seconds before moving on. You know, "hot, booze, mountains, meh". Now 2.3 was someone who could really tell you a holiday story, we would leave the garage in the XJ6 and drive up and down the M6 for a shift. When we were knocking off for the day he would still be telling me about loading the car and they had just left to start the hols. It would take a week for the virtual holiday to unfold. Nice bloke, dead now. Shame he was a gud un. Pffffffftttttt.
Av a gud un and remember, it'll be over soon. :please1:.
Upt.

Thx Nick, mucho bueno!

10˚c/50f, 25mph wind, rain, gloomy.

Last nights party was awful with the FIL talking non stop for three hours about people who died fifty years ago, the host served wine from a giant bottle into giant glasses, but it barely covered the bottom of the glass….pffffft.
I escaped early on my bicycle, better off alone.

Now for a walk, a birthday party later, yahooo!

Have a good one, and don’t serve it if you don’t mean it!
Stu

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the early brew Nick. Glad you found a way to make that extra hour productive.

It's 38°F and clear in Rockville, may reach 60 with sun later on.

I got many leaves moved yesterday but not all of them, not even all that have already come down, before the battery on the blower needed recharging. Mrs. Fun cleaned most of the leaves from the fish pond (not really possible to get them all without draining it) and we got the net in place over it to reduce the rate at which additional leaves will enter it.

Following that we enjoyed several hours and a few bottles of wine on the front porch with the neighbors. It made for a lovely evening, whit the Solo Stove keeping everyone warm.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Apparently - Dogs don't understand DST... ugh... good morning.

Apparently, neither do I, so a really early good morning goes out to everyone. Pfffttt…..Up at 3:30……What to do? Is it too early for leaf blowers in the neighborhood?

Nick, we may need another pot of the Bustelo. I seem to have a problem getting started this morning. I guess that I could peel and slice another batch of apples for the dehydrator. The first batch did well yesterday, and the only problem was that I stayed hungry all day, smelling the apples drying. I may even try my hand at fried pies today.

Oh, 55/77 and mostly sunny for today.

John

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Nick. 52F on the dog walk with a clear sky and stars everywhere to enjoy as we walked along.
DST? here in Arizona we do not do DST so I'm not running around resetting clocks.

wife has a dog thing going on up in Coolidge today so I'll be on my own for most of the day. I will have to see what there is to get into. the high should reach only 61F and they are calling for a 60% chance of rain. I sure hope we get some,

well I got two dogs looking for there breakfast. best get going. enjoy the day

stay safe

G'Day,

with that ghoul out da house we got some good shuteye... there was actual daylight when we stumbled up shortly before 0800hrs... ;)
A peaceful breakfast with no arguing, tantrums or spills and crumbs spread everywhere is a nice start into the day...

A chilly morning, but now the sun is out, 9°C... turns into a pretty day...

GF headed out swapping her car tires, helped to carry her winter-slippers out the basement, but besides this she insists on DIH...
Fine with me, never argue with a female who has her mind set onto something...

enjoy your Sunday...

Monday is back into the mine (for those not retired...)

cheers!

Good morning, all, and thanks for the eye-opening espresso, Nick! Delicious! And Irish butter, you say? Would that be Kerry Gold? It really is good!

Wow, it was actually light out when I got up this morning. That's a nice thing, and the "extra" hour of sleep is all fine and dandy, but I wouldn't be averse to leaving the clocks alone all year. Quebec is thinking of ditching Daylight Savings Time and I think a lot of people are in favour of that idea. We shall see.

We have a beautiful, sunny day in store for our hike...but it ain't gonna be warm. Right now, it's -3°C/27°F but feels like -6°C/21°F. By the time we all meet at the trail head, it will only have gone up to 4°C/39°F (but will feel like 2°C/36°F), and the high of 7°C/45°F won't happen until the hike is over. So layers, gloves, merino socks and a ski band are in order. As always, we'll be warm enough once we get moving and it'll be a lovely walk.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe, stay warm, and go safely.

Patty

Good morning, and thanks for the cafe' start, Nick.
It turns out, my bladder does't understand DST, either...

It's 30 and sunny, as the sun rises beyond the hill to the east.
The temperature should rise to 51 and it will remain sunny and clear, today.
The yard looks neat, so I guess yesterday's wind didn't rearrange things, much.

We've got nothing planned for today.
Brenda will check out of the hotel when she gets going, only to check us back in this afternoon.
We'll restock the luggage with clean clothes, after they're washed.
We're thinking of this hotel visit as one of the last slogs, until we're back home again, even though the move in date is mid-December.
I'll try to get out for a walk, once I'm fully awake, and maybe take the neighbor's pup.

Have a great day,
Steve

I'm sure we'll hear EVERY detail about their trip.
Possible that my GF and you guys share the same family?
Also here those stories never get to an end, the worst is when the different fractions then start to argue about details across the table... takes forever...

Thanks for the reasonable caffeination Nick, you're regaining my trust. I like 'em busy. Sausage with biscuits and honey!? It's the weekend, so I'll do a breakfast like that, with or without Ray's preferred grits. Went to a friend's daughter's wedding once, who served a grits bar at the reception.

Butter, bacon bits, shredded cheese, and all those kinds of things. Quite unique, and they were a big hit. I love me some grits! (Girls Raised In The South)

We're not seeing the leaf avalanche yet, but the acorns have mostly fallen. Yesterday I "swept" 16 bushels off the driveway with the mower, and the blades lowered all the way to the ground. Much, much quicker than herding them all around with a decent leaf blower.

Leaves will come too, I'm sure. I'm watching them all dead and brown, flipping over in the wind, hanging up there on their branches, giggling and just taunting me. "We're coming for you! See ya soon!"

So the new thermostat isn't working right, so much for plug and play. They have a toll-free phone support line, presumably English-speaking techs, so I'll give them a call tomorrow. Could be the outside units need to be cleaned, too.

Beyond that, I'll probably begin the Swedish Death March in the half of the garage with all the burger joint used computer parts. Seems their new-ish full-time guy has all the WAB under control.

Don't forget to wish our Mr. Ooster-suisse a happy birthday today.

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Nick.

Still only 3C, but it is sunny. High may reach 6C.

I'm officially car-less. Thing 1 departed for the 3.5hr drive home in the new-to-him-mobile. Should be an interesting week of bike riding to work in the am with a freezing temps and rain (snow?) in the forecast. The pressure is now on, and our preferred dealer is about a 3hr round trip from the house. The analysis paralysis has begun, trying to suss out the minute differences between the 3 finalist models. Foe some, it's cheaper to buy a standard but for others it's cheaper to buy an automatic. It really makes no logic to me. Standards were always less expensive.

Hope everyone has a great day, and remembers to check the batteries in the smoke detectors too!

Obo.

Morning all! It's sunny here for the first time in a while. Only for today though, we're getting another big storm starting tonight with lots of rain and lots of wind. Currently 6C, the high will be 11C.

Re smoke detectors, had one that kept chirping every 45 seconds or so last night, scared the pup. Tried everything but eventually disconnected it around 3 am. Wouldn't you know an hour later it started up again! Zombie smoke detectors! It was moved outside to the breezeway and uninterrupted sleep began....till the dogs decided to get up at 5. They did their business in the run and we had a brief discussion about time changes and it NOT being breakfast time. To their credit, they accepted my reasoning with some grumbling but permitted me another 2 hours of grace.

I'm heading up to Nanaimo later this afternoon to pick up my wife who's been staying with her step mom in Qualicum Beach. Before that I'll have to do some pre-return cleaning and laundry to ensure marital harmony.

Hope everyone has a great day and doesn't forget to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer, otherwise you'll be in deep sheets!
