Have a strange situation hope someone can help diagnose.

Yesterday I pull out of the garage like usual and bike won't start, don't hear the fuel pump, no FI light, no nothing. Cycle the key and kill switch a few times and it fires up.

Did some experimenting the 2nd time it happened to me.

I noticed if I kill it using the kill switch it, takes a much longer time then i remeber before to get the fuel pump to pre-engage, fi sequence and get the bike ready to start.

Any suggestions? I read there is some time delay on the forum, but never noticed it before the incident when the bike wouldn't turn on, it's like the delay got longer.

Thanks for any tips on what to do or is causing it.

There is no start delay made into the ST1300. I think either you aren't getting the clutch lever in to operate the clutch switch every time or there is a poor connection somewhere else.

Does it start different in neutral or in gear? Clutch lever switch isn't required with it in neutral.

Side-stand connector?

Dirty kill switch?

There is a very short delay before the engine can be started while it carries out some checks. This might be to do with the HISS system that we have on Uk and European bikes, I wouldn't know.

Kill switch Ok. Ignition key turned to ignition. Fuel pump whirrs into life. 1- 2 secs later fuel pump stops, Fi light goes out (and HISS light goes out). Bike can be fired up. All over before you can get your hand off the key and onto the right grip.

Cycle the key and kill switch a few times and it fires up.

That is a clue.

First thing - check switches and connectors nearest to each switch.
Second thing - check starter relay harness - the relay plugged in near the battery..
Check earthing point.
