ST1300 2012
Hi there. I'm new to the forum, live in Bristol UK. Wasn't sure where to post for advice so just introducing myself on here. I ditched my BMW RT and finally got back around to Honda. Just got a 2012 ST1300, it's done 67k miles, had the brakes rebuilt last week and the mechanic after a test ride said there's some play/noise from the final drive/crown wheel? I thought I'd read some threads on here that they rarely go wrong, bike has had regular servicing etc. I thought I had also seen on our that there's a bit of an ST guru/specialist near Gloucester uk? Anyone able to point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Welcome to the site. What kind of noise? Can you post a youtube video? Could be the u-joint, could be nothing..

Difficult to post a video the mechanic who test rode it said there was a bit of a 'clunk' on acceleration/deceleration. I'm unsure if I would have noticed it without him saying. He said something about there being a certain shimmed distance for the drive shaft/crown wheel? But the u joint might be worth a consideration I guess.

Any uk members able to recommend some ST specialists near Bristol? I have neither the time nor inclination to start pulling it apart..

How much freeplay should there be? If I put it in gear on it's stand the wheel will move around 25 to 30mm before resistance? Normal amount?
