On the 5th anniversary of the passing of the greatest drummer and percussionist this country has ever seen (and arguably the world), a memento is being offered to collectors and enthusiasts.

The article was forwarded to me by a member of this community and I thought I would share it with all of you.

Keep riding those Permanent Waves!

Thanks for the post. Brings back good memories of listening to "Ghost Rider" while riding to Phoenix and back a few years ago.
"Expecting 10x as much" for this bike because it was Neil's.

I wonder if a number of Neil Pearts BMWs will show up for sale soon?

I'll venture a guess that he is ridiculing the countless number people who have and will offer countless numbers of items for sale at inflated prices based on claimed connections to Niel Peart that are laughable.

I'll venture a guess that he is ridiculing a valid auction sale.
  • Includes the original purchase receipt signed by Neil from McBride Cycle of Toronto

"We have for sale this BMW GS1200 that Neil glanced at while walking past it on the street one day. This is your opportunity to own a piece of music and motorcycling history.....what am I bid?"
If you have a picture of him with your bike might be worth something to someone ... ;)

Neil on Peels- Protem (Arkansas Missouri) 125 ferry with his not so cleaned up R1200 GS, on which MANY on the forum have traveled ... He liked the color red (cars and motorcycles) and "the big BMW GS's are the only motorcycles Peart ever owned, and he went through at least seven of them".

Neil typically traded the bikes around 50K miles due to the huge amount of use and the need to make the next venue on time. Although he rode between venues while on tour, he had a ride buddy and there was a chase motor home with a fully equipped shop trailer not too far away. Probably none of us can afford that, but he earned it, IMHO.

He was a god on his drums and an amazing lyricist. I'm still saddened about his passing.

He was also an accomplished author with several books to his credit. I have several on my shelf and have enjoyed his writing style and his views on life. He referred to his GPS as "Dingus" which I completely agree with and have adopted the moniker as well.

Gene Simmons has a pretty funny story of Rush opening for Kiss. He barged into their dressing room and found them sipping wine and reading books. Gene chastised them for not being rockers. Rush were truly the nerds of rock and roll. Neil was one of the greats.

Must have been the lack of groupies given that Simmons doesn't drink or do drugs, which he claimed made him feel like an outcast.
