Name That Error

Wow, good ones. My best educated guess is there are 4 codes,
1, MAP sensor or wiring
7, ECT sensor or wiring
8, TP sensor or wiring
9, IAT sensor or wiring

With that many and if the wires and plugs are intact, I would say ECM has had a CVA or TIA. Just my guesses but would like to hear from the experts.

Agreed, 1, 7, 8, 9.

That's quite a few sensors that happen to be close together with the wiring running near the back of the airbox...

The 1st one is 10, not one, and its half of the code thrown ;)

Looks like a short flash? 10 would make it 17, 8, 9, can't see a 17 on the list (assuming that the wiki list is complete)

I know it's not the ECM because it's my test unit. Sounds like some grounds are shot.

Appreciate the help from everyone. Happy it’s finally running, now any input would be great!

Any suggestions? Add temporary grounds to those or any specific areas?

There are a few ground posts, under seat at the front, by the coils, left front under the fairing, but more thinking what about the yellow wire in the harness that is the normal problem area? There has been discussion on that many times. I think it was the yellow wire but I do not have my SM in front of me right now. Experts says ye?

Do you recommend removing the tank / airbox and checking inside of connections that may have been opened previously or checking for, or adding a temp ground to those sensors to see if that changes anything.

Here is a link that I was thinking about with the yellow connector. Take a look and see if this is an issue. Grounds seem to be a normal wiring fault it appears.

So he
joins in April and posts solely about his bike's problems
gets a lot of info
gets an ECU
is See ya! by August

I understand that life can get in the way but he was here very recently and can't drop a line? If I were the cynical type I'd think he joined up just to get his ride fixed and expected to leave the instant he got what he needed. The hardware was icing on the cake.

He could turn up with a valid explanation. Maybe.

Don't know about @Youdooooooo but I can see I need to get heavy on codes, and their interpretation.
I read practically EVERYthing posted here, mostly on the 13s of course, because there may come a time when I will need to know.
Hope that time is many years from now...

Well, if we put 5 Cardiologist in a room, we will get 5 different differential diagnosis. Fortunately with the ST, we limit the 5 down to 3 or less differentials, and most have some great though process that will lead to a positive outcome. Codes are just guidelines that may direct you to point to start IMO. Happy riding, not fixing! Isn't that why we chose to ride such dependable flavor of bikes?

I fix a lot of stuff. I had HD’s for 40 years. The romantic notion that fixing it on the side of the road is cool………….is not. Not breaking down in the first place is the greatest appeal! I like riding. A lot. Like 30k a year for the last 10 years. 5 of those were on an ST, 3 on a GW. Had a couple of KTM’s, not terrible, way faster, but had a few side of the road experiences. Which brings me back to an ST!
