Come on, where are you, you bunch of miscreants. I best put the Dark Italian Roast on then. Someone didn't eat their breakfast crumble so there's leftovers for breakfast. Pffffffftttttt.
The weather.......45 to 51, feels like of 30. Should stay dry and blowy, presently 45 mph from the SW.
I think it will be an indoor, steady dort of day whilst Bertie does his worst. Naughty boy Bertie.
Av a gud un and remember, try not to have wind.
Upt.

Thx Ray!
Drinking coffee and reading funny stuff simoultaneously…..look what just happened!

Another mild day, 10˚c/50f, rain, 40mph wind, 60 later….
If the rain stops I’ll go for a walk, kinda dry cleaning.
If it don’t, naaah, have to think about it.

Yesterday we took Peter to the beach, 40mph wind and rain, he just loved it.

Have a good one!
Stu

Second miscreant reporting for duty Sir!
Thanks for the roll call and the pot o' hot, Ray.
Leftover crumble - mmmm - always welcome.
*sluurrp*

Yesterday's adventure was (and still is) my friend's JD 455.
I had to remove the spindle to be able to get at the pulley and rest of the confetti.
Yeah, the spindle is in my shop now while I wrestle with the stupid messedup damn thing.
Thank heavens for advil.
So that looks like my day today - cleaning and removing the pulley without destroying it.
That 455 is built like a tank.

My lovely wife helped me change the brake fluid in the '78, so it's road ready again.
I hope I can sneak in a ride or two this week.
She's an excellent brake pusher-downer assistant!

There's 41 Heits on the tempometer this morning so it's chilly.
My fancy Rainbird controller warned me there was a freeze warning.
"Due to potential freeze, please bring in all brass monkeys" - yeah - it said that.

Y'all have a Winterfilled day!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian roast and surplus crumble Ray. I won't grumble.

It's 35°F and clear in Rockville, where I'm told there will be mostly sunny skies and a high of 58 although it'll be just 42 at 0900 when tee time arrives. Somehow that 42 is supposed to feel like 53; must be the new math where less is really supposedly more.

Not a lot else on the docket for today.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and crumble crumbs, Ray!

We'll see plenty of sunshine today, but it's frosty. The current -2°C/28°F feels like -8°C/18°F, and the high will get no higher than 5°C/41°F with a feels-like of 2°C/36°F. I'd say "brrrr," but I'd best save it for later...it's going to get a lot brrrr-er than this before the robins come back.

Sorry, folks, gotta run. Another impossible task awaits that must be delivered by 10 a.m. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Ray.

For the gender record I prefer to go by Mr. Creants, thank you very much.

2C, cloudy, headed to 6C, cloudy. An odd looking sentence, but that's what it is.

Joys of Monday abound, but it too is what it is. Let's get to it then.

Enjoy, or at least enjoy what you can.

Obo.

Thanks again for the coffee Ray!

Busy, busy day, no time for loitering. And after work, it's the first in a line of Christmas parties. Yeah, that's right, and trust me -- i am highly aware we haven't had Thanksgiving yet.

Ok, quick bike related news. Last night before coming home from a men's group, I plugged in my Warm and Safe jacket, turned on the controllers for the first time this season, and was dismayed to find the LEDs didn't greet me with the happy bright yellow and red glow.

I reviewed the instructions by owner/builder Mike on YouTube, to confirm I had not forgotten how it works. Nada.

But it was only 57° so it wasn't a deal breaker. I dove into the little black box with a jewelers screwing hammer at the kitchen table, after locating the last new 9v battery in the house, and found the slightest bit of crystalline knowledge of you... no, wait that's a Fleetwood Mac song. I found the 2 triple AAA batteries were just beginning to sulfate at the ends, but fortunately no damage to the springs or contacts. (Whew! Rescues just in time!!)

The new alkaline power sources were installed, and the tiny happy lights expressed their joy. Me too, so I reassembled the black box remote controller quite happy and quite pleased with myself. Another tragedy narrowly averted.

I'll test the heating capabilities on the way to work today, even though it's a balmy 50° at present.

I told you I'd be brief, but it looks like I lied to y'all. I'm sorry.

Yeah, so 2 lessons I want to share with you:
1. Change your batteries regularly, or consider removing them if they will be unused for several weeks.
2. Check your gear - whatever that may be - prior to first use, if it has been put away between seasons. Especially if you're going to need it on a trip, or before you leave home.

That's it.

I'm done for now. Happy Monday!

good morning all, thank you Ray for the coffee. 49F on the dog walk with a thin cloud cover that covered the moon. so I used the flashlight more this morning then I have in the past. the stars came out for a few minutes to show themselves.
have some running around to do this morning then its off to the gym. our high should see 74F in the afternoon. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's 34 and sunny, rising to 50, later.

Yesterday, I addressed the leak in my friend's kitchen drain, replacing a rubber coupler between the drain and the pipe below.
It was cold and windy enough that I stayed inside, and only left for dinner in the evening.

Today, I came to the house to find that the cat had puked on the rug in the pseudo-kitchen, so I get to clean that up.
I'll call the sitter to have her boarded while we're away for Christmas, and also the shop to have the Wing stored.
I need to re-arrange the shed to stage the snowblower, remove the battries from the garden tractor and VFR, as well.
Maybe a walk or trip to the gym.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Leaking batteries- A pet peeve of mine because it seems to be an issue again. This was solved years ago, why is it happening again?

I remember that years ago that leaking batteries was not uncommon at all. Everybody knew that this was a possibility and watched out for it. The manufacturers solved this problem and for years on end afterwards it was very rare to have a battery leak to the point that I got in the habit of not bothering with removing or checking the batteries until they were dead because a leak was so rare. Then years ago it started happening again. I have had several battery operated items destroyed by leaking batteries. I only buy Ever Ready or Energizer batteries, so it is not like this is due to cheap dollar store knock-offs. I have learned not to trust batteries again. I remove the batteries from everything that is not used very regularly, which is a huge pain when you want to use a battery powered item. The recurrence of leaking batteries seems to have coincided with when the shift to having everything made in China took place. No idea if that is the reason or not, especially since I have never bothered to look to see where these batteries are made. Batteries last longer they ever did, coupled with the fact that things like LED flashlights use so much less power, so the batteries stay in an item much longer than they ever did in the past. Maybe years ago batteries always died before they had a chance to leak. Is it simply a matter of extended age or has there been a quality slip in the name of profit? I have no idea. All I know is that it is aggravating to open up an item that you really like to find it destroyed by a leaking battery. It is also aggravating to always have to find and put batteries in to everything before you can use it, and aggravating that this is an issue again.

Sadly, I was actually up when Upt posted. But I wasn't gonna be THAT guy to raise their hand first. Thanks for the nice warmed-over French roast Joe!

Its a chilly morning here in SoMD, but the sun should warm things so I can get some leaves raked up during lunch and before more rain comes overnight. Not much else worth reporting except it's a short work week for me, which reminds me I need to get to the liquor store.

Take care y'all!

Morning all! It is a wet, grey day, with reasonably heavy rain, at least for the ride in, and 6C. Before I left, the weather network said it's actually 5C but feels like 6C. Humidex in November?!?!!? The day will remain much the same. Though looking at the weather network right now, it says 5C but feels like 2C. It's wet, that I can definitely confirm. Temperature? Who knows. Wear a coat.

And what the heck Ray? Miscreants? What about us Rapscallions? Miscreants get everything......

I was informed last night by my wife that Friday is move back into the house day. There then was some discussion about my failing to inform her of the department Xmas party on Friday afternoon centred around whether I had or had not mentioned it. I was sure I had. She was sure I hadn't. The issue was left unresolved but it was agreed I would "work from home" on Friday morning. I don't even want to go to the darn thing but feel I need to at least put in an appearance then do the Irish goodbye.

In any event, we get to move back into the house which is the important bit. There will still be some things left for the contractors to do, e.g., countertops next week but overall the work is pretty much done and looks amazing. Plus, we have actual code compliant, functioning, non-fire threatening/sewer backing upping electrical and plumbing. That alone was worth the renos. It also means I can get my power blow up Santa Minion out on the front lawn and embarrass the rest of the family. It's the simply pleasures in life.....

Hope everyone has a great day and manages to recharge!

Good morning , well it's turning into one. Thanks Ray for coffee and breaky ,weather cloudy 38F ,5mph wind . Thanks Sadlsor for the reminder to check batteries. My heated insoles have remote controllers ,been over a year since I have used them. To do list ,clean cat litter box, eye drops in wife's right eye (three times a day three different bottles), bring two 5 gallon water jugs in from car,40 lbs is now heavy for me,blood cancer sure hit me hard. But Chemo seems to be working, gained a bit of weight back and strength, up to 151lbs from 138. Managed to ride my bicycle. Should be (will be)back on the St this coming Spring, hopefully before spring ,65 the birthday February 22 ,like to go for a ride on my birthdays. well time to do the list, have a great day all.

Morning Ray & All from cold & cloudy, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 29F, up from 19F and heading for 48F. The SoCal weather is heading our way. The weather guessers aren't sure what we will see when, but they are telling us that we "might" get rain or snow or both, between today and Wednesday. But around here, you can't count on anything, until it's on the ground! :well1: No breeze now, but we expect to see them from the S @ 12 to 14mph.

I'll be taking a trip to Home Depot in a bit to pick up more electrical stuff, so I can finish up the tractor shed's electrical. With not knowing what this weather is doing, I'm not sure how much outside work I'll be able to do.

Lazyman's breakfast, Pepsi(s) later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
