Oh what a beautiful Monday…..said no one, ever. But it’s here, so start it off with a hot cup of Cafe Bustelo.

Mostly cloudy and 46, with a high of 51, but at least there’s no Croissant clouds in the forecast. Twisty is good for dinner rolls, but not appreciated as cloud formations.

Busy day, today. First, is taking Teddy to the vet for allergy testing, then it’s off to find a paintless dent repair shop for both vehicles.

John

Good morning everyone

thanks for the early cuppa, John. Wot you doin' up at 0330, though? [EDIT: I'm not surprised to see @motomac check in at 0230 PDT...]

It's 47°F and lightly raining in Rockville, or so says the Windows weather app. The rain will continue pretty much all day, which will almost certainly put a damper (see what I did there?) on my plan for a round of goof. Last time out we had light rain for part of the round and I came home sick, so I'm not eager to repeat the experience.

I will, however, still attend this evening's baseball game (Nationals v. Dodgers, for anyone interested) because I've already paid for the ticket and it's a special event night. There's a giveaway of jackets and Mrs. Fun has asked that I collect one for her.

Beyond that, it looks like a good day to make up for lost uke practice time from this past weekend.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, because tomorrow may be too late.

Grumble, snarl, creak and groan ... another day should be starting soon. I just wish the blasted mind hamsters would have slept in this morning! I am NOT in favor of beating the sun up! Anyway, John - the mug of life is appreciated.
It is 34F here under heavy clouds, which will likely be here all day. The high is only expected to be 39F. The forecast said there could be snow showers early this morning, but staring into the darkness I see no evidence of such.
Speaking of snow showers, the long range forecast shows that beginning midweek - nearly every day through next weekend mentions the possibility of them happening. Since it was sunny yesterday, in a fit of spring cleaning I put the tractor mounted snowblower away. For those of you in this general area, I apologize in advance for what Mother Nature may do in response to my rash move.
Today's plans are fluid, I may go get some bits of groceries that are running low, I may do household chores, I might go to the range - or - I might wander aimlessly around the house doing something but getting nothing accomplished!

Be safe, be careful, and live life to the fullest.

Scott

Thx John, sorry for your troubles!

Had the Rav at a shop to do a a/c service this morning.
$300, could be worse I guess, and now the a/c actually works.
They tested it for leaks and found none, so hopefully it will last for a while.

Bicycled from and to, got slightly excercised.
Maybe a walk later, maybe.

10˚c/50f, sunny, a light breeze .

Have a good one!
Stu

View of the North Sea, just 50 meters from the shop.

"Coffee...

4°/8°C, windy, gray, British war-painting skies...
GF took the car to work...

The usual Monday-morning office escalations on the other side of the hallway... ;)
Nah, not on my desk, already squeezed a few offers out, no complaints, all in the green here...

Microsoft however shocked me quite good this morning, Outlook 365 decided to run amok with unauthorized opening in a devilish [new design] and completely odd account settings...
Hate such unfathomable processes, took me a few minutes to reset everything and get access to my emails ...

have a good start into the week!

Greetings, Earthlings, and thank you muchly for the coffee, John. Very glad to hear the twisty clouds have taken a powder!

Welp, it's a lovely, bright morning and it will be a lovely bright day...then the flakes fly. It's currently 0°C/32°F and we'll see a high of 6°C/43°F later. Temps will drop some after that and stay lower for a few days, I think. The snow will start falling sometime this evening and will continue to fall aaaaall night and aaaaall day tomorrow. Sigh.
Spring in Quebec is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to get. Ah, well, this, too, shall pass. I'm having that engraved on my urn when the time comes, by the way.

Must get mentally prepared - I have a short virtual meeting to set up a 3-hour translation test for a company that wants to talk to me. Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely

Patty

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, John

It's 36 and snowing, according to the Weather Underground, but all I see is rain.
It'll rise another degree, with more snow/rain all day.
Maybe *I'M* the one responsible for the snow in our area, since the last snow shovel was put away over the weekend. (sorry, @sah48 ...)

I made it to my friend's restaurant, yesterday, where I fixed a screen and latch in his rear storm door.
Since we had all-day rain, I took the opportunity to clean up my basement work area.
We made it back to said restaurant for dinner, after watching the earlier Red Sox game.
Keith, I hope you stay dry at your game.

Today, I'll head to the gym in a bit, and then not much else.
Monday is usually our range day, so maybe that.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Princess #2...how I loathe thee. 0620 she had to go out into the rain. I threw them out, (begrudgingly) let them back in, fed the Prince of Purrsia and went back to bed. Finally rolled out at 0740 after being lulled to sleep by the rain...almost an inch so far and plenty more to fall. Thankfully no severe weather is expected here.

Got the hand truck nearly done for the trailer yesterday. Needs a rope for a handle and a shorter pivot bolt from Lowe's. It ain't elegant but it works. At least the changes I made ended up being cheaper and I can take some stuff back.

Today is WFH. 59F/15C [EDIT: 49F/10C] no plans to step outside unless I have to. Time to go feed myself and the princesses. Please take care y'all!

EDIT: how terrible of me to not acknowledge the gift of life (or in my case the prevention of death). Thanks John for the café Bustelo, that's one of my regulars! I currently have the Walmart French roast on standby...just in case.

It was a forever day yesterday.
Thanks for the coffee John.
4 hours or more each way, through NE Mississippi, past Memphis to Arlington TN... and the MS welcome center was still waiting for the new state maps to arrive from the printer.
Flat tire on the way home, rode the donut hoop 200 miles without further incident. 520 car miles and solid train or sprinkles, with a slight break in the precipitation for roughly 20 minutes. 2.5 hours onsite, but the server I brought was DOA, and the router had already been replaced by the company tech that covers that area.
I did have 2 switches with me the tech needed, so I left them in the burger store manager's office.
So I didn't get a damn thing done. Left home yesterday at 0815 and got home tired at 2045 last night. Not a whole lotta fun, but now I'm all caught up on all the Ask DroneU podcasts.
30 percent rain chances, "high" in the 50s, and i need to get 2 front tires. Brrrr!
Note to self: it's perfectly ok to change worn out tires BEFORE they blow out.
Have a fine Monday if ya can.

Morning John & All from a cold morning in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 25F (the Weather guessers lied again, they said the low was going to be 31F so, yesterday evening, I put a couple of Chris's plants outside. I'm hoping they didn't freeze! ) The temps should be heading for 67F, but that won't matter to me, since I'll be in Las Vegas (where, it should be 87F, today! Then tomorrow, off to SoCal for dental appts, where they are expecting mid to upper 80Fs, and even low 90Fs. We'll be back on Thursday.

John, sorry to hear about your hail storm. Those were some big chunks of ice! :scared2:

Our weekend Church Conference was really good, but 8 hours of meeting over two days is hard for me to sit through. By the last two hour meeting (watching them all from home) was more than my mind could take in, so I was having a hard time keeping my mind on what was being said. :shrug2:

As soon as I eat, get dressed and finish packing, I'll be off to Las Vegas. No point in getting there too soon, or I'll be sitting. Chris's plane isn't supposed to touch down until 4:05, and since they are an hour behind us, that gives me even more time to wait. So, I figure I'll leave around 12:30, get down there and check into our hotel, then go to the airport, pick her up and then she can take it easy, back at the hotel. Then we'll drive down to SoCal, and the trip will be about three hours shorter then our normal trips that we do straight from Cedar.

On the menu for the morning: Eggs, Bacon, croissant and a Pepsi.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Unannounced, not-in-your-power-to-control software changes: yet one more reason I so strongly dislike subscription-based Software-as-a-Service license models.

Keith, I hope you stay dry at your game.

Thanks, me too! In the past I've had seats in the Club level, which has (a) put me under shelter in most weather conditions, and (b) given me access to the fully-enclosed, climate-controlled "club" area of the stadium. My seat for tonight is in a different area so my only option in the event of wet weather will be to retreat to the concourse. It's covered but not enclosed, so it'll still be dang chilly. I'll have on a half-dozen or so layers in hopes of staying warm. Considering taking a couple fleece blankets, too.

Company policy... dunno why...

AT home I'm on Win7pro and Win10pro_64 and I own all software on CD-ROM...

Morning all! Grey and wet here, 7C now, 11C later. Rain all day. Sure glad I got the grass cut on Saturday. I should look into renting an aerator from Home Depot while the ground is nice and soft....ish.

Had planned to work in the office today but one of the dog's puked, then realized it was garbage/recycling day so that had to go out, then dogs had to eat, then.....and so on. Upshot? Working from home. Amazing how much time you can claw back when you avoid a 30 minute commute each way. Downside? No 30 minute commute on the ST each way. It's all about trade offs....

It appears that our daughter and boyfriend will be coming to live with us. Some paper work snafu got cleared up and he's been offered a job out here on the Island so out they come. He arrives in a week or so, she'll be a bit longer as she packs up their apartment in Montreal and says goodbye to her life there. She's been there now for close to 5 years so it will no doubt a bit of wrench to leave. We're pretty happy about it though it means sharing close quarters which will entail everyone getting used to a new reality. However, grass cutting just became a whole lot easier :D .

Patty, good luck with the testerview....intertest....? Uh, good luck, you got this!

Hope everyone has a great day and avoids getting mowed down!

Company policy... dunno why...

It's MUCH easier to manage SaaS across multiple user (client) systems because the local IT shop doesn't have to deal with issues like applying patches, security updates, etc. User turns their computer on, opens the software (which connects to the externally-managed service), and does what they do. No muss, no fuss, no media to manage, no way for one system to be out of date or configured differently from someone else's...

From an IT management perspective it's great. From a software vendor's perspective, also great: continuing revenue from subscription sales and ongoing renewals, no media / downloadable files to distribute... it's only the end users who suffer. Who really cares about them, anyhow?
