I've put the Italian Dark Roast on, the Craster Smokehouse Bacon and Mushroom baps will be ready as soon as "the guests" are ready. God only knows when they'll drag themselves down.
:well1:.
The weather I hear you ask, bright morning with 50 mph winds from the West, the sun is just kissing the top of Doddington Moor away to the north. It's pretty out there and pretty blowy too.
:wind1:
Once the guests are fed and watered we'll be doing some'at but don't really know what some'at just yet.
Av a gud un and remember, patience is a virtue.
Pffffffftttttt.
Upt.

And Bacon!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee and other items Ray. I hope your guests eventually appear so you can enjoy the feast.

It's 37°F and very wet in Rockville thanks to the rain that evidently persisted for much if not all the overnight period. We'll get a break during the day today but more wet is expected beginning around 1900 hours this evening. The temperature will rise gradually all day and overnight' by midnight it might be 50 and by tomorrow noon closer to 60. Yeah yeah I know, that's a long way off, particularly when in the context of weather forecasting, but it hasn't stopped me making a tee time reservation for 12:30 tomorrow.

Mrs. Fun is due to return sometime this afternoon or evening, from her girl's weekend in Williamsburg. Hopefully by then I'll have shooed the dancing girls out of the house and erased all evidence of their having been here.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Thx Ray, delicious startup!

Weather kept me up kost of the night, wind up to 60mph from west, tiresome!
Roof tiles doing their shake, rattle and roll.

No walk today, but I will take my bicycle to shop some groceries.
Might not be able to pedal though.

8˚c/46f, wind 40mph right now, showers.

The choir is set up to backup a national famous singer tomorrow.
It’s like going from the little leagues to superbowl in two days.
I’m nervous.

Have a good one!
Stu

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Ray. and the bacon. 43F on the dog walk with a big, bright and full moon that was in the 12 O'clock straight up position. had to twist around and look up to see it. clear sky and loads of stars made for a great walk.
have gym class this morning so that kills the morning but the afternoon is open and with a high 76F I'm sure I can find something to get into. enjoy the day

stay safe.

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Ray.

Do you have any Grey Poupon?

-7C and clear, headed to +4 and sunny.

Good to be in my own bed last night, but it will take more than that for the back to recover from the hotel mattress & car sitting. I know the cat was glad to see us. You'd have thunk we were gone for months and forgot about her treat routine....

Back to the slog today and tomorrow, until I begin the next car saga chapter: the replacement of the gasket du head. Hopefully it won't be a nail biter.

Here's to what's left of today, and of 2024, and if you have any unfinished 2024 resolutions, you best get attem.

Obo.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, bacon and kippers, Ray. They've gotta have 'em in Texas, 'cause everyone's a millionaire.

We're entering a brand new warm spell, and it's going to bring some messy conditions. We have mostly cloudy conditions with a smidge of sun today, and the current temp of -6°C/21°F with a feels-like of -11°C/12°F will rise steadily until it gets all the way up to 8°C/46°F by tomorrow morning. That will result in a lot of rain tomorrow, and then snow off and on from Wed. through Friday. Oh, the joys of December.

Glad you made it home safely, @Obo, despite the "obstacle course" you described in yesterday's post.

Everyone have an excellent day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

G'Day...

thanx for the cuppa...

morning 8°C, currently 11°C, sketchy clouds, gusty winds around 30kph... a fact upon they issued, you guessed it already, a storm warning... pfffff...

OTOH the media propaganda seems to undergo a (slight) change of direction...

Alternative technologies such as electric cars and photovoltaic systems use technologically critical elements (TCEs), some are potentially harmful to the environment and health. The electrification of vehicle fleets without accompanying measures to reduce the current increase on transportation demands would double the consumption of TCEs by 2060
LOL! Really?! Do tell... :roflmao:
If you'd expressed such considerations during the "peak" of the PV, EV, wind-turbine hype, they would have burned you at the stake right there on the spot... of course without any consideration about the emissions of this procedure...

But its even getting better:
Around three billion people play video games. Their consoles, computers, tablets and smartphones use more electricity than medium-sized countries. In the USA alone, video games cause more CO2 emissions than five million cars. And the number of gamers and power-hungry devices is growing.
Great findings... could you now please also list up the total emissions caused by all the "live-vlogs" posted by those climate panic believers during their road blockages...
cause every tweet, every single photo, every second of footage is ramping up all the servers around the globe... pfffff...

anyway, have a great day everyone...

Good morning ,and thanks for the coffee, Ray.

I woke to about an inch of snow on the truck this morning, and the temperature was 33 degrees.
It's 31 at the house, and it's overcast, presently.
The prediction is for a temp of 39, and morning snow showers.
More rain showers, tonight.

I arrived at the house to find the contractor and his assistant already at work. They've already installed the curb for the shower, and were getting ready to grout the tile. I need to tell them about the shower door, and bring it to the kitchen. I doubt that they'll need it, today, though.
The contractor says he's trying to get the plumber in for Wednesday, and the counter tops should be here on Thursday. Lots of other stuff to be done, still.

Brenda's company Christmas party was kind of lightly attended, but everyone seemed to have a good time. We've been through the Patriot's museum before, but I've still not been able to browse thoroughly. The restaurant was Bar Louie, where we watched the N.E. Patriots lose on TV while gabbing and indulging in their apps and beverages.
Brenda's replacement was invited, and she seemed to get along well with their bosses and coworkers.

Today, I'll head out to the gym, and maybe try for a walk
Brenda will visit the laundromat, wrap presents, and send them West.

@Obo, glad you made it back home unscathed.
@Mellow, the deck is looking good.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Video games cause CO2 emissions? Maybe they're talking about the normal respiratory output of the gamers. Sheesh.

I guess running my 2-smoker Stihl chainsaw yesterday to butcher the hollies trees didn't help. And I was breathing at the same time, so I'm killing the planet. But it was worth it, Roz isn't going murder me now that we can hang Christmas lights on the porch, and they will actually be seen over those cursed hollies, speaking of murdering.

It took 3 tries, because the e-clip holding the clutch basket onto the output shaft popped off twice. First time, the chain went real slack within the first minute of cutting, so I knew something was wrong. Then I found the washer, which is held captive by the e-clip, was laying on the sidewalk. It's a miracle that I saw it.

So I replaced the washer, using my e-clip from the original clutch. Same thing happened a minute later, and I found the washer on the ground again. Well, Saturday is done, so I put it away to find another clip. Lowe's, Home Depot, nada... but Harbor Freight had an assortment of 200 e-clips for the same price the box store would have charged for ONE.

Well, glory be! the first clip i installed worked the rest of the job on Sunday. Before and after pics for your amusement. I didn't cut myself, but I nicked the porch in two small places. And the saw just said, "Hey, wood is wood to a chainsaw. I don't care, that's on you!"

My bad, thanks for the coffee Ray. And good that you're home, Obo, sorry you're bent out of shape. Or feel like you are. Nice work on the deck, Joe.

Taking the car to work, it's 58 going to almost 70, but I'm expecting a small order from Mosko Moto's Black Friday sale to arrive at the office today.

Isn't there some big holiday coming up? I should check my calendar.

I hope Roz will pick up all those hollies limbs I cut off. They're a mess all over the sidewalk.

Good day to all.

It's cold this morning here in SLC. We've had a terrific weekend even though this was work related. It has been a very long time since I have been here and I'm bamboozled by the sprawl.

Saturday night was dinner at the castle (photo attached). Great fun complete with some sword battles. People have weird hobbies.

I'd say it's more lowievil vs medievil. Definitely not highievil. Those smirks though could be deceiving....

Video games cause CO2 emissions?
The electricity that is needed to power them more precisely.
This is something that I have long wondered about with the zero emission claims. There are many countries where coal is burned to produce a significant percentage of their electricity. The more that the switch to electric vehicles progresses the more demand there is for electricity and the more coal that gets burned. I find the zero emission claim confusing.

There is no confusion, they lie like cheap watch!

Morning all! It's dark and rainy out there this morning though I see a smudge of light off to the west horizon. It's 6C right now with rain forecast off and on all day and a high of 6C so we've done the best we're going to do all day.

Drove the car in again. Hoping to get the bike to the shop soon for the brake repairs etc. Funny how you miss the ride even when the weather is the absolute pits. I'd rather be riding in the rain. Definition of insanity or addiction or both....Insaniddiction....

My wife's family arrived yesterday afternoon and I survived. We headed out to a local pub for an early dinner and I got sat with my wife's niece and partner. They both just started working as Radiation Therapists and it was really interesting learning about what they do and how they do it. Radiation seemed to be the theme of the day as I had earlier read an article about the discover of a fungus in Chernobyl that apparently "eats" radiation. The hope is to find a way to use it to lessen or reduce radiation. Life finds a way to adapt.... If it works, then maybe people will look a little more kindly on nuclear power which as far as I can see, with my complete lack of expertise but professional willingness to rabbit on about things I know nothing of, represents the most viable solution in the near term for electricity demand.

Hope everyone has a great day and gets a charge out of it!

Afternoon Ray & All from :wind1: and cloudy, with some Sun, in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 52F, heading for 55F, but with the winds, it sure doesn't feel like it! :well1: The winds are blowing from the SSW @ 15 to 17 mph.

That was an interesting story about the B17. :unsure-2x:

As I was getting dressed, Chris informed me that a string from the flagpole lights had come down. So I had to investigate and found that a plug, came unplugged. It took some time to fix it, the wind not helping, and about an hour later, I had it back up. I'll test it later to see if all the lights still come on.

Lazyman's breakfast, but we did have some home made sourdough toast to go with it. And Chris made some cinnamon rolls, so, I'm eating that while typing. Washing it down with a Pepsi, of course.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
