Mon'day Coffee and goodies

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the GMD, breakfast goodies, and comics Dave.

It's 47°F and cloudy in Rockville. Later it'll be partly sunny, then cloud over again with a chance of showers beginning around 2100 hours. In between, the high could reach 73 or so.

Not the way I play. My game seems to be based on extracting maximum value per round, as measured by cost per stroke played. And so it is likely to be today, as my round will be at a course where I have historically done poorly.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee and comics, Dave.

It's sunny and 35, rising to 65, later. Rain is predicted for tonight, though.

Yesterday, I went to our friend's restaurant, where I cleaned the filters over his stoves.
Back home, I cleaned up, and Brenda and I went to breakfast at Carls. I have leftovers for breakfast again, today.
We got to watch some baseball, racing, and the Masters, over the course of the day,

Today, I'll head over to the gym, and shop a bit.
Maybe a walk, as well.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Hey, thanks for the GM and pancakes with sausage Dave! I have some honey to go with. While I'm not a weekday breakfast kinda guy, I will seriously consider making an exception.

This weekend I thought I would tackle an old Toro push mower that hasn't been started for some years now. As y'all well know, I lose track of time, so let's just call it 5 years. These are simple devices... spark, air, fuel, right? Got it.

After sitting under the deck all this time, it was pure filth and nastiness. A few minutes with a small pressure washer knocked off the dust, dirt and mildew. Oh yeah, those plastic wheels really are white, not green! Cool. Looks like a lawn mower again.

First I bought a new spark plug, the original nut was really rusty. (Did you know Walmart here doesn't carry spark plugs? Gotta order them.) Then I removed the air filter. Uh-oh, completely disintegrating. Second trip. Bought one locally for the price of two on Amazon. Blechhh. Check the gas tank, surely had water in it after all this time. Nope. It was bone dry. The steel spring clip holding the fuel hose to the bottom of the tank snapped in half when I squeezed it to remove the hose.

Ok, that's the basics. But wait, there's more! The front wheel drive braided cable is down to 3 wires that aren't broken. Well, that's not required for the engine to run, so let's save it for later.

But the similar braided cable for the start handle (steel bar must be squeezed to the handle before it can be started) was frozen, likely locked in rust. Disconnected from carburetor/ governor, and WD40 in both ends, let it sit. Was a real beast to remove it at both ends, but finally got it to barely move.

Almost there, right! Pull the starter rope and it doesn't retract. Oh, and also found the rubber tube that looks like some sort of crankcase breather hose... disintegrated in the middle.

Now I have a list of half a dozen necessary parts before I can even try to start it, and these are items not found in the box stores.

So it's a project. Good thing I don't have to have it running, as I have the John Deere that runs.

It would seem I'm not quite prepared to launch my small engine repair business as a side hustle!

So, besides all that time and (minor) frustration - and failure - my weekend was great! How was yours?

G'Day...

13°/19°C, haze, partially sunny, the Sahara dust-cloud is still persisting...

frankly am I still kinda jet-legged from that bloody DLST... :cautious:
so is ze GF, who's moan and groan procedure in the morning is getting extensive...
(me getting up an 0545hrs, having my cuppa in peace and quiet, her alarm goes off at 0605hrs, and then I've so shake, scratch and shuffle her to get outta that bed...)

Office, dull, most exciting choir was to convince the blueprint scanner and the dedicated software on my computer to actually cooperate...
It only requires the proper timed procedure of stopping the application on your PC:
first forcibly stop all ScanApp Lei tasks on your PC, awake the scanner out of hibernation by feeding him the large sheet of paper, select [scan to PC], and while it shows [scanning for PC] you've to run to your station to start the ScanApp, then hustle back to the scanner and dip on the now found computer icon... pfffff...
Wanna scan another blueprint? Start from the top...
Guess how long it took me to find the proper, smooth procedure and order... work, what an adventure...
Reminds me of those computer games where you had to push & move various items inside a room in a particular sequence to open some secret door or compartment... ;)

On the positive side I serviced the Ambrogio L15 robo-mower yesterday, planetary drive gears greased, all cleaned*, a freshly sharpened blade installed... ready for its autonomous missions, without squeaking and rattling like an old Sherman...
*Jonesy, the ginger, half-feral neighborhood cat hates that machine, always "marking" it and the shelter while charging, so washing off cat-pee is a constant task over here...
But I've already bookmarked a pasture fence generator... :devilish:

have a great start into the week

Good morning and thank you for the morning start. 56 outside of Alamo New Mexico this morning on my return trip from RanchSTOC. Just over 800 miles yesterday with a high of 91.

Heading down the road and I am sure to see some hot weather today.

Enjoy your day and be safe out there.

Picture right now from my camp spot.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the chuckles and yummy breakfast, Dave!

Looks like it's going to be a bee-oo-tee-ful day up here. Mr. Sun will be shining his heart out all day, and the temps will range from the current 2°C/36°F to a high of 16°C/61°F. Alas, the rain returns this evening and will fall all day tomorrow, so we'd best enjoy it while we can.

One of my friends came to visit on Saturday afternoon/evening and it was good to have some company for a bit.
Right, must get organized; I have a webinar to attend in half an hour. Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Appreciate the goodies Dave and especially the starter juice.

Well, this morning will be spent on the phone calling local dentists. Over the weekend a chunk of a molar fell off and I need it spackled back together (maybe JB Weld?). Maybe the chili I made Friday had a bit more bite than usual?

In between calls I need to make a trip around the yard and see if I can find the bird feeder. Apparently during the night a hungry bear came wandering thru and took it down.

Oh yeah ... weather... currently 34F and expected to hit 59F under sunny skies with possible showers late tonight.

Be safe, be careful and enjoy the day.

Scott

Thanks for the coffee to start up the day right Dave.

Good morning all. A balmy 4c here this morning. Eye surgeries completed and all is back to normal, better than normal actually, which is cool. So I decided break the ST out of winter jail yesterday and get in a ride. It was liberating, but now I need to figure out why the ABS light has decided to start flashing. Hopefully it's just a dirty sensor.

Best to all. Stay safe.

Ken

Good morning all!
Dave: A big thank you, for the hot starting fluid & comedy show!

A full day on the road yesterday, and another trip planned to pick up one missing part, that we neglected to make sure was included!

I did see about a half dozen, or so, bikes out & about on the afternoon return trip.

46/60 F cloudy now & rainy later today with a SSW breeze.
Enjoy your Monday.

Morning all! It's a sunny blue sky kind of day....right now. It will get a bit cloudy at parts during the rest of the day but the sun will remain. Currently 8C with a predicted high of 16C. Almost mesh jacket weather. Made for a gorgeous ride into work, there's a rise just as you get into town that as you come over you can see across to the Olympic Mountains in Washington being lit by the morning rays. I keep thinking I need to pull over some day and take a pic.

Today is a mix of meetings and assorted other administrivia. Have to contact a couple more companies for quotes for a paint job for the house. Have one already and it's a doozy which I think is a reflection on the work to be done, not the avaricious nature of the estimator. There's a lot of real estate and some of it's finicky work. My Scottish ancestors are imploring me to buy a sprayer and get at it myself but that likely means a half painted house come fall. :D

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Dave & All from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 51F, up from 32F and heading for 69F. A slight breeze now, but later, the winds will be out of the NNW @ 10 to 15 mph. The temp are like a roller coaster at this point. Dropping down to freezing, here and there. So I'm going to Wally World and pick up some pool noodles to wrap some pipes, just to be safe. With everything turning green, they need water, but I don't need frozen pipes!

Beyond that, I'll be outside pulling weeds and get a few things down out there, before getting back to the bike.

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) to come later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good morning, all. Thanks for the start, Dave. I've missed youse folks but I've not missed Coffee. ☕

Winter has finally released its long, cold hold. Trees are leafing out. No wildflowers yet. Very wet here March and Early April. Finally dry and sunny.

STerling is less than perfect. She's been idle since early October. Acting like at least one small jet is plu%ed. That's the project for today. I rode her to Moonshine on Saturd, historic Lunch Run 2nd Saturday in April . Only a small crowd, 293 burgers served. Only two STs.

68 and sunny. Lots of rain in March and early April. Finally warm and sunny.

I'll post a couple pictures of the phone in a few minutes.

As always, CAREFUL ON THE ROAD!!!!

George, good to hear from you. It has been a while. You need to change your location on your avatar.

Good afternoon, slept in today, managed a two mile bicycle ride out on the dyke road which is gravel. Not that far but only my second ride since finishing chemo. Happy that I stayed rubber side down, bicycle needs a bath, so no shiny side. Going to take some time before I'm back in good shape. Weather was awesome for a ride 60 F sunny with wispy Clouds 3 mph wind or light breeze. Take care Y'all,G
