Memories...

The first scooter I ever saw that wasn't a crude Briggs & Stratton powered mini bike that made more noise with the chain drive than exhaust was a Honda Cub of some nature.

All black and shiny it belonged to the local paper boy who delivered to our house. I'd never seen anything like it. My day had had an H-D years ago and I used to ride on the tank. But this Honda was gorgeous. Comparing it to the old H-D was like comparing a Ferrari or Lambo to the Beverly Hillbilly's truck.

Beautiful and quiet it could take me places. From that point on I knew I'd get a motorcycle. A few years later I got my first bike- a 305 Scrambler (CL77) silver on a black frame. I remember thinking "now that's a proper motorcycle!'. I probably said 'real motorcycle'. But that and my V65 Sabre are always in the back of my mind as to what a UJM should look like.
