low beam headlights relay location

It's mounted on the "antlers", on the right side, which is also known as the upper cowl stay, I believe and buried under the upper fairing. A Honda Service Manual is handy for finding parts locations.

Thank you : I see two or three beside each other on the right side under the cowling

If its a non-ABS model then the front-most of the 3 relays is the low beam, and the rear-most is the high beam. ABS-TCS models are a bit different, reply back if that's what you have.

If you have the non ABS model, it is the module closest to the front of the bike. The middle one is the Bank Angle Sensor and the rear one is the High Beam Relay.

It is mounted above the 3 modules already talked about, on the upper arm of the antler. Didn't want to keep you waiting.

Thanks: in trouble shooting I have power at switch high beams work but no low beams, when I switch to low beams I don’t hear the relay.

I presume you have checked the bulbs? You must have good ears for an old guy . . or you have your ear right on the relay! Is there power going into the relay? You probably should have the wiring schematic and I think you can find that on the forum, with a search.

You could also have a bad contact in the handlebar switch. Might need cleaning.

Trying to troubleshoot without books. and my hearing with hearing aides helps, going to swap out relays tomorrow. Had that one out today and reinstalled with no luck. Question when the start switch is engaged does it power off lights? Also wou you know which wire to relay is hot.

I'm not sure about the first question. It seems I recall some models/years may have cut the lights upon starting, but . . . ? As to Q #2 , no I don't. That's why you need to have that schematic. It IS available on this forum somewhere.

Maybe John O. could help, if he is reading.

Pressing the start switch with the key on will shut off the lights. Some people use this to "flash" the lights when the bike is running (there is a starter cutout to prevent the starter from engaging when the engine is running). It's possible to have an issue with the contacts in the start switch which will kill the lights, but that would be both high and low beam.

The relay may be bad, but I would think it would be more likely that the Hi/Lo switch has a bad contact or a bad connection in the harness.

Hello DuSTy,

The 92-95 ABS I models had separate circuits for high and low beams. If that’s what you have, check the fuse box. These colo(u)red wiring diagrams should answer your “which wire?” questions:

Edit: I just noticed that Larry beat me to poSTing the link while I dallied over on ST-Riders. Good job, Larry!
